i’m so happy you mentioned the warcraft 3 mods in starcraft 2! i found those recently and they are AMAZING. far and away better than Reforged, unit pathing in the mod made me shed a tear it’s so perfect
Oh man, so nice to finally get to see some release dates :D . And within somewhat reasonable time frame, too! Quite stoked for several of these releases. I don't think the devs behind Industrial Annihilation will ever learn. Honestly their work feels like a cash grab by now, I think. It's interesting you mentioned RTS/FPS hybrids. It's a genre I'd really like to see more of, it's so much fun. I've played quite a bit of Natural Selection 2 and C&C Renegade. It's a difficult tightrope to walk though, I guess. I'm in the testing team for C&C Renegade X Firestorm, an in-development title that's also an RTS/FPS hybrid, although the base building part is admittedly quite limited (it plays more like Battlefield). If you've got any cool tips for RTS/FPS games that are good, please let me know! :D
Hi and thank you for the comment. I mention every such RTS/FPS hybrid I find as I feel like this RTS subgenre needs to get at least one successful game. I replayed C&C Renegade countless times, and have tried out Renegade X in the past. One of my own friends is a tester :) Silica is the one people give a lot of positive comments about, and I talked about it more in my previous video.
@@perafilozof I've tried Silica, but either it's just not it, or it needs a lot more time in the oven, I'm not sure yet. At the moment it feels half-baked, either way. With a bit of luck it'll grow out to be a good game though :) .
That is 100% true. The angle you have to consider is that people who make games don't make a profit from the length of play, but number of copies sold. A solo indie dev can't live off 5000 copies sold and people playing multiplayer every day. He lives off 50,000 copies sold and most never playing the game again after finishing the singleplayer campaign.
Glad I could help! Come back next weekend for even more :) Until than you will want to check out this playlist of mine: ruclips.net/p/PLRYGjguAn0CFpLi_MlTb6PIgLkXQM632Y
Hi and thanks for the feedback and praise. It takes more to collect the information and talk to the developers than to edit and publish. But it is satisfying work. Which of these are you most existing about?
@@perafilozof D.O.R.F. / Tempest Rising Because of who the Devs are... althought I'm worried I've got my hope a bit too high. Side note: If you haven't seen the Warcraft 3 Mod (Warcraft Chronicles of the Second War) its a remake of the Warcraft 2 Campaign in Warcraft 3 and its insane... Like the amount of Work that's gone into it - is what I wish Warcraft 3 Reforged had been.
Hi and thanks for sharing your favorite. I have very high hopes for it after playing the demo and beta. And, yes, I have seen the mod for Warcraft 2 campaigns in Warcraft 3. But I felt it was old news to add them to this video. Do you think I should mention them in the next video so more people check them out?
@perafilozof that would be up to you if you should add it or not. A few games on this list I had never heard of, so I've gone and wishlisted them. That way, i can look into them when i have video game funds. MonsterHunterWilds kinda ate my budget for this rest of this year, haha. Anywho, it's still a cool video. Enjoy your day/night, mate.
@@perafilozof Out of these? D.O.R.F cuz it reminds me of the Old school CnC ganes like RA2 ans TibSun in a good way. And I grew up playing CnC games. Theres also another one I really like cuz of the artstyle, which is Dustfront I think.

There is something really pleasing about the Scouring graphics, almost as if it had a miniature or stop moion quality to it. About single x multiplayer, I am a single player dude, but if a game is great AND have a solid skirmish mode with good AI I might play it anyway - if the cost also reflects the lack of a good campaign.
Hi and thanks for sharing your impressions of this game and your thoughts on the topic of multiplayer and Singleplayer. I am glad you like the look of the game! Hope you will enjoy it
Man, Tempest Rising is surely my awaited wishlist. Not other than that, both the GDF and the Tempest share's alot from C&C Red Alert! GDI, NOD, Allies and Soviets alike!
Scouring looks interessting! The cover(?) look of D.O.R.F. (which is funny to read as a german btw) seems to be a tribut to KKND. The gameplay looks like mix a C&C and also KKND. Iam very curious about it! After watching several RTS-videos by you - you've got one abo more :D
Hi and thank you for sharing and become a new subscriber! Hope you will discover many more RTS games you like on my channel. Yes, D.O.R.F. is one of the thumbnails used in this video. Different gamers see different influences on it, but it is definitely retro and inspired by a few old school games.
To an extent yes. But they are doing a few things differently and I think most people are exited about the great singleplayer but also the multiplayer is very popular in each playtest and beta.
Very true my friend! And they keep improving and making better and grander projects outdoing even AA and AAA companies. Thank you for the comment! Which games are you most looking forward to?
AYYE LES GOOO! My bad review of Industrial Annihilation made it in the video! 😂 Couldn't agree more with your statements on that game. Such a let down.
Haha, yeah, that one didn't live up to any promises. Thank you for watching, and for posting your review :) I honestly hope they take the feedback and do what is right. What games are you looking forward to?
I agree with you about the Scouring, I have no interested in the RTS game if it doesn't have a good single-player campaign. Since I almost never play multiplayer games.
Hi and thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. A few people have commented that the developers have talked about the SP part so that might happen after all. I hope so
Im glad Broken Arrow is getting a decent campaign. Its nice to play offline without sweats and also cheaters (which there are plenty of according to another reviewer)
@@perafilozof I love that you cover mods updates and sales as well! The whole package of RTS :) Also i was really disappointed with the Crown of Greed playtest, it lacks so much stuff from Majesty 2 for example.
Yeah, I try to include as much as I can. Thank you for the feedback! That is ok, its just a playtest and they haven't added to much into the version, it is just the basic gameplay right now.
I'm really looking forward to play dorf when it comes out I'm hoping there multiple types of reasouses and are able to unlimited like c&c I like in tiberan sun you can spread the reasouses anywhere you want on the map id spend all day spreading tibearian as much as I can
Empire Eternal looks amazing. A rts through the ages would be nice but i don't think any has done this is idea i have. Resources run out like gold or oil so why not when aging up new deeper deposists can be found because you have more advanced technology opening up maybe area's of the map which had not and are suddenly very valuable switching the map dynamic.
Hi and thanks for the comment. There are some games that do it like that. Once new tech is unlocked new resources show up, Civilization does this for example.
@@perafilozof Yea put i also meant like how we find new gold deposists 2 or even 3 km deep. So getting extra deposists of resources we already have unlocked was what i meant.
No new info on that game, I am in contact with the devs, so when they have something I am sure they will let me know. I showcased it in the previous video here: ruclips.net/video/UljBtW-byXo/видео.html
Has anyone here ever hear of / play Goblin Commander? It was a old RTS game years ago that had multiple goblin factions, base building and sometimes 3rd person unit control. Truly a unique game and one I'd love to see tried again in modern days. Be that a spiritual successor or a proper sequel . I can still hear the *MUNCH MUNCH* "MMMMmmmm" sound bit from the giant ogre unit after eating something
My fav was the red goblin faction with the sharpshooters. they had such a cool look, and being able to enter some of your buildings was also neat from the units perspective
I saw some sort of a Goblin something game on Steam... but I didn't like what was there shown right now. So I haven't included it in my videos so far. I hope I can find something similar you will enjoy in the future!
@@perafilozof "Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde" is the full name of the game I'm remembering. It came out in 2003 on Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube. Indeed it does! The playtest is currently running and I showcased the game much more in-depth here : ruclips.net/video/Kg-FvHDfHss/видео.htmlsi=fKREAiRlAD7GzpBX
@@perafilozof joined the playtest and it seems a bit chaotic(im a noob at rts games) but seems simple enough, one could get the hang of it after few hours. Will check the link thanks!
@@perafilozof Yes this game will probably be really good. Units level up and look cooler when stronger and can even use heal potions and have an inventory for that.
9:50 so many generals ZH mods out there, but i love the European mod (yes, it has bad glitches and the euro factions were OP). But it that's why it was a kick back and enjoy mod.😅 Not to mention carrying my favorite tank of all time. "Experiment leopard 4?"dont quote me on that 😅.
Lots of grass in The Scouring, and looking very nice. I wonder how performant it is. (I know, a completely random comment, but it looks nice. Grass and similar vegetation in RTS is often just a few very visible quads slapped together to forma a patch. Or no object at all, just a ground texture. Tho it seems it's changing now. I recall being impressed by vegetation in Sudden Strike 4. Up to that point I think only Original War had noticeably good grass in RTS...) 24:43 - Late first war basestar from Blood and Chrome ❤ First Cylon war ships were so much better.

Sick video! Can I suggest a video for next time? Could you do a review on "battle for vera", I played a while ago and its a really fun single player RTS game that has a very though AI too tight against! Have a good day🎉
Hi perafilozof What is your idea behind adding " new rts games" and " rts sales" in the same video. I feel like it would be better if you made 2 seprate video's.
Hello! In short, because my main focus are updates and new games, I only added sales recently to point out some good or OK games that are on sale at that moment. I am not interested in making sale only videos as there are other people already doing those full time.
Hi everyone! Is the Command & Conquer™ Remastered Collection - SALE just an EA subscription or are they all the games themselves so I pay once and play whenever I want?
A good RTS is only as good as their campaigns are genuinely good along with the game's lore and worldbuilding. RTS games like SoaSE managed to be liked despite not having a campaign in the first game and the 2nd (until the actual campaign comes out) is due to its lore and worldbuilding.
I agree to a point. There is also the fact that a single skirmish can take up to 10-20 hours to finish in Sins. So it takes longer to try everything. Like how people play Civilization for three decades despite no campaign.
It is even more than that, but that is beside the point here. Simple a lot more players want a singleplayer story campaign rather than multiplayer PvP. And more importantly for the developer, they are more likely to buy.
Do you think the devs of the azeroth reborn mod will include the rexxar campaign in it? I really hope so because I've been waiting so long to experience a campaign like that again
I read that they don't like how to works and looks... so probably not. I love that campaign myself and I was disappointed when I read that. Favorite Warcraft faction?
@perafilozof damn that's so unfortunate, the wait continues for an experience like that. From what I've seen but haven't played yet, spellforce 3 reforced plays kinda like that I think I'm not sure though. As for my favorite faction it's probably gonna be the orcs, even though I love arthas and his story and the faction mechanics of the humans, hellscream thrall and Cairne are such cool characters and the orc roster is cool af especially the orc shaman 😎
I think most ppl avoid the multiplayer is due to skill gaps pressure thats why they like to have campaign instead... if only there's away to attract ppl to play multiplayer even if its just coop
I love space RTS, but I have 1 pet peeve which I see in some of them. I HATE stationary spaceship combat. What I mean is that ship reaches it's effective range then stops and starts shooting. It just hovers there and unloads into enemy, no evasion, no inertia, no nothing. It works in land based RTS, but in space it grates on my nerves. I need to see some movement, it can be minimal like small change in elevation, some side to side movement, whatever. Making spaceship perfectly still in combat scenarios is often a "no buy" for me.
That is an excellent point. But it is very hard to produce such a game so developers don't really try much. This is why MP space games give a much more immersive effect
@perafilozof It can't be that hard. Just look at SW: Empire at War. Even when stationary, you can press space (cinematic camera which should be mandatory for every space rts) and observe fighters flying around your ships. And during battle, it's cinema. The only static ships are long-range missile corvettes. The sight of huge imperial destroyers slowly moving forward (despite long since entering max range) feels great. It's like observing Battle over Scarif for the first time every time. The same goes for Gothic Armada 2, where manoeuvring is crucial. Just in this video, compare Existance:TOR and Battlestar Galactica: 2 static blobs of ships exchanging fire vs. line ship on full throttle engaging enemies in every direction while point defence sweating to escape a salvo. I don't want to throw shade at E:TOR as their scope is bigger, with land portion, they are indie, and I'm just doing Statler and Waldorf number on the net instead of being productive. I wish them the best and they will be on my wishlist because as I said: I love space RTS.
I know and understand your wishes, but the sad truth is there is obviously not enough potential in the market for people who invest in such games. You can find developers easy, but the money for the investment...
It might just be me, but I tend to find any early-access, no matter how complete, as a way for free testing. One of the only, if not the only, game I bought in EA decided to release a lot of ....... contraversial changes in the week before release. Last I checked, I think the devs have stopped support for it and it still hasn't received all of the planned features I was anticipating. And that was from a game which is considered very good.
Hello and thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences on the topic of Early Access games. I have had all sorts of experiences myself, but one thing I definitely disapprove of is setting a high price on very little content.
@@perafilozof you disapprove of pricing based on low content, fair enough but i have to ask you this if said game had a KS and preorder for a set price and then for whatever reason the devs decide to release a EA version (lack of funding or simply get people in really early) do you think it fair for future EA players to buy in at a lower cost than what KS or preorder people already spend? now the common answer of people will be, wait until 1.0 release, maybe even wait for a sale after thoroughly reading/watching reviews and first impressions content (because i know i will) why preorder? why back a game on KS? why get into EA in the first place? that's for the individual to decide if they want to spend cash before a product is done or in its 1.0 release, risking to potentially lose cash they may deem disposable
@@MrTBSC Hi, funding developers based on your preference, like, love, or just being supportive is fantastic in my book. I know I overpaid dozens of games I loved to see made. But once you go into EA to sell a product there has to be something you are selling that is at least close to the value of that money. You can probably find yourself games with 10 times more content for the price of IA right now.
@@perafilozof as said it's up to the individual if they want to risk spending cash on EA ... to me it's a matter of properly disclaiming where the current state of the game is, give the consumer a clear and transparent overview of what they get themselves into for the asking price for them to decide with the proper information if they really want to invest the money now or rather wait what i am currently seeing is that too many people seem to harshly bash and rather reviewbomb the game .. which is not constructive to anyone at all .. and many seem to have beef with the devs because of PA ... and then go further reviewbomb this game simply out of spite .. what happened to rational constructive critique?
I agree just getting up on the bandwagon isn't helpful to anyone. Expectations are a big thing and when you break those people who didn't read the specifics will go vengeful on you. That is the nature of things. But still, EA means something universally on Steam. Developers should have known this.
Hi, I can't know which one you saw as I have three being tested. If it is the one with single building and knight that is The Scouring the first game on this list. The second is D.O.R.F. , the picture with buildings and transports on the street. The third is from Age of Darkness Final stand, the one with the wooden castle.
@@perafilozof I bought Knights of Honor II recently and I'm enjoying it, I play a lot of Age of Empires too. I am waiting for Tempest Rising, Empire Eternal, I'm also keeping an eye in a game called "Viking City Builder" looks like Manor Lords but just Vikings.
Hi and thanks for the comment. Glad you like this new game. Yes, Tempest Rising is late mostly due to added development time and changes around the business side of the publisher.
Urgh, super disappointing to hear that there were no lessons learned by Industrial Annihilation devs. Planetary Annihilation was much the same; released too early and only in the last couple of years became fleshed out (them having the cheek to release a paid extra game (Titans) to actually finish the work. I guess it was silly of me to ever get my hopes up for any game coming from those devs.

I really hope the Broken Arrow devs work on the optimization. I think it is imperative to the game's success. The game runs poorly even on high-end hardware.
I definitely perfer campaign/story to multiplayer personally. I have probably had the most fun playing multi with friends but once multi dies down if you have no/poor campaign then the game is kinda pointless :( a good campaign is ever-green
you do know that if you have old versions of the warcraft games you can get them to work on modern systems really easy by using the blizzard launcher and inputting the cd keys for them this has been a thing for a while now you dont have to buy the remastered version at all that is just people not paying attention to the whole story like always
Oh my oh my... The scouring looks awesome after the total failure of blizzard remaster... Especially since Warcraft 1 is still a game I very much love. DORF still looks so awesome. The progress seems pretty good, it will be a blast ! Industrial Annihilation is an epic fail. Read the comments and watched some videos about it, it's not an EA, it's a tech demo with nothing in it. I'm so disappointed by the devs. After testing the demo, I know I will jump again on pre-purchase stuff with Tempest Rising ! I shouldn't but I won't be able to stop myself. Really interested by Xeno Conflict... I'm really digging the visuals, let's hope it turns out well. Been following Existence for a while now, after trying the demo, I felt lost, the game felt clunky and complicated with the army customization, not sure this one is ready either with a lot more development time, it could be pretty good. Crown of Greed is really making me think about Age of Darkness, in other words, it looks amazing ! I really love the aesthetic. Loved Majesty so this one could be super fun. Empire Eternal is a game I'm a bit worried about, we'll see what people think? It looks good but it also looks tedious and tedious management is not what I"m looking for in a RTS. Endeavor and a few other on the list look very good but I don't feel like they will be ready for 2025 but I wish them the best and I'll be sure to keep an eye out when they'll release.e I'm glad to see nice games on the way when game awards were so disappointing and plagued with DEI.
@@mesarthim640 hi and thank you very much for leaving so much feedback on so many of these games. It really helps me in what I do to learn from the audience and talk to both sides, devs and players. Endeavor might not look the best, or play the best, but for the very first game from its developer it shows incredible talent. The rest do need more time to get better and more complete while Tempest Rising, I think, only needs more players playing to iron it out completely.
@@perafilozof You're welcome, I enjoy commenting because I know you will read and answer me no matter how much I write. TBH, Tempest Rising is already fantastic, it plays well and I can't wait to see the 3rd faction. Endeavor is a game I am very much looking forward to but just like Hyperwar, Incarnus Warfare and Fractured alliance, it's a game which will need time. All those already look very good but they need more time to become a success. And I do not want them to make the same mistake as Industrial Annihilation which is an absolute shame: Dear devs, don't do that, ever ! RTS is a genre that is already not very successful but if you do this, you're going to make our community lose trust in the RTS genre. Anyway, pretty glad things are slowly coming along, I'm always eager to see more RTS but I do not wish to see them to soon if they're not ready.

He lives off 50,000 copies sold and most never playing the game again after finishing the singleplayer campaign.
This was great! Finding new RTS titles is challenging, but now I've got a few more for the wishlist.

This video must have taken ages to make... so seriously good job.

Im glad Broken Arrow is getting a decent campaign. Its nice to play offline without sweats and also cheaters (which there are plenty of according to another reviewer)

@perafilozof nice
Sounds familiar, I just can't remember which game it was. I have played so many, they are mixing together in my mind over the years

Idk if it ever ended up being ported to steam.

Up to that point I think only Original War had noticeably good grass in RTS...)

Hi perafilozof
What is your idea behind adding " new rts games" and " rts sales" in the same video.
No, it is a single purchase on Steam.
@@perafilozof Aye. But sometimes game that have rich lore and worldbuilding could use a campaign.
multiplayer requires fast button mashing when single player you can relaxe and not worry about the quality of internet connection.
Thx for the reply. Yes, I know many people liked how Spellforce 3 reforced plays out. It is different and people really want something different.
I think most ppl avoid the multiplayer is due to skill gaps pressure thats why they like to have campaign instead... if only there's away to attract ppl to play multiplayer even if its just coop
This is very true. This is why co-op is such a great mode, you play with others and learn from them while not being outplayed.
@@perafilozof you disapprove of pricing based on low content, fair enough
but i have to ask you this
if said game had a KS and preorder for a set price and then for whatever reason the devs decide to release a EA version (lack of funding or simply get people in really early) do you think it fair for future EA players to buy in at a lower cost than what KS or preorder people already spend?
now the common answer of people will be, wait until 1.0 release, maybe even wait for a sale after thoroughly reading/watching reviews and first impressions content (because i know i will)
why preorder?
why back a game on KS?
why get into EA in the first place?
that's for the individual to decide if they want to spend cash before a product is done or in its 1.0 release, risking to potentially lose cash they may deem disposable
@@perafilozof as said it's up to the individual if they want to risk spending cash on EA ... to me it's a matter of properly disclaiming where the current state of the game is, give the consumer a clear and transparent overview of what they get themselves into for the asking price for them to decide with the proper information if they really want to invest the money now or rather wait
what i am currently seeing is that too many people seem to harshly bash and rather reviewbomb the game .. which is not constructive to anyone at all ..
and many seem to have beef with the devs because of PA ... and then go further reviewbomb this game simply out of spite .. what happened to rational constructive critique?
I agree just getting up on the bandwagon isn't helpful to anyone. Expectations are a big thing and when you break those people who didn't read the specifics will go vengeful on you. That is the nature of things. But still, EA means something universally on Steam. Developers should have known this.

I definitely perfer campaign/story to multiplayer personally. I have probably had the most fun playing multi with friends but once multi dies down if you have no/poor campaign then the game is kinda pointless :( a good campaign is ever-green
That is a very good point in favor of a game having a singleplayer in the first place or made and added later.
you do know that if you have old versions of the warcraft games you can get them to work on modern systems really easy by using the blizzard launcher and inputting the cd keys for them this has been a thing for a while now you dont have to buy the remastered version at all that is just people not paying attention to the whole story like always
Hello, no, I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing

Can't comment. I don't play them, sorry.
There is one more, a special one! Sanctuary: Shattered Sun www.youtube.com/@sanctuaryshatteredsun
Endeavor and a few other on the list look very good but I don't feel like they will be ready for 2025 but I wish them the best and I'll be sure to keep an eye out when they'll release.e
I'm glad to see nice games on the way when game awards were so disappointing and plagued with DEI.
@mesarthim640 And I am always glad to be able to talk to fellow fans about these games. I wish more companies invested into these developers. I have a huge video talking about this subject coming up and some of the developers pitched in their thoughts for that video too. I think you will enjoy it very much.
@@perafilozof I hope this video will have a lot of success. I hope youtube will also warn me when it will be out -_- I love this kind of video as it is so informative and we get to place a name and a face on the devs who made the games we love so much, learning why a problem is hard to fix or why there is a lack of update. Keeping in touch with your community is always important.
@mesarthim640 Thx! I hope so too. It is an important topic and I think many would be interested
