We have maintained 30 feeders for many years now. We have tried most feeders but have settled on First nature feeders. They are made in USA, very easy to clean and hummers like them.
Sugar is plant based. It comes from sugar canes or sugar beets. It has no preservatives. It isn't empty calories since bees 🐝 and birds 🐦 are meant to collect nectar.
Bob, Would it not be a very dangerous situation installing a hummingbird feeder, oriole feeder or any type of grain feed bird feeder to a window. I would be alittle nervous of the bird flying into the window. Just my opinion. Love what you do and your store is really great.
Bob Rogers hi Bob, thank you very much. Actually window feeder are recommended preventive measure against bird window strikes, it takes away any reflection, plus the birds are aiming to land for food not thinking they can fly through. It’s not a problem at all. 👍😊 , Bob
I’ve had a hummingbird feeder window hanger for several years and haven’t had any problem. It’s really neat to sit on my living room couch and watch them eat!
My feeder that was very expensive, was made of metal and it rusted! Is there any way to salvage it? I sanded it off, but am afraid to use it, for the sake of the hummingbirds, do I need to throw it away and go plastic?
hi there, thank you for the subscription, rusted metal,, I would indeed be careful with that, there is a acid wash process metal workers have that MAY ?? work but to honest I'm not sure, our feeders are of high quaility , you can order on line or come into one of our shops, gilligalloubird.com thank you :0)
Store is up and running bigger that ever, because of supply chain problem with Covid, we are trying to keep the website current at possible, call or email us and we can tell you what is available, thanks , Bob
Don’t buy food - make your own. 1 cup sugar to 4 cups boiling water. Let cool and store remainder in fridge last up to 7-10 days. You have to change your feeder nectar every 2 - 3 days .. 2 in warmer weater
Nancy Moore it depends on the feeder a little, if the nectar is spilling out it will attract them, also don’t over fill the feeders, as I mentioned in this vid the quality feeders make a big difference. Sometimes making your nectar less sweet will help too. 😎💪🇨🇦😁
Do not change the nectar formula - 1 part sugar (1 cup) to 4 part water (4 cups). If your feeder has yellow - it attracts wasps .. also all feeders spill except the saucer type feeders.
Esther Demicco lots of ways really, as summer progresses cut back on the sweetness, nectar guards, moulded nectar ports , non gravity feeders that leak, only fill feeder half to 3/4 full , a better quality feeder has built in features to help with that . 😊👍 thank you
Good Morning - our hummingbird food is Nature's Garden Party -A hummingbird nectar that provides birds with a very close substitute for flower nectar. It is a blend of 3 different sugars plus vitamin C and other added nutrients. No colouring is added in order to avoid any possible harm this additive may cause the birds. The colouring on feeders is more than enough to attract potential dinner guests.
Bertminator morning, feeders as mentioned here make a big difference, depending where you are?, numbers of birds vary yr to yr, experiment with feeder location, put it near flowers, change your nectar often, our plant based seeetner lasts longer and in my experiments the hummers seem to prefer it over sugar, no processed ingredients, chemicals or additives. Never give in!!! 😊👍😎🇨🇦 where are you ? Thanks , Bob
Berminator I have black&blue saliva planted in my garden. Also zinnia flowers and the Mexican sunflowers, black knight Canna. The hummingbirds dine on my flowers more than they dine at the supplement hummingbird feeder. All of the plants were started from seeds Except the Canna it is a rizome. If you plant the plants they will come to your garden. They also will come to a container garden in a small space on a patio or deck if you don't have space for an earthen garden.
"Plant based sweetener" ??? Dude, what do you think sugar is? And the one you are pushing looks like white granules... It's just as "processed" as table sugar, which comes from beets or cane, which are plants.

Doesn't regular sugar come from a plant? Beet and cane sugar. Where else does sugar come from?
Bruceann Yellowega yes, how ever processing, preservatives and additive make it a negative to all of us. 👍🇨🇦😄
How about using organic sugar instead?
I am now having problems with bees at my feeder, what do you recommend as a new feeder for keeping bees away?

so you say thats plant base, so sugar is not plant base? what chemicals have sugar?
ubilive7 it's the additives in sugar, salt, processing etc.
Isn't there bleach as well? or is that only in flour?
The honey gets eaten before there is any problem with spoilage.
Honey is toxic for our hummingbirds, please google, thank you!
I want a hand held feeder!!
we can ship you one, check our online shop at gilligalloubird.com , let me know if I can help,
How do you keep the bees away

What is the name of the plant based sugar?

I tried for two years to attract Hummingbirds to my yard, and never got shit! Only wasps or Nothing. What's the point?

I use my own honey from the hive thinned fifty percent instead of the commercial feed. The birds just go crazy for the nectar, just like the beez.
Victory First nice, our plant based nectar is popular as well, that’s great. How long does the honey 🍯 last , does it spoil fast? 😊
please google honey water for hummingbirds, its very toxic! Thank you!
Honey is very toxic. Please do your research before feeding.
You speak toooo low !
Please fix it
so I can come back to your channel.....
go lucky Senior will do, we have improved sound from the time that vid was made, 😊 is your volume turned up?
The volume is fine.
the first feeder is not worth the money, lots of insects, filled and humming birds did not like it
that is one of the best feeders available, not sure what you doing, perhaps give more information, see if I can help you out?, Bob
