@@curiosityimagination8118 Theres not such thing as "pure Mongols". They were originally just a bunch of nomads of different tribes gathered up to be called "Mongols"

I'm a Mongolian and I studied the origin of the name Mongolia in history class. We said there were 3 alternative theories, of which I liked the most is that Mongol simply referred to people living by the streams of Mon river ("gol" means river"). It is common still today in Mongolia to refer to group of people by the river they live by. Because we are landlocked, people naturally live along rivers for water source, and get named after them.
maaz amjad actually it's a little different, uk never control Republic of Ireland for over 300years, but china did it. They separate because Russia want to take it as the security land between china and Russia
A small correction, after the Mongolian Yuan dynasty fell from power in China, it was the Ming who took over. The ethnically Manchu Qing dynasty came into power after the Ming lost the Mandate of Heaven.
Ming dynasty never controled mongolia and inner mongolia. After Yuan dynasty lost control about China.IT went back its original homeland.and called "Bei Yuan".And after that.TILL qing dynasty.mongolian people always controled nowadays mongolia and inner mongolia...Ming dynasty never controled mongolia.
@Ron Lewenberg Losing the mandate of heaven means that people lose their faith in the dynasty thus many people uprising and the government become so weak that they can't control their subject (many traitors left unchecked) and the uprising. The successful uprising itself means that the government (dynasty) has lose the mandate of heaven and the failure of the uprising means that the government (dynasty) still has the mandate of heaven. In China, if you want to change dynasty, it means the leader has to have the courage to put his life on the line; he/ she either change dynasty and become King or die. It's kind of like a test from the heaven.
I am a Manchu. Mongolia was also Chinese in the Qing Dynasty. China is a multi-ethnic country. We all consider ourselves Chinese, whether Han or Manchu
there is a dessert called gobi dessert.south of the dessert is inner.north of the dessert is outer...in face before 1755,there is a west Mongolian in northern part of Xinjiang and part of Kazakstan before the Manchus genoside these western Mongolian peoples in 1755....
A lot of ethnic mongols live there, but most of them live in rural areas or just some grasslands. I met a lot of ethnic mongols in rural places in Hailar, IM and most of them own a lot of cows and horses many of them set up businesses for tourists
Purevjargal Puujee they still exist, at least 4 million of them. However, they were forced to live simple lives by the Chinese government who doesn’t want them to become capable and independent. Millions of hän Chinese were flooded into Inner Mongolia to solidify China’s claim to the region and now han completely outnumber the mongols and they own all the business and economy. There are still Mongolians who fight against the han occupation but they are simply suppressed and silenced.
Never heard your theory on the name Mongol. The ones Mongolian scholars accept and teach in school are: 1. "Gol" means river even up to today since ancient times. Mon was an old name for a river. Even today we call people that "gols" and this "gols" by the river they live by 2. Mongol is based on the name of a military general during Xianbei tiems.
I understand this is a simplistic map, but Qing dynasty China had Taiwan and Hainan too. I see that Hainan wasn't shown, but Taiwan could have been painted red in 2:00
actually, Inner Mongolians are also called Kercin Mongolians, where the familly Ghengis Khan really came from, while the Outer Mongolians are Karka Mongolians(if I pronounced if right), from some marginal tribes. The nobles are still in Inner Mongolia, but nobles of Outer Mongolia has already been massacred by the Soviet Union.
Qing did lose Taiwan though. Could be after 1895 when the Qing dynasty of China ceded Taiwan Province in the Treaty of Shimonoseki. In any case Taiwan is no longer part of China. 🇹🇼 Taiwan is Taiwan.
Nearly 80%of Inner Mongolia is Han people. There are more Mongolian people living in the grassland. > The Han nationality is 1893,5537, accounting for 78.74 %; > The Mongolian people are 424,7815, accounting for 17.66%; (Including the mixed race of the Han and the Mongolian people, the Hanhe Mongolian culture is more mixed) > Other ethnic minorities are 86,5803, accounting for 3.60%.
Inner Mongolia was the area where the Chengis khan's bloodline khans herd. ..Later the Qing emperors succeeded as the great khan by conquering whole Mongolia and marrying former khan's daughters..Since then, hordes in Inner Mongolia became royal banner men that guard the Qing capital Beijing. So from the standpoint of the Qing capital, the area is inner and closer.
The terms Inner Mongol and Outer Mongol are both meaning geographical and political. Geographically, Inner Mongols lies to the south of the Gobi desert, while Outer is to the north of the Gobi Desert. Politically, Inner Mongols are the early allay of Manchu through royal marriage. Qing empire was Manchu-Mongol alliance. this is a not only political and military alliance, but also royal marriage alliance. During their rise, Manchu leaders forged alliances with various Mongolian tribes such as the Horchin and the Chahars who were to be incorporated in the army of the Qing dynasty. The Manchu and Mongolian troops allied under the Qing fought alongside each other to conquer the Ming dynasty of China. later the khalhaa (so call outer Mongol) joins. Imperial marriage is based in politics. Powerful members of the imperial harem generally have powerful support outside the palace. Mongolian and Manchu are all powerful factions during Qing dynasty. Apparently, many people's knowledge about Mongolia is limited on Chinese fake history and propaganda press. Mongolia has never been a part of China. Vice-versa, China has been part of the Mongol empire. So-called Yuan dynasty is only a part of the Mongol empire. So-called Qing dynasty is Manchu-Mongol Alliance ruling China. Mongolia independence from Manchu Qing on December 28, 1911, even early than Chinese did. Unfortunately, most of the history of the Mongols was written by their enemies like Chinese, Persian, Arabian, Russian, western...That was why full of bias and prejudice.
Yes, and if the Mongol and British Empires are still around today only the Mongols would score more medals at the Olympic Games due to the large numbers of Russians and Chinese winning among other nations they conquered.
DISCLAIMER. Qing didn't overthrow the Mongols it was Ming, then Qing, later on, conquered Mongolia. Inner Mongolia is called "inner" because it is relatively close to the center of "middle kingdom" while outer Mongolia is further away. Republic of China(Taiwan) still claims the whole Mongolia (both inner and outer) as part of their territory.
I think I might know why it is called INNER Mongolia. If I remember correctly, ancient Chinese believed that the closer one got to the center of the world, in this case China, the more civilized it became and vise versa for the uncivilized. Well, since Inner Mongolia is closer to the "center" of civilization, it might be considered closer to the inner part of the circle. Thus making it Inner Mongolia. The same can be said, but in reverse, for why some Chinese call Mongolia and Outer Mongolia.
The name "Mongol" is originated from the phrase "Monkh Tengeriin Gal" which means "The Fire of Eternal Sky" later it became "MonkhGal". Even you can see "Moon, Sun, Flame in blue" in old Mongolian flag.
I can't be sure but I had always thought that China called their Mongolia "Inner" and the independent one "Outer" because the Chinese name for China is "Zhōngguó", which means something like "Middle Kingdom", "Centre Realm", "Core Country", reflecting the ancient viewpoint that China represented the middle of the world. I took it to be that Inner Mongolia is "Inner" for being, literally and metaphorically, closer to the Chinese heartland.
Correct. This is not unique to China, however, many states mapped their state in the center in a "circular" way and thus marked territories accordingly. For example, "Germania Superior" and "Germania Inferior" are east and west accordingly, but in circular maps of the Roman empire with the city of Rome in the center, Germania Superior was "above" or "outer" while Germania Inferior was "below" or "inner".
@@anaphysik The upstream/downstream is a useful association, not necessarily the logic applied for the naming. There was also Britannia Superior and Britannia Inferior that didn't follow any such geographical conventions. The higher/lower elevation is also dubious, given that aside from Britannia being a counterexample again, Pannonia Inferior and Pannonia Superior were also not much different in elevation (even though admittedly the upstream/downstream one applies for the Danube).
kind of true. as a chinese native, for me inner mongolia is like "mongolia within china", while outer mongolia is like "mongolia outside of china". just from the name of these two xD
The real reason Southern Mongolia is called "Inner Mongolia" is that, that part of Mongolia was first defeated by Manchus. You know Manchus are not Chinese people, calling them Chinese Dynasty is actually bit off. They're Manchu Dynasty. Well now they're part of China's 56 ethnics. At that time, they were different race. Before they become Manchu Dynasty, they were just small tribe. They defeated southern part of Mongols and northern China like out of nowhere. Both Mongols and China didn't expect it. And since that part of Mongols is "inside" of Manchu territory, they called it "Inner Mongolia". Then they called parts which they didn't take over as "Outer Mongolia". Eventually they defeated all Mongols and all China, took their land and called their country as Great Qyng Dynasty or Manchu Qyng Dynasty. Fun fact: At first, their written language were more like Mongolian traditional written system. Then they have changed it to Chinese Mandarin somehow.
Chinese here , and I am agree with you, so about you last sentence, U can understand that way; During Qing dynasty, Manchu people lost their language( influence by Chinese)and Chinese and Mongols lost their Customs( strong influence by Manchu)
I think It's better to replace "Manchu are not Chinese" with "Manchu are not Han". You know there's no ethnic called "Chinese" in China. Most of time Manchu can be called Chinese too.
@@林汉娜-b7p all citizens of china are chinese. All 56 ethnic groups in china are chinese. Han chinese are not only chinese in china. Though for most history they dominate various dynast.
China is not a ethno-state. It actually is made up of quite many different ethnicities, and Mongolians are one of the largest ethnic groups living in China.
@@shaaruboqalaf171 Yes, Depend on the data of Sixth time of population census(2010, the seenth will happen in 2020 Nov.), Han Chinese 1.22 billion, Manchus 10.3 million, Mongols 5.98 million, Tibetan 6.82 million I don't know the "Turkic" means , because if you mean the nations who have Tujue(突厥) blood, that's very very confusion, if only lanuauges,Uygur 10.03 million,Qazaq 1.46 million, maybe some more but they are less than 1 million, I'm not sure. And is you mean the nation who has Tujue's blood, the 5 words you said exist Tibetan, all have that.
I want to note that Qing Dynasty was Manchurian empire. Mongolian, Chinese, Manchurian, Tibetian and many other ethnic groups were part of it. For Inner/Outer Mongolia term: Manchurians first occupied Southern Mongolia. From that moment, they had to segregate if they were talking about the Mongols within their influence or not. So, they started using the Inner/Outer Mongolia terminology since mid-17th century. So, Inner Mongolia means, basically, Mongolia in Manchurian Qing Dynasty. However, all Mongolians in any country don’t use Inner Mongolia term. Instead, they call “Uvur Mongol”, which literally means “Southern Mongolia”.

Most people in China today want Outer Mongolia to stay independent. I agree. Some naive nationalists want to annex Outer Mongolia, but Mongolian friends please don’t listen to them. Most of us just want friendly relations, healthy trade flow, and exchange of cultures.

Those who opposed the Russians were killed, and some fled to Inner Mongolia. Both Mongolia and Inner Mongolia claimed that they were aristocratic inheritors, Mongolian lost Mongolian, Language is Russian-based, and Inner Mongolia still preserved Mongolian. I am a Chinese Han.
I'm Buryad-Mongol from Khongoodor Tribe (same Kongrat). We belive that we are all sons of Borte Chino from Kiyad Tribe and Chonos Tribe (Nokhos). The word "Mongol" is created by two Mongolian words: "Monkh" means "Eternal" and "Gol" - "Kernel". This means that we are the real Tribes who continues our blood line, keep true traditions of nomad life and believe in Tengri (Sky). Also I see in coments about the word "Siberia". Siberia is mean "impenetrable forest"
dear... “inner” in Inner Mongolia means it’s closer to the main part inner core of the traditional Han Chinese ruling territory, put it plainly it’s closer to BEIJING so it’s called inner...
The names "Inner Mongolia" and "Outer Mongolia" were created by the Qing Dynasty, whose capital city was Shenyang and later Beijing. Inner Mongolia is the "Inner" one because it's closer to the two capital cities.
There is a place near me called "Hope Cove". It is comprised of two other places "Inner Hope" and "Outer Hope". Inner Hope actually surrounds Outer Hope. So it could be some sort of weird English naming thing or even a Celtic thing.
mzk timekiller this is something I did stumble across while writing this video. As I said in the pinned comment I think more Mongolia related videos will happen on day!
@Džudžan Nope, you didn't understand. In Thailand if two people have same last name then it definitely means they're from the same family. This is not necessarily true elsewhere in the world where there's a two or three name system. For example, in America, if two people have the same last name then they may or may not be blood related. On the other hand, in Thailand, these two people are guaranteed to be blood related. And that's by law, not coincidence.
Says the one whose name is Chinese. Lmao. We might be forgot our history but we ain't forgetting who we are. They really love to shout "we are the real Mongols" while being fucked by Chinese in the ass. We are poor but we have a border. And we have our own law and independence.

So why the outter Mongolia is using Russian Cyrillic alphabet??? What is even that? If a country and a civilization can not sustain its own culture, why is still called Mongolia? Today's out Mongolia should be called Mongoussia or Mongolian trators. On the contrary, the Mongolia script and Chinese were the official language for the Yuan Dynasty, which was founded by the 5th Khgan-empror of the Mogol Empire, Kublai Kghan. These two languages are still being used in inner Mongolia, China. China's inner Mongolia sustains the culture and tradition of the Great Mongolia empire, and is the real Mongolia. Who cares how many Genghis Khans' descendants live in the out Mongolia? There might be more England and Irish descends living in the US, why don't we call the US or New York UK or Irland?
The situation is very similar to Macedonia. Old Macedonia was a large area and nowadays the land belongs to Greece, Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria. Similarly, Old Mongolia was a large area and nowadays the land belongs to Mongolia, China (InnerMongolia) and Russia (Tuva Republic).
When the Chinese ruled the region (at least during the Qing and early Republic of China), Inner Mongolia is was called “inner” because its closer to the center (han populated China). It was also more populated and divided into several different provinces. Outer Mongolia was a distant pastoral wilderness further from the centre of Han rule, and thereby the name. Many other places in east Asia has such names, such as Xin Jiang (New Frontier, and in ancient times Xiyu=western territories), Tibet (Western “Weald/collect-/stack up of(mountains?)), Vietnam (further south), Korea (but only Choson, fresh dawn), and ofc japan How the nation of Mongolia as an independent country didn’t include Inner Mongolia I think had to do with either Sun Yat Sen or Yuan Shikai ceding only the Outer Mongolia region to Russia, but I haven’t looked this up.
There are approximately 5.8 million Mongolian (ethnic) in China, and (outer) Mongolia have just 3.1 million entire population. Also, the Mongolia nation abandons the traditional vertical Mongolian script. So, the Inner Mongolia province in China is more likely the orthodox; and the Mongolia Nation actually should use the name "Outer Mongolia".

The Outer Mongolia once called by us Chinese people 漠北蒙古, Means Mongols north of the gobi desert, while the Inner Mongolia called 漠南蒙古, the mongols south of the gobi desert. The ones lives north of the desert were also called the “khalkha Mongols”. These are not two separate countries but a lot of tribes since the Mongolia was not unified after the collapse of the Mongolian empire. While the environment north and south of the desert is quite different, the mongol tribes lived there have some pretty different cultures. the Inner Mongolia was called this way because they live closer to us and considered Inner, they also have more political and economic relationships with the rest of China.
"中國/中華 CHINA" refers to the Chinese nation 中華民族 refers to the "Han nationality 漢族" (before 1949). During the Qing Dynasty, the Han population was 99%. The Manchu population was less than 1% (and the Manchu Emperor of the Qing Dynasty also used the Han Totem "Dragon龍" of the Han nationality. They also learned the history of Han, Chinese 漢語and Chinese characters 漢字 ...). The Chinese official language and text are also Chinese and Chinese characters in Qing dynasty . At that time, most of the population of Inner Mongolia and Xinqiang areas were Han people (today is also). Most of the Tibetans were mixed races of Han and Tibetans (today ID cards are marked as Tibetan). "The founding of the country in Japan only 150 years (after the 13th century, only the local Chinese palaces) and the" South Korea "founded for more than 70 years. Before that. It has always been Chinese territorial and local regimes. The official language is Chinese and Chinese characters. Now most of the Chinese population is the Han nationality. The Han nationality is 92%. The other 54 ethnic minorities account for 8%. 2023: Xinjiang has 55 ethnic groups. Han and Uyghur people have the largest population. > The Han people are 109,20098, accounting for 42.24 %; > The Uyghur people are 116,24257, accounting for 44.96%; (Including some of the Han and Uyghur people mixed) > The other ethnic minorities are 330,7990, accounting for 12.8 %. Most of the Inner Mongolia people are Han people. > The Han people are 1893,5537, accounting for 78.74 %; > The Mongolian people are 424,7815, accounting for 17.66%; (Including the mixed race of the Han and the Mongolian , There are more mixed culture of Han and Mongolia) > Other ethnic minorities are 86,5803, accounting for 3.60%.
Unfortunately in inner Mongolia they are not pure they are mixed with Han and that apparently counts them as 'Mongol', In Mongolia you can see a distinct feature in their appearances whilst in Inner Mongolia they literally look like Han Chinese people. The Mongol script is based from the Uyghur Script so there has never been a traditional Mongolian alphabet, the Cyrillic alphabet is easier to write and would be less hassle in comparison to the Uighur script which would only be used in inner Mongolia. Now according to The Chinese government, Mongols outnumber us in our own homeland but I assure you if you are someone who has been to inner Mongolia and Mongolia you will most likely see these so called mongols not even knowing Mongolian or they literally look like a Han Chinese person. I respect our neighbors but you Chinese really don't know how your government treat the minorities in your country, Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Mongols and Tibetans are soon going to be ethnic Han because of forced rape and the forced chinese interim camps that try to make them more suited for the Han chinese society.

I think Genghis was really very lucky that he did not encounter the military force of 1 million men led by our Chinese War Emperor Qin Shih Huang Di in 200 BC. At that time we Chinese had already invented mechanic bows that could shoot multiple strong arrows in seconds from huge distances. If the arrows were fitted with poison, it must be the deadliest weapon invented by mankind. The modern machine gun cannot match with these deadly arrows that can be shot from far distances and kill people like flies. Genghis´ Mongolian army would be looking like hedgehogs and destroyed by our Chinese Qin army in minutes before they managed to ride forward on their small ponies. Our Chinese War Emperor Qin Shih Huang Di is the real hero of all mankind, he spent only a few years to build the Great Wall, and also a few years to unify the whole of China.....
Bruh why u saying our chinese when ur referring to people who lived 2k years ago. China was invented couple centuries back. Keep ur facts straight. Thats is very misleading.
Using traditional scripts makes the Mongols in china more Mongol than the Mongols in Mongolia? Wouldn't that make Taiwan more Chinese than PRC? It's not like we changed the script because we wanted to forgot our identity. We just had to change it, we were soviet satelite, remember?
The word Inner/Outer comes from a Qing classification of: •"Inner-governed Mongolia" consist of Chahar, Hohhot Tumd, Uliastai, Tuva, Kobd, Alxaa/Ejin, Barag, Qinghai-Tibetan Mongols and Xinjiang Mongols etc. •"Inner Autonomous Outlying Mongolia" which is pretty much the rest of Inner Mongolia except for Alxaa League and Holonbuir. *"Outer Autonomous Outlying Mongolia" which consists of the rest of Outer Mongolia. Mongolia the state totally revoked this Manchu classification while China the People's Republic partially revoked the Manchu classification, with the term Inner redefined to "front" in Mongolian and "inner" in Mandarin (most Manchus use either Northeast Mandarin or Horchin Mongolian so nobody cares what it is called in Manchu). A similar case is in Mongolia they complete removed the 4 Leagues + Kobd administration into dozens of aimags while in Inner Mongolia a league was redefined to an aimag in Mongolian and meng in Mandarin, although 8 of the 11 leagues were eventually remade into cities step by step.
Just one correction, uliastai tuva and khovd (kobd) was apart of the outer mongolian governed areas. Another thing is in outer mongolia we had VERY small population for VERY large land meaning it would be harder to rule the people, so unlike in inner mongolia the manchu qing emperors made puppet rulers in outer mongolia made of chingissid bloodline based in one small trading outpost that is now ulaanbaatar.
@@unodos.4557 Territorially yes Tuva and Kobdo were in Outer Mongolia; administratively not, they were subject to different order. Qing's rule in Outer Mongolia is nlt aas direct as that in Inner Mongolia, but I don't think that's due to "large land with small population". Yes Outer Mongolia is sparsely populated but there's really no logic link here. It's 21st century, so it's better to take Chinggis Khan spirit instead of emphasizing "Chinggisid bloodline". If we all keep our eye on blood then there is no Mongols but the Chakhar imperial house, as all others such as Khalkha and Ordos are led by sideline kings. Chinggis Khan succeed to unite the grassland because he held the idea that all in the grassland are equal, so solely looking at Chinggisid bloodline would be a betrayal of Chinggis Khan spirit.
The term and ideas of Inner and Outer Mongolia are believed to have emerged in early 20th century after the Russo-Japanese War of 1905. At the Treaty of Portsmouth the two sides divided up their spheres of influence like the old boys did back then. Prior to the war the Russian Empire controlled most of northern Qing dynasty, but with 1895 Sino-Japanese War the Empire of Japan came to colonize Taiwan and take control of the whole of Choson, which was Korea in its whole. So the two empires came to direct contact with each others' spheres of influence. Russians lost, the Japanese won. So they had to redraw the spheres of influence and who controls what. Russians would sit tightly in Tannu Tuva (Uriyanqai) Frontier, Khovd Frontier, Jasagtu Khan aimag. Sayin Noyan Khan aimag, Tushiyetu Khan aimag and Secen Khan aimag - basically what is now Mongolia plus Tuva Republic and northeastern parts of Xinjiang (or southern Altai mountains). The Japanese would seize control of Manchuria directly north of Korea and Southern Mongol principalities (basically Inner Mongolia). This is what is taught in schools in Mongolia, still framed as Western and Japanese imperialism, as it was during socialism.

Mongolia was used as a buffer state between China/USSR. Mao did not want to wage war to USSR to claim it back. CCP was weak back then and they viewed Mongolia as not much useful in terms of economics. Today's Mongolia economy is solely dependent on China. The reason the Chinese region is "inner" and the independent country is "outer" is because they are named so in a sinocentric point of view... during the Qing dynasty.
Manchu people was the first-class citizen and the Mongols at the time were only below Manchu in terms of social class. The ordinary Han-Chinese people were the lowest class so I'm not really sure the 'sinocentric' past.
@ You could also argue the two ethnic groups both are heavily influenced by one another. Han Chinese also adopted much Manchu life style.

@@monopalisa619 Yes. Back then the hairstyle and half of the cloth. Basically, back then Chinese are Manchu hairstyle and cloth with Han Confucius ideologies. Also, if you trace all the way back before Han dynasty, the definition of Han is someone who believe in Confucianism and mandate of heaven, etc and it is a cultural concept. Basically the such debate has already ended like 100 years ago. It is now all Chinese now. Also, if someone tell us Manchu is not China, we Manchus will be the first group to kick their ass before Han. The narrative of China as a civilization state is pretty solid. I understand someone try to put this race=nation ethno-state concept. Sorry, that won't work for China, because the Chinese identity is not build on race. It is based on cultural. As Confucius said few thousand years ago: 诸侯用夷礼则夷之,夷而进于中国则中国之 Basically , it means non-Chinese will become Chinese if they follow the Chinese cultural; also Chinese will become non-Chinese if they don't follow the culture. Now Back to Manchus, you can argue that at very early Qing dynasty, they are not Chinese, because Manchus didn't follow the Chinese tradition . However, as the time progressed and they realize they need to rule a lot of people, they start to adopt Confucius values. Frankly speaking, because they are a minority, so they even try harder to follow the Confucius value than the Han. Therefore, in middle and later QIng, they somehow fully assimilated and cannot distinguish themselves from the Han. Similar things happened in England as well. The House of Windsor come from Germany originally, but due to assimilation. They are English now. If you agree that Queen of Britain is a German, then probably your logic would work.

Inner Mongolia has been a part of China for a long time. If you guys have played dynasty warriors or know the history of the three kingdoms period of China, you must be familiar with the name Lu Bu. Lu Bu if from inner Momgolia, his hometown's name was Jiu Yuan back then and it is called Bao Tou now.
Outer Mongolia used to be called Khalka Mongolia while they were still part of China (Qing dynasty). Fun fact: there are actually more ethnic Mongolians living in Inner Mongolia than Mongolia itself. Inner Mongolia kept the Traditional script intact (Mongolian language, written vertically) while Outer Mongolia got completely Russified D:
Khalkha is the major tribe of outer mongolia. Inner mongolia is mixed with chahar horchin and bayad tribes. Even though inner mongolia has more mongols, khalkhas are the largest tribe of mongol peoples, hence being the only ones who managed to wiggle away an independence.
yeah, in order to become independent they had no choice but the adapt to Cyrillic and they even tried not to. But it happened. But in schools, they teach Mongolian scripts as a course. And Qing dynasty was never a Chinese dynasty its Machuranian Qing. During that time different ethnic groups were living far from each other and were living on their own lands until the Mao Zedong era. And saying that "Outer" Mongolia got completely Russified is not true. When I was there I did not fined any one speaking Russian. It has some Russian influence sure, but so does Inner Mongolia. But compared to Kzastan and other countries like that Mongolians barely speak Russian. And they kept their culture. And there are other Mongol ethnic people in Russia too. Here's a fun fact. For mainland China, outer Mongolia is not on the Chinese map ; but for Republic of China, the one in Taiwan right now, outer Mongolia is still on the Chinese map, the map of Republic of China. Cause allowing independence was agreed by the communist, not the ROC government... Also, outer Mongolian cannot write Mongolian, inner monglians do thou, and their language is on Chinese money as well
False. They do write Mongolian, it's called Cyrillic Mongolian (Mongolian language written in Cyrillic script). Just like a lot of you Chinese can't write the Traditional Chinese characters anymore, but Taiwanese do. Would you say Chinese people cannot write Chinese?
@@baganatube Your comparison is false. The relationship between Cyrillic Mongolian and Vertical script is similar to Chinese character and Pinyin(romanized Chinese).
One fortune thing is that we had an ancient civilization next to us more than 1k years ago before we were able to record our own history. So based on ancient Chinese record, Mongol could mean "munkh gaal" which means "eternal fire" in our language.
To these people who say 'more Mongolian people in China', most of the Inner Mongolians are false or fake Mongolians just to get the minority benefits, they are Chinese. We have "Mongolians" like named 李建华, which means 'Lee' 'build' 'China', and that is a solid Chinese name which a Mongolian would never use.

Ok, i am from Mongolia. Inner and outer name comes from Chinese Prospective! For China, Inner Mongolia is “nearer”. One thing! We hate this inner outer thing. Mongolia is Mongolia and the Supersedes all Mongol Empires
It's called Inner Mongolia because it is closer to China. The terms Outer Mongolia and Inner Mongolia are Chinese terms, or specifically Manchurian terms. The Qing rulers divided them because Inner Mongolians live beyond the Great wall but south of the Gobi desert. Their dialects are different too. In fact, Inner Mongolia itself has tons of dialects, sometimes almost incomprehensible. And not really, Inner Mongolians don't want to move out because Mongolia is a pretty much a shithole, sorry but that's just a reality. And Outer Mongolians don't want to live in Inner Mongolia because they don't want to live under the Chinese. I am not Mongolian, but this is what I heard from talking to Mongolian Chinese.
One thing incorrect is that in 1911, overthrow of Manchu empire which has nothing to do with the fascist China or the Chinese and manchus uses the same written scripts as mongols and Manchuria is their homeland. Fascist China also defrauded the world and illegally occupied 7 independent countries(80% of the fascist China’s current landmass), such as Tibet, Mongolia, East Turkistan, Manchuria, Cantonia, Hong Kong, Macau and now threatening Taiwan and all those countries actually gifted to the fascist China by Stalin at the fall of the Cold War since 1945 to help Soviet Union against western invasion. I can say with 100% confidence that if it was not for Stalin’s support of the fascist China, Inber Mongolia, Tibet, Manchuria, East Turkistan and possibly Cantonia, Hong Kong, Macau, all would be independent by 1946 and we never had this Inner Mongolia nor Outer Mongolia issue... Stalin destroyed Eastern Europe, but his destruction here is far far bigger and much more heinous and worst part, he killed all the leaders and army of Manchuria, East Turkistan, Mongolia and then disarmed then totally and gave them free on a golden plate to the fascist China so that fascist China can have his back if the USA and west attacks him... This is just totally unbelievable... Yes, in return, fascist China fought the war with the USA in korea in the 1950s and fought the USA again in Vietnam in the 1960s as Stalin didn’t want to fight with the USA directly... but this sacrifice is the most heinous one and fascist China pretty much genocided most of Manchus, mongols, Tibetans, uyghurs and many other ethnic minorities and possibly genocided more than 300m of them over the years... Overall, when the Cold War curtain fall in 1946, Stalin put at least 6 countries and 80% of the fascist china’s current landmass(not including Hong Kong and Macau) on a golden plate and gave it for free to the fascist China so that fascist China will have soviet union’s back when attacked by the west. Thus fascist China illegally occupied those countries without firing a shot. Specifically: 1. Stalin moved the entire Soviet army that sent to defeat the Hitler to the Siberia in August, 1945 and on August, 9th, 1945, two days before Japan officially surrendered, Soviet Union invaded the Manchuria with 1.6m army men against 1.1m Manchu and Japanese soldiers there. The war done within 3 weeks and they occupied Manchuria till the end of 1946, but as soon as the Cold War started in 1946, Stalin gave Manchuria to the fascist China so that they will be on Soviet Union side if there is a war breaks out with the west. 2. They gave Inner Mongolia to the fascist China on the same hope. 3. In 1946, East Turkistan had its army and almost close to liberate the entire East Turkistan from the remnants of the Manchu empire, Stalin immediately put pressure on East Turkistan not to advance instead negotiate with the remnants of the Manchuria. He, then 1949, using 3000 Soviet Union’s tupaliev planes, airlifted roughly 500,000 fascist China’s army to the East Turkistan and murdered all East Turkistan leaders and let fascist China to illegally occupy East Turkistan. 4. Britain and India would have defended Tibet in 1955, but Soviet Union threw their weight behind the fascist china threatening the west that if they suppprt Tibet, they will attack the west. just like that Soviet Union gave Tibet to the fascist China on a golden plate. 5. Cantonia, part of Thailand, Burma, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, were illegally occupied by the fascist China during the Cold War with the support of Stalin. I hope this Trump and other future American Presidents will undo those illegal occupation of Manchuria, Mongolia, East Turkistan, Tibet , Hong Kong, Macau, Cantonia and make them fully independent countries and destroy this cancer on the entire humanity, the evil fascist China once for all!!
Technically speaking, Qing dynasty is not chinese until it sinicized itself eventually. Qing is basically dynasty made by Manchu people but over time they are so assimillated to chinese culture and that's the only reason they can be called as China.
It's used to be one, the separated. Inner means the part that inside China.
Germania Inferior/Superior more likely refers to elevation and downstream/upstream.
Fun fact:
At first, their written language were more like Mongolian traditional written system.

No in inner Mongolia, top families must be descentends of Khasar, Chinggis's brother. Only Chinggis's direct descentends are golden family. Therefore no. They are in Mongolia.

石燕飞 Our languege is Mongol in orgin and practice
You forgot about the Bogd Khanate that existed between the Qing Dynasty and the Mongolian people's republic.
The names "Inner Mongolia" and "Outer Mongolia" were created by the Qing Dynasty, whose capital city was Shenyang and later Beijing. Inner Mongolia is the "Inner" one because it's closer to the two capital cities.
Well Shenyang is a Chinese name, the original name is Mukden.
Good explanation 👍
There is a place near me called "Hope Cove". It is comprised of two other places "Inner Hope" and "Outer Hope". Inner Hope actually surrounds Outer Hope. So it could be some sort of weird English naming thing or even a Celtic thing.
It’s like Ireland (independent country) vs Northern Ireland (part of UK).
Mongolia has a weird naming convention seriously look it up there are no family names
mzk timekiller this is something I did stumble across while writing this video. As I said in the pinned comment I think more Mongolia related videos will happen on day!
Thailand's naming convention is also quite interesting cuz each and every unrelated Thai family has a unique last name and that is required by law!
And that's by law, not coincidence.
eeerrrr.... my mother is mongolian and she had a maiden name... so_
Interesting... I'm not sure how you'd go about enforcing such a law... But it might be just possible
inner Mongolian write Mongolian, but outer Mongolian write Russian characters。thats why they are called outer Mongolia, they forgot Mongolian history。

Inner Mongolia's script looks awesome!
Dee Ca. Cyrillic too.
Many other places in east Asia has such names, such as Xin Jiang (New Frontier, and in ancient times Xiyu=western territories), Tibet (Western “Weald/collect-/stack up of(mountains?)), Vietnam (further south), Korea (but only Choson, fresh dawn), and ofc japan
How the nation of Mongolia as an independent country didn’t include Inner Mongolia I think had to do with either Sun Yat Sen or Yuan Shikai ceding only the Outer Mongolia region to Russia, but I haven’t looked this up.
There are approximately 5.8 million Mongolian (ethnic) in China, and (outer) Mongolia have just 3.1 million entire population.
Also, the Mongolia nation abandons the traditional vertical Mongolian script.
So, the Inner Mongolia province in China is more likely the orthodox; and the Mongolia Nation actually should use the name "Outer Mongolia".
no, we're fine with Mongolia. Also we were forced to change our alphabet, but never abandoned as it is still taught in schools.

2023:
Xinjiang has 55 ethnic groups. Han and Uyghur people have the largest population.
> The Han people are 109,20098, accounting for 42.24 %;
> The Uyghur people are 116,24257, accounting for 44.96%;
(Including some of the Han and Uyghur people mixed)
> The other ethnic minorities are 330,7990, accounting for 12.8 %.
Most of the Inner Mongolia people are Han people.
> The Han people are 1893,5537, accounting for 78.74 %;
> The Mongolian people are 424,7815, accounting for 17.66%;
(Including the mixed race of the Han and the Mongolian , There are more mixed culture of Han and Mongolia)
> Other ethnic minorities are 86,5803, accounting for 3.60%.

The word Inner/Outer comes from a Qing classification of:
•"Inner-governed Mongolia" consist of Chahar, Hohhot Tumd, Uliastai, Tuva, Kobd, Alxaa/Ejin, Barag, Qinghai-Tibetan Mongols and Xinjiang Mongols etc.

"Inner" in relation to China perhaps?
Mongolia was used as a buffer state between China/USSR. Mao did not want to wage war to USSR to claim it back. CCP was weak back then and they viewed Mongolia as not much useful in terms of economics. Today's Mongolia economy is solely dependent on China. I think the Mongolia gov't will collapse soon which might see the country join China or Russia.

Khamag mongol is the name of Temujin (later known as genghis khan or Chinggis Khan) tribe, the one who united the nomadic once gokturk tribes of the steppe like the tartars, merits, and khuviars, khamag mongol also means whole mongol
As Confucius said few thousand years ago:
诸侯用夷礼则夷之,夷而进于中国则中国之
Basically , it means non-Chinese will become Chinese if they follow the Chinese cultural; also Chinese will become non-Chinese if they don't follow the culture.

Chinese use the term inner and outer, in Mongolian, south of Gobi dessert is South Mongolia, and north of Gobi dessert is North Mongolia.
Ok, i am from Mongolia. Inner and outer name comes from Chinese Prospective! For China, Inner Mongolia is “nearer”. One thing! We hate this inner outer thing. Mongolia is Mongolia and the Supersedes all Mongol Empires
gantulga ganhuyag I am from innet mongolia. rubbish mongolia
Outer Mongolia‘s GDP not even higher a Chinese milk company😂
Specifically:
Wow, that is loads of bullsh*t
China is fascist? Based af.
Take a shot every time he says “Mongolia”
Technically speaking, Qing dynasty is not chinese until it sinicized itself eventually. Qing is basically dynasty made by Manchu people but over time they are so assimillated to chinese culture and that's the only reason they can be called as China. For the sake specificity, Mongols were ally in the administration of Qing dynasty. That's why Mongols fought many wars for Qing as a part of agreement of ally.
PS: If you want to explain something, at least take the fact correctly please. There's tons of nuances but you ignored all of them by just believing plain Chinese perspective.
stupid , before Qing ,Manchus were administered by Ming government and we call them “建州女真” , Aisin Gioro爱新觉罗 family was the official of Ming dynasty , and Nurhachi (努尔哈赤)正二品 龙虎将军 conferred by the Ming imperial court .
