2 more things to note:
- This didn't matter for you since you attacked the airfield you took off from so the baralt was already zeroed. But usually you'd want to set the QFE of your target area to make sure bullet drop calculation is accurate.
- When the shooting cue wings around the aiming dot go away you're past your firing window and should pull out at 5G. When 2 additional flashing vertical lines appear between the aiming dot and the vertical lines that are always there you were too late, are in the danger zone of your own shrapnel and should pull out at max G.

The ADEN guns should be very similar to the DEFA guns in the mirage 2000 they fire the same ammo after all and have the same roots in the German MG213 gun

Radar lock on also work for Sidewinders and RB-05 in the same way.

If you are still in NAV you have to "unsafe" to get the radar lock on symbology.

How about activating one pod at a time? , that way you might be able to be more accurate by aiming a few pixels to the left or right? (and ammo last longer?)

I do wonder if it is a "bug" in DCS: The extreme drop of the bullets and the very spread of the trajectories seems to be the same in the Viggen as in the F/A18. But the A10-C is very different - nearly no visible drop and the hits much closer together. Does anyone have thoughts/explanation for this? Or is the A10-C just so much better?
In a way, yes. While they're both 30mm, the shell casings that the GAU-8 cannon in the A-10 uses are a full 6 centimeters longer. All that more space for powder makes the shells out of the GAU-8 exit the gun at 1000+ m/s in comparison to just under 800 m/s out of the ADEN. Round going faster means getting to the target faster, thus less time for gravity to have an effect and thus less drop in the trajectory. Granted, on the other hand, the GAU-8 is also a much more specialized weapon, considering they literally had to build a plane to carry said gun as opposed to that ADEN in the gun pods lol.
Thank you very much - good, technical explanation! Being accustomed to the precision of the GAU-8, it is rather frustrating to use the F/A18 guns against ground targets.
To be fair the Hornet is using the 20mm M61 Vulcan, which doesn't have nearly as much armor penetrating capability due to the lighter rounds, along with the fact that the GAU-8 was designed expressly for that purpose.

@@AdurianJ Funny enough I stumbled upon that gun looking up the details earlier, though taking that with the other pods would be a nightmare with those two different trajectories lol
Viggen has a canon mounted under the hull, not in pods. I have cleaned it my self many times during my military service.
Only the fighter Viggen, the attack Viggen has guns in pods
Only the JA had them AJ and the AJS need gunpods

really useless guns for small fighters i guess but usefull for big planes
They are mostly meant for ground attack, hence the low ammo count and 30 mm shell. But they would be great against bombers and large helicopters.
@@LockDCS Actually they are mostly meant for the AJ-37 Viggen to turn away trespassers in peacetime by being able to firing warning shots.

@@AdurianJ That would mainly be the job of JA viggens though.
Not in peacetime the wings take turns in being on QRA and the First Strike Group need to pull their weight
