Japanese have eaten kelp as long as they have existed as a people. It is tasty as a condiment or seasoning but otherwise it is like eating grass.

I've been eaten seaweed/kelp forever, so I'm not sure what all the surprise is about. But yes, kelp can help provide food with minimal impact to the environment.

Now that the capitalists have "discovered" the *tasty,* "environmentally-friendly" seaweeds, they will be extracted from "the wild" (sea) to the extent the sky will allow. There is no such thing as moderation when it comes to making a profit. If the planet is lucky, the capitalists will be content with "farming" using *limited* quantities of "wild" seaweed.🤷🏾‍♂
