I hear distant echoes of this brilliant song when I hear Weeknd sing “I can’t feel my face when I’m with you - but I love it”. It’s a masterclass in perfect songwriting. A flawless subtle performance commenting on such a painful subject. Australia produces some of the world’s truly gifted talent. What great insight into the world of heroin addiction “You’re like the devil in heaven - every time”. Praiseworthy art at its finest. Oh how the whole world needs to hear more brutally honest songs like this classic. A perfect cautionary tale and one very much worth listening to. “A simple meaningless pop song you heard on the radio”? Good Lord “No”. This is artistic expression married to loving and experienced concern at its best. Like taking Holy Communion at Holy Mass one must chew on the subject, digest it and become one flesh with it. Absolutely brilliant art. 10/10

james reynes best song by far a classic & we get olivia as a bonus Awesome

The Crawl.... OMG! 80s kid surfing and learning music and then you have these guys from my Aussie state!
They all look like my older cousin that was a god to me! :P
Thank you so much Aus Crawl! There is nothing I can say that will come close to compare to what you guys mean to me.....
Incredible stuff! This song is just one of the absolute greatest songs ever!
Great song! But the only one thing that kept him from superstardom globally, was that you couldn't understand what he was singing. So we made it up as we went along :P
Haha yes
January 2024 and this song is STILL amazing!
I just realised James Reyne is our Daryl Hall.
Mandy and I connected at Blacktown Hospital back in 1987 ……. She was a patient and I was an orderly…… greatest love affair ever …. this song brings her back to me.
Olivia Newton John does the backup vocals at the end of the song

Brad M it's about heroin
The girl in this clip was so beautiful. She didnt even have that aweful teased mullet most girls had in those days. So sad to have seen some of my friends fall to what this song is about.
