Literally 2 years ago my son was in pre-k and after his first day at school he came home and I was asking him new friends names, he said ‘I met a friend called potato “ I laughed for a solid evening telling him there was no way, and he swore blind that was his name 😂 and yes weeks later found out his name was also Matteo

I've just said matteo and potato, several times outloud.. . and Im scottish so not even American... and its kinda the same .. for me.. the lip movement is different only at the start .. between the two...where I kinda puff out the "pu" sound... and that's as in 'pu'-tate-o......and 'mu-tate-o' ! so maybe same in American ?

Kids can be so adorable with name pronunciation. I used to play with a five year old cousin (I think she was a cousin; This was like 20, 25 years ago) of a former girlfriend of my uncle who would call me "Germany." I thought it was the cutest thing. Every time she saw me she'd yell "Germany!" and run up to me. Also, I can't ask my uncle what the kid's relation to her was because he's no longer with us and I forgot which girlfriend it was. Plus I haven't seen the kid for a long time now, but she'd be full grown. Heck, I've even forgotten the kid's name at this point. I'm bad with names. I'll forget a name I heard two days ago, let alone two decades ago.

My 63 year old self is still talkingshit when I'm doing my very best. Sorry that was a bit deep for a Sunday morning. I will say I was a very adorable ten-year-old self. Most of these jokes were all you could find of his comedy online. I'm happy he's started releasing new stuff online.
These jokes were also funny they're very difficult to top. Ellen always included her best jokes all the way thru her stand up. I think comedians are like Rock Stars. Fans want to here the old faves.
That you can still hit even close to that (note wise), is impressive. You were great back then and your output has only matured and developed with you. Awesome.
