I’ve never mentioned this anywhere, but Frostbite is actually good, it’s just bugged right now. It’s very inconsistent. It’s supposed to deal 7 Damage of HP (and restoring it) and it knocks back the enemy you kiss for 4 damage. But for some reason, it has a random chance of success, regardless if you do the action command or not. Will look into it soon.
As someone who made it to Floor 100, Bonetail is absolutely ridiculous: 500 health, 30 attack, and 7 defense. I did the math, and given the limited attack buffs in the game at this point through Chapter 2, it is almost mathematically impossible to beat Bonetail as currently constructed. I believe if you are able to get Mario to level 99, and have a bunch of boo sheets/life shrooms on you, it may be possible, but just barely. Also, Art Attack will not help you at all versus Bonetail as the hit box is literally the entire screen.
51:31 Flame Chomps are actually enemies that exist. They don’t really look like chain chomps, they’re the flying fireball spitting enemies that sometimes show up in the 2D games.
Even though there are so many good items in hero mode, ten life shrooms just feels like the right call with a pit this chaotic. Also the appeal scumming is a great strategy, idk why I’ve never thought of that. Well done with this one!
That might actually make it harder because you wouldn’t level up as often and the full heal on level up is pretty much essential with how much damage the enemies do.

So, just incase it wasn't clear why the front enemy was not getting knocked down. Surge hammer was throwing the first enemy into the second one. The throw likely was setting them on their feet rather thrn on the back l.
Fun fact, you can cheese the first half of the pit of 100 trials just by using SlowStopper to just instant kill everything. Sometimes it doesn't work but that's how I almost gotten to floor 100. It still works past 50 but it's a lot more rare for something to instantly perish from it. Edit: Yes yes I get it now it was a bug from 4.0.0
IDK if anyone has said this but golden chomps are probably a reference to super mario sunshine in pianta village when you give the GIANT chain chomp a bath he turns golden before giving the shine sprite
I love the fresh coat of paint that a mod like this gives the enemies, partners, and story. And the badges give a similar feeling to a game of lucky blocks in minecraft, it's just cool to collect and see all the moves that are new and creative
For looking at surge hammer, it looks to be quake mixed with the ultra hammer knockback. The front koopatrol takes 2 while the back ones take 6 (2 from quake and 4 from knockback) So back ones stay down but front one stays up
The level of detail in this mod is incredible! The different badges, their BP costs and the way moves work is all fine-tuned! Also the music! I like that the battle theme of the first Paper Mario is in here!✨✨
You showing off the appeal run strategy is very helpful, I think. Just like when you showed off the money loop with the mispriced mushroom. It's free playtesting for the dev to cultivate a better experience going forward. I'm not sure what the way to code around it is. Something to stop this strategy but not poison casual play. Maybe run becomes less likely to succeed with every successive run against the same enemy? Maybe after the second run you start dropping coins? Who knows. What's important is it's a challenge that can be addressed now.
I think just making the run timer, when perfectly executed, only fill to about 80% or so would be a good solution. That way it's not a free infinite star points exploit, it's a valid strategy that carries a risk you're willing to take for the rewards
The sacrifice of XP to skip some floors is a tough call to make, on one hand you prevent any risk of having to use items, but on the other hand you can get more XP to increase survivability and any drops from the enemies.
I hardly ever watch Paper Mario mods, but witnessing this modded pit of 100 trials was pretty awesome! I'm now rooting for you to make it to the end my guy! 🤘😎 🤘
Fingers crossed the last 10 levels leading up to bonetail are a combined boss rush thing. Like Magnus Von Grapple 2 AND Beldam and Marian on one of the levels.
if you are going to save state for the parlor (ie using emulator) couldnt you just use slow down for it instead? I mean it would make it easier to time
For the record, based on their design, it looks like those purple spinies can be jumped on since they have a flower instead of a spike on their head. Especially since trying to hammer them damages you. That being said, i dont actually know, just an observation 🤷♀️
If you’re referring to the Seedy Pod enemies that are a Pokey variant, they weren’t able to be jumped on in the last update but it’s possible it was changed to them poking you from the side and you can jump on them now since that behavior is new?
That is brutal when all the enemies do 14 damage or more further on, enough to where life shrooms almost don’t matter outside of delaying the inevitable
I used save state scumming on 4.0.0 along with a bug in that version that had Slowstopper still OHKO enemies in the Pit to get down to floor 100. I can conclusively say that, of all the areas in the game we can get to as of now, we just don't have powerful enough badges to make the pit possible casually right now. Not to mention Bonetail's stats which another commenter surely has told you about.
Flurrie isn't the second worst in TTYD, that would be Bobbery. Flurrie isn't great, but I wouldn't say she's one of the worst either. This mod however makes her excellent! I also agree with how interesting it is.

@@Bupboy Honestly Bobbery is really mid. He's good casually, but if you look outside of that, he's the worst non optional partner. Because he has the same weakness Yoshi has, with none of the benefit. Because he lacks a defense piercing option (in fact he's the only partner who can't pierce defense) enemies with defense hurt his damage output, which makes him a worse option overall tackling those kinds of enemies. By comparison Yoshi's weakness is nullified by the fact that his multhit moves benefit so much from damage scaling which is a crucial component in the battle system that even playing casually just knowing this means you can quite frankly run over basically anything. Even outside of this, there's nothing Bobbery does better than anyone above him. He has the highest HP sure but is outclassed as a tank by Flurrie who has only 5 less HP and can heal herself and pierces defense. She also doesn't cost FP to hit any enemy she wants to. And when it comes to spread damage options his Ultra Rank move is easily the weakest option, because Stampede hits every enemy on the screen and will just nuke them with damage buffs, Fiery Jinx is pierces defense, Shell Slam shreds every defensive enemy while piercing, and getting 1 extra point in attack, and Gale Force can give you an insta kill win condition or limit how many enemies are on the field. You're just spending more FP for just a worst version of other partners moves. If you want to do big damage with numbers on a partner for multiple enemies just use Yoshi with attack badges. Even enemies he's supposed to be useful for like Clefts Embers you can just OHKO Clefts with Koops or Yoshi, instead of spending 9FP just to do a bit of damage, or having to flip and KO them, when I can just KO them faster with better options and it also comes off as a more expensive Quake Hammer, with Embers I can just Gale Force or use Koops since they are weak to Gale and Koops has cheaper FP utility for them. Bobbery does have some useful niches, but not enough to be considered compared to everyone else.

iirc with flurry's attack, when you put your cursor on an enemy, you can click the A button to cancel waiting for the rest of the animation. Avoids the problem where the cursor zips out sometimes.

Theoretically, you could get to Floor 50 and leave to restock on life shrooms and get much higher stats going in.
