- Action movie stars scale lift shafts or jump atop elevator cars in blockbusters like the Matrix. But for lift technician Mohammad Hazri, the dangers of getting electrocuted by high-voltage wires, slipping and plummeting 30 storeys, or getting fingers or limbs caught on moving parts are all part of the job. He troubleshoots HDB lift stalls that can be caused by careless litter or playful children.
#OnTheRedDot’s new series “Risky Business” looks at jobs in Singapore where individuals risk their lives every time they go to work - possibly some of the world's most dangerous jobs. Yet, they keep putting themselves in harm’s way to keep our lives running smoothly. The series profiles rope access workers, commercial divers, lift technicians and cargo ship operators.

kudos to every lift technician
Oh oh. You read on A03?

thanks
So technical. This job requires so much skills and character way beyond imagination. Good job sir! It's not worth so much sacrifice and work just because someone littered, HDB and the police need to tighten up their rules! How many litterbugs get caught each year, clearly very very few!
I feel sad for this dude. He had to do climb 30 floors just to pick someone else’s litter.
This type of jobs skills and higher pay
He makes bank

Unsung heroes ... appreciate it 👍
Littering can cause someone's death. Possibly.
True
Throwing a lit cigarette can burn
Punk
Yes is true you can get stuck
Huge respect to him and all the other lift techs.
CNA Insider has been doing a great job with these mini-documentaries! The more we see, the more we appreciate the tough job they're doing
Thank you for the technicians who help to fix the lif and escalator
Give this dude a raise
Nothing but respect❤️
These personnel really deserve respect for ensuring everyone's safety
To be fair, the job is not dangerous as long as you know what you are doing, but it requires A LOT of knowledge. You get paid well though, so you can't really argue.
Great job brother
Hope theyre getting proper compensation for the risk.
In america the average mechanic gets paid 75k-77k a year. Depending on the experience you have and the location your in, they can make as much as 110k a year$$$.
RIZZKHALIFAH02 wow thats so much wonder how much does he make hopefully likewise
Depends if he’s union or not. Between our benefits and hourly pay, it’s unmatchable.
Tradesman were far more appreciated and well respected in those countries..in asian is rather different,if you're doctor, engineer or corporate guy you'll get more respect
@@RIZZKHALIFAH02 more than that friend 😉
we respect & salute to all lift technicians.. thank u for your service rendered in all buildings. thank u, once again..
The first lift - Shenyang Brilliant/EM Services (newer type)
The second lift - KM/EM Services (older type)
This is excellent behind-the-scenes footage, normally these areas are not accessible because of the risks and dangers associated with motor rooms, shafts and car tops.
KM? what is it??
Kaneko Japan (ケーエム/金子製作所)
still have no idea whats that rip
Just a minor Japanese elevator company. If you're curious, have a look at their website (google the kanji name, as simply search "Kaneko Elevator on Google won't yield any proper results)
how did you know that this company was behind all of em's older installations? i am very confused since this is the first time i heard about this.
Hats off to this elevator mechanic. Stay safe out there sir. I’m also in this industry and understand his challenges. Also it’s nice to read the supportive comments.
Awesome work! Great job. Love this series. It really opens up my eyes to the different jobs that people do here in SG.
All hail lift technicians who save us from being stuck in lifts
Risky but very important job...much under appreciated.

This guy is my long lost childhood friend.
Surprised to see him in this video. If ur seeing my msg,do text me.😉
waaaw nice
now his wife knows the nature of his job by watching this programme
The cameraman is invincible
Yeah i remembered my stupid dad jumps up and down in the lift when i was just 3 years old and made me cry in fear and terror when the lift stalled.
I sure your kids are very proud of you!
I see dirty door seals at HDB lifts all the time. Mostly it's dust and gunk accumulated at the ends of door seals .... Out Town Councils really needs to educate the cleaners to pay special attention to the areas around the lift doors.
100% agree with you.
Suprianto I think in the Long term, public education to teach the people to stop littering is more effective and a better solution.
More importantly the step needed to be done even before that is to get residents to actually be adults and clean up after their own litter🙄
It’s not door seals it’s door sills, the tracks that the door shoes run inside.
I am a lift technician myself and. I have been working with my lift company for 15 years
I've removed litter many times to fix a lift over the years , it's annoying especially when you have to walk up many floors
I hope he can spend more time with his child and get a better and safety job even if he love the lift fixer job
That is really dangerous, next time i'm in a lift. I'd remember people like him...
Thank you for saving lifts
Goodjob man🤙🏽
i was working for a lift company represent schindler lift. you can say that the job is very risky and the employer does not care about it's employee.the company did not pay well. One day i make up my mind to left the company for good, and open my own business now am happy i don;t regret this...

Thank you sir!
Watever it is,safety shud not be compromised...n method of statements n RIsks assessments ahud be tallied and have counter measures to minimize the risks n hazards involved......Under the WSH Act regulations.
Governor safety switch is sensitive as hell for it to trip when someone jumps in it
Who says they are lazy?
that is crazy true hahahaha
Lol Lol yes im a kid. And I'm not talking but texting you dumbass😂.! Stop wasting my time dude. Your mom and wife is mine ok.

The actual lazy ones
Lots of Fujitec, GoldStar, LG and Schindler lifts in their HDBs.
Two months after I started as an elevator tech I found a dead guy who was electrocuted in the machine room ...He had holes in him.
Tats y u shld nvr order chena lift.yes they maybe cheap but they cause more problems than the reliable fujitec
Gov decision makers all short-term minded only. As long as can work well enough for 4 years till they can leave the post, push to another guy and get promotion, they would gladly trade the lives and tax dollars from the everyday local to do so while citing lower efficient spending etc.
and people still vote for the ruling government... stupidity at its finest™
@@SBS9398U-VO3X thank you
Ro Noob _ SBS2824C Even right now fujitecs are made in China.

Counterweight, the silent killer!!!
Sure is. Keep that head on a swivel brother
Sigma vs Mitsubishi vs Fujitec vs XJ (Chinese brand), which system brand break down more often?
XJ and follow up with Sigma
Always had a fear of lifts can't imagine what it's like to fix lifts just cuz of litter
Respect to you
Imagine u littered and someone died from it 💀
im a lift technician, we get to much hate every time the elevator dont work.
Isn’t it crazy how mad people get? I do modernization and am an apprentice currently. It’s like ok if we don’t fix this then you can keep having problems and getting stuck. Take your pick 😂
Terimah kasih bang!
How come they dont work in duos?
I love that accent :)
My house lift everyone saw the signs "under maintenance" but still can use it like per normal 😂😂😂 why does this happen
So that’s what the lift chute looks like
How to bypass a fake lift needs like nuisance-movement pressing button(informed to other lower levels to press), like requiring gift of engineer due to situation will be fair if can skip? How it can be top secret maybe, like have a secret button outside itself, special key or number code?
Bro, u need a Bluetooth headset hahaha
prathification airpods maybe hahahah
3:39 those kids are watching the simpsons
My HDB lift has a problem with the indicator,it works but the indicator said "Out of Order" (Fujitech must be having bigger problem)
I was wondering if you could let me work with you because I have experience installing elevators
U are a hero
Everyone praising the lift fixer but no one thanks the camera man
