Thank you for talking about this, it's awareness and clear thinking that's missing, sometimes legitimate empathy becomes devouring.
Your hands down my favorite ex Mormon, I wonder what John delin would say about this stuff.

I don't know. It's risky talking about this stuff. His platform is monetized and he relies on donations. That makes it more of a risk to cover controversial topics.

Of course it’s not the treatment. It’s an important by product of the treatment. This has been shown in multiple ways through many testimonies and examples.

@@oliviamaynard9372I think the distinction here is the puberty blockers. If a child goes on puberty blockers and then on to cross sex hormones then it’s pretty certain they will be sterile. If you never go through puberty then you don’t have the ability to reproduce. The fact that there are a lot of sterile people in the world does not provide an ethical foundation to knowingly create more sterile people. Especially if those people disproportionately represent a historically vulnerable group, ie, gay or autistic kids- even trans kids. This is arguably the practice of eugenics under the guise of progressive benevolence. To promote this practice requires both willful ignorance and mental gymnastics.

Leave trans kids alone. I am from Ohio and live in Texas. If you want gay kids to stop being transed. Stop the rampant conversion therapy in both states. Teach kids it's ok to be homosexual.

What if someone has a kid who wants to be a eunuch. Do you think that child should opt for castration when he turns 18?
According to the Wpath guidelines, version eight, “as with other gender diverse individuals, eunuchs may also seek castration to better align their bodies with their gender identity. As such, eunuch individuals are gender nonconforming individuals who have needs requiring medically necessary gender-affirming care” (Brett et al., 2007; Johnson et al., 2007; Roberts et al., 2008).
I think the Wpath organization has deviated from rational and fact driven, evidenced based standards of care.
Eunuch, is now a gender identity in my LGBT community. I cannot believe this is happening.

@@oliviamaynard9372let’s take that a step further. As long as they are 18 years old, should individuals who are of age, be supported by a clinical staff to identify as a pirate with one leg, and one eye and ask for a surgery to remove one eye, and one leg? What if an 18-year-old identifies as a blind person? Should medical staff offer support to remove that person’s eyes? What if a 18-year-old identifies as a victim of suicide? Should medical staff assist them in ending their life? What if identical twins feel that they should be Siamese twins? Should the medical establishment support them by fusing their bodies together? Is there any limit to what you feel should be accepted?

@@oliviamaynard9372 help me understand why it would be OK to affirm someone’s identity claim that they are eunuch, and then allow them the option to use a medical doctor, a qualified surgeon, to remove their testicles, so that that person can feel better in their own body? Why is that less silly then someone who identifies as a pirate and wants to get one leg, and one eye removed?
The approach is the same. In both scenarios, a person id making an identity claim, and based on that claim, a qualified, board-certified surgeon is removing perfectly healthy organs, because the person under going to surgery believes that it’s going to make them happier. Why would one scenario be silly and ridiculous, but the other scenario not be silly and ridiculous?
In both scenarios, a surgeon is removing perfectly healthy organs when it is not medically necessary for their health.

Do you honestly consider that an ethical argument for permanently medically altering children for the sake of an incoherent ideology? Even if trans people have always existed, queer theory has not. That’s what the core issue is here. This is about medicalizing kids for the rest of their lives for the sake of queer theory- the very Opposite of human rights.
