All they had to do was throw one more round of snowballs at him and he would be dead until his next spawn. Also, the red koopas aren't really a threat. Any ledge will cause a retreat, so take the low ground.

No, you guys are mistaking the quote! After the Pizza Planet Truck cuts Luigi’s arm off, Mario says, “No! That wasn’t supposed to happen!” Truly emotional scene, especially with the reveal that Miyamoto was driving the truck the entire time.

The "mace" is actually a flail, which is a semi-historical weapon that might have been used in medieval/early modern combat but there's very little evidence (maciejowski chooper kind of deal), the main reason for that is, flail's lack of practical uses. When compare to koopa's deceptive eyepatch I believe it is mostly for show. This is absolutely fitting for bowser, this monarch puts his face on everything he can, of course he wants to look badass over being practical. Truly a little bit of illumination's brilliance.

The in-depth look at the hidden easter eggs and references, the explanation of the visual metaphors and literary devices, the anal ysis of the technical prowess and techniques on display, the occasional (and powerful) breaks in composure at the sheer majesty of the trailer, the repeated references to Bowser's hulking musculature, the frank but genuine honesty of letting us know when a particular frame sucks, the all-important call for increased plumpage of Mario's dumpy. It's all incredible, and I could continue to list off all of the best aspects of the video. But by far my favorite detail is visible on John Patrick "Jack" "jacksfilms" Douglass's many T-shirts which he dons throughout the video. The original shirt he wears features the main cast of the Super Mario Brothers franchise, namely Toad, Bowser, Princess Peach, Luigi, Yoshi, and Chris Pratt. However, you may have noticed that Luigi, Bowser, and Yoshi are partially transparent. This is actually intentional, as it alludes to their deeper personalities and foreshadows events which take place later on in the video regarding these characters. In fact, it is at roughly the three minute mark wherein the first of these events takes place, as Jack pulls away the first layer to reveal a shirt depicting the many Yoshis of the Mario series. And although there are many Yoshis visible here, only one is being straddled by Mario's gigantic ass: the green Yoshi, the most iconic and beloved of all Yoshis, which shows us the value of being unique. But the depth doesn't stop there, as roughly six minutes and eight seconds in, Jack rips off that layer to reveal yet another layer, this time featuring Bowser, King of the Koopas. This shirt gives us quite a bit of insight into Bowser's rough-and-tumble personality, as he stands in a menacing pose with teeth bared and claws primed, and he is framed by a camouflage backdrop, which is often worn by military personnel and hunters alike. This all makes Bowser feel very imposing, but it reminds us that it's really just a front for his soft interior, and that everyone puts up a face to hide what's within. You may, at this point, be wondering why Luigi was transparent on the original shirt as well if he isn't featured on any future shirts seen in the video. This is to symbolize how Luigi is a little bitch who doesn't deserve love, which is why the Bowser shirt is pulled away to once again reveal the same Yoshi shirt seen previously. All in all this is an excellent deep dive into the subtleties of this trailer, jam-packed with many beautifully presented subtleties of its own, and I can't believe it was 20 minutes long and that I actually fucking watched all of it.
Fantastic analysis Mr Films, exactly the content you're known for and you never disappoint with your deep dives and cunning wit that's always razor sharp. Honestly I can't imagine you doing silly videos or skits because the eye you have for reviews is just astounding, very few critics have achieved what you are doing (some names come to mind like Siskel and Ebert or Doug Walker). The Koopa Troopa army carrying spears as their weapons is a perfect metaphor. The Koopas are an advanced army with powerful airships and canons, yet they still embrace the past by using archaic weapons such as spears, just as Illumination embraces the past by adapting the 1985 classic hit videogame “Super Mario Bros.” into a film for modern audiences. This shows how the Koopas have power and soar to new heights, but aren’t afraid to appreciate their past and honour their ancestors. Truly incredible storytelling just from weapon choice alone. Illumination has done it again. I will be purchasing tickets to “the Super Mario Bros. Movie” soon, and I can’t wait to see what other subtle details are hidden throughout this masterpiece of modern media.

I like how when it was announced that Chris Pratt was gonna do the voice for Mario, he did an Instagram reel of him jokingly doing a lethargic Mario impression then said that's not how he'd do the voice. As it turns out, that's exactly what we got so far.

"Bowser can wield this kind of firepower" This is my favorite jacksfilms easter egg, as he meant "firepower", as in, the power of Bowser's abilities, and the fact that his abilities are demonstrated to include "fire breath".

When Bowser said "it's bowsin' time" I shed a tear. It definitely looks like it's going to be one of the movie ever made.

This analysis of the "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" movie teaser trailer is brilliant. The in-depth look at the hidden easter eggs and references, the explanation of the visual metaphors and literary devices, the anal ysis of the technical prowess and techniques on display, the occasional (and powerful) breaks in composure at the sheer majesty of the trailer, the repeated references to Bowser's hulking musculature, the frank but genuine honesty of letting us know when a particular frame sucks, the all-important call for increased plumpage of Mario's dumpy. It's all incredible, and I could continue to list off all of the best aspects of the video. But by far my favorite detail is visible on John Patrick "Jack" "jacksfilms" Douglass's many T-shirts which he dons throughout the video. The original shirt he wears features the main cast of the Super Mario Brothers franchise, namely Toad, Bowser, Princess Peach, Luigi, Yoshi, and Chris Pratt. However, you may have noticed that Luigi, Bowser, and Yoshi are partially transparent. This is actually intentional, as it alludes to their deeper personalities and foreshadows events which take place later on in the video regarding these characters. In fact, it is at roughly the three minute mark wherein the first of these events takes place, as Jack pulls away the first layer to reveal a shirt depicting the many Yoshis of the Mario series. And although there are many Yoshis visible here, only one is being straddled by Mario's gigantic ass: the green Yoshi, the most iconic and beloved of all Yoshis, which shows us the value of being unique. But the depth doesn't stop there, as roughly six minutes and eight seconds in, Jack rips off that layer to reveal yet another layer, this time featuring Bowser, King of the Koopas. This shirt gives us quite a bit of insight into Bowser's rough-and-tumble personality, as he stands in a menacing pose with teeth bared and claws primed, and he is framed by a camouflage backdrop, which is often worn by military personnel and hunters alike. This all makes Bowser feel very imposing, but it reminds us that it's really just a front for his soft interior, and that everyone puts up a face to hide what's within. You may, at this point, be wondering why Luigi was transparent on the original shirt as well if he isn't featured on any future shirts seen in the video. This is to symbolize how Luigi is a little bitch who doesn't deserve love, which is why the Bowser shirt is pulled away to once again reveal the same Yoshi shirt seen previously. All in all this is an excellent deep dive into the subtleties of this trailer, jam-packed with many beautifully presented subtleties of its own, and I can't believe it was 20 minutes long and that I actually fucking watched all of it.
As a big fan of Mario and an even bigger fan of Jack Black, I’m genuinely excited for this movie.

Honestly I can't imagine you doing silly videos or skits because the eye you have for reviews is just astounding, very few critics have achieved what you are doing (some names come to mind like Siskel and Ebert or Doug Walker).

The Koopa Troopa army carrying spears as their weapons is a perfect metaphor. The Koopas are an advanced army with powerful airships and canons, yet they still embrace the past by using archaic weapons such as spears, just as Illumination embraces the past by adapting the 1985 classic hit videogame “Super Mario Bros.” into a film for modern audiences. This shows how the Koopas have power and soar to new heights, but aren’t afraid to appreciate their past and honour their ancestors. Truly incredible storytelling just from weapon choice alone. Illumination has done it again.
I will be purchasing tickets to “the Super Mario Bros. Movie” soon, and I can’t wait to see what other subtle details are hidden throughout this masterpiece of modern media.

1:31 one Easter egg you may not have noticed in this video is that he says he has “goosebumps.” Bowser in the movie is played by the iconic Jack black who also plays R.L. Stine in the movie adaptation of “goosebumps.” This is the attention to detail I subscribe for 😁

I like how when it was announced that Chris Pratt was gonna do the voice for Mario, he did an Instagram reel of him jokingly doing a lethargic Mario impression then said that's not how he'd do the voice. As it turns out, that's exactly what we got so far.
He manages to both make a mockery of the trailer and review videos, and also actually point out the details just as he promised in the title.
My favorite part was when Bowser gave Mario the pickles from his cheeseburger, even though Bowser himself loves pickles. Everybody knows Mario loves pickles but Bowser pretended not to like them, so he could make Mario happy with extra pickles, showing how truly in love they are.
you forgot to mention how mario's hat has an M on it, which is a reference to the character of Mario from Nintendo's hit game franchise "Super Mario Bros", whose name begins with M.
It's really quite clever, as that is itself a reference to Nintendo's more well known game series "Metroid", which also starts with an M. Metroid, if you didn't know, is about a space ranger named Buzz Lightyear, who fights evil metroids and space dragons. It is also one of their properties with the most frequent game releases, second only to Star Fox.
