The fact that we never got super Mario galaxy two as part of super Mario 3-D all stars on the switch pisses me off. And yet, here it is being played on a steam deck! My impression level is through the roof.
@@sunofpearl89 you know what Else is also Nintendo‘s loss? Maybe one of the reasons Galaxy 2 didn't make it is because using Yoshi with a Pro Controller or Joy-Cons felt unreliable. The Steam Deck trackpads help tremendously with pointer controls compared to an analog stick. Another reason as to why they should have ported the games instead of emulating them; Yoshi could have had an auto-aim system like Z-targeting, but I can see 3D All-Stars was a quick way to fill the 2020 holiday gap amidst the delays due to COVID.
@@SamDoots What settings help best improve performance? I tried the power tools extension and turning off smt, still get massive FPS drops, plus this drastically reduces battery life.

Super Mario Galaxy works flawlessly for me on Deck through Dolphin/Emudeck for about 20 minutes or so but then the framerate tanks. Relaunching the game solves the problem. Seems like a RAM problem?
Question how did you find out what track pad values work best for you for example you use 25000 and you knew 2720 was a full 180 turn how did you find those numbers
How did you set this up? When I tried to use the trackpad in Mario Galaxy this way, it was very jerky and didn't behave like a normal mouse track pad at all.
I didn't do anything special. Just used the Vulkan backend and I'm playing at 1x resolution because 2x caused too many drops. I also enabled "start in fullscreen".

I’ve been trying to run Mario Galaxy 2 on my steam deck but its incredibly slow and laggy. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I’ve been running the game at 1440p, but even setting it down to 1080p does nothing.
why would you run it at a higher resolution than the native resolution? Since it is 16:9 game, not 16:10 like the display on the steam deck, use 1280x720 (the screen is 1280x800). Haven't tried it myself yet, but for emulation there are often speed hacks.
@@PADDYPOOP Ah ok. 720p might still work, though I always like to run at native resolution or perfect fractions so likely 1080p is the way to go. My guess is there are tweaks you could do but again, don't have personal experience with this game (yet!)
Try installing a plugin loader called Decky. Then using Decky's plugin store to install powertools. Under powertools, disable SMT and turn threads down to 3.
