What I didn't like abt other videos when learning to knit is how stuffy they are, not warm and welcoming.

The knitters that criticize you are probably the same type of knitting snobs you find at SOME (thankfully not all) LYS . Thankfully most creators are more welcoming of people learning new skills , otherwise these arts would die out! Keep doing you, you are an inspiration to all of us who want to learn new things!

So I will be watching your knitting tutorials. I made a deal with my son (he knits). If he would learn crochet, I would learn to knit. So he learned how to crochet, at least the basic stitches, so I'm going to learn to knit. Am looking forward to kearning
Hi Mikey first of all I really enjoy your channel and your podcasts and in regards to your knitting tutorials a huge thankyou I am a knitter and crocheter, pretty new still at crochet but have been knitting for many years taught by my grandmother, I thought I new a lot but your tutorials have helped me in my own makes but more importantly you have taught me to relax more and enjoy the stitches and the process of making something beautiful. In my travels, I saw an antique chair, for a knitter. It had no armrests. Was very solid looking!
My mother still knits (@95) & I chose to crochet. I enjoy crocheting, very much!
I am currently crocheting an afghan, from a Chunky apricot yarn, making it longer so she can tuck it under her feet & around her as she stays in a recliner & does not use a bed, due to Rheumatoid Arthritis & hip & back Pains.
Hahaa!! We have several dogs so I tell my friends that there will probably be "natural fibers" mixed in with the acrylic lol
Let me tell you something Mike. I'm 58 and have vowed to NEVER learn to knit! EVER! My Mother tried to teach me and I ran! My Sister tried to give me my Mother's knitting stuff recently and I said no. YOU are responsible for me learning to knit right now! Grrrr! 🤪 It took me about 15 minutes, rewinding your video 3 times and 3 frogs to "get it" and now I'm knitting! (Darn you! 🤣) I love the feel of knitted items, much more than crochet. You made it easy except for the right hand tension. My right hand said NO and it refuses to even try. 🤷🏼♀️ I may try to learn left hand knitting or just figure something else out but I will figure it out. It's a challenge and that's something I love. You did that for me and I thank you. You're an awesome teacher, keep it up as long as YOU want. I'll follow you to the end...

Yes! Fiber arts are amazing!
Everybody has their own journey's in fiber and being able too do many different things with it only enhances your experiances with it and imagination too.
Those that look down on others for it or make derogatory coments are usually those that aren't and or can't master it.
So when someone comments negatively feel sorry for them not your self. Its your pathway nobody else's. Embrace it. Hugs your way.
Also too you use different muscles in your hands wrist for arms so ooo....
Just cross training your hands arms wrist for a while.... lol
When i dislocated my shoulder i couldn't crochet with out pain but could knit strange right?

What I like is that you're being real with what you do. I LOVE that you are showing the process as you are learning and improving your skill. Don't let the trolls get to you. Who says you can't put them in their place? Yes, online is forever, but they don't have any right to be so hyper critical (and hypocritical). I agree that we have to end the enmity between knitters and crocheters. I am bi-stitchual and proud of it. AND I AM LEFT-HANDED as well. So there! Lost alot of my Christmas decorations this summer in flooded basement. Been crocheting and crafting new to replace. Instead of storing for short time I've started putting them out as I complete them. So I'm one of the early ones this year. Longer to enjoy anyway. Love from Michigan
I loved watching you knit … It reminded me of the time I found great knitting needles at a flea market & tried it too… It took a while for me to enjoy it. I never really progressed at it, but like it. Passed the needles on & crochet mainly. Polish granny inspired me to crochet💚 Creative people are multi- crafters…If you didn’t crochet you would find another creative craft / outlet💚🌷You’re a creative artist … Do You! Be free son!!!

I often combine knit and crochet, I knit and add pretty borders whether that’s hand knit or machine knit, nothing wrong with it.

I started out as a knitter but got bored with it because I got tired of doing same patterns. Crochet has much more variety and new stitches and patterns are easier to learn. I don't think I will ever knit again.

Crochet v. Knitting is an ongoing debate and should be friendly but not offensive. Much like Ford v. Chevy, Levi's v. Wranglers, Budweiser v. Coors Light. Lol
Hey Mickey, try to focus on the folks who are positive. Focusing on the negative tends to blow things up out of proportion and then you’re sliding *down* that nasty, slippery slope of negativity. Focus on the positive, please. Since you’ve been seemingly focusing on folks who are being nasty, it’s showing in your demeanor. One of the reasons I’ve enjoyed watching you is that you were so positive.
The First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, quote is, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Seems as though you’re consenting - quit it! 😊
There’s another quote by Eleanor, "Do what you feel in your heart to be right for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.”
You could be perfect (no one is) and someone would criticize you. I think that when someone rips you apart they’re "projecting." In other words, they’re feeling bad so they want to try to make you feel bad. Those kind of people are very immature (even if they’re in their 80s) and you really don’t need to give them a second thought.

@@TheCrochetCrowd I don’t know how to share a picture. I went to a “boutique” craft show, a woman was selling blankets that looked like paintings except they were crocheted. Almost like a tapestry.

You are looking up graphghan work. ruclips.net/video/bIqFcXi0IWY/видео.html this is how it's done. It's not tapestry as the yarn is being done with bobbles. Tapestry crochet is when the yarn is carried under the stitches.
That's about the right price for something like that. Once you learn how it's done, you will fully get why that price is legit. It's a significant amount of work.

Knitting can be duplicated using a machine, but crochet can not!
Mikey is there anyway you could design a rectangle blanket like you do your square blankets? I love making your blankets and a friend wants me to make a couple blankets to fit twin beds. Thank you.
We keep getting requesting to stop doing square blankets and make them rectangles. They require a new mathematic formula that needs to be solved to make it work. But yes, it's possible. I struggle with the starting that the item may not be shaped well.
