    Great video. As a suggestion, you could have also mentioned 4LO as well as locking the transfer case to get locked 50/50 distribution of power to front and rear differentials. The locked transfer case function does amazing magic on slippery and loose (e.g. sand/gravel) surfaces.

    Thanks for the video!!!! One thought...you refer to the computer traction aids as nannies. I agree but without the nannies the Tundra is an open diff front and rear. Very limiting off road. Therefore we are reliant on the nannies (electronic limited slip) to make this truck a capable off road vehicle. My question and my understanding is...
    First mode LSD ON the computer brakes spinning tire to send power to opposite tire with traction and also controls/limits throttle input.
    The second mode LSD ON TRAC OFF is braking aid for LS but turns off computer throttle control. Which is tricky because you don’t want to over heat the brakes.
    Third mode all off. Open diff no computer throttle control.
    Is this your understanding/experience????

Feathering the throttle I was able to recover and didnt hit anything.

    I found out about this when I would go to make a right hand turn into traffic and my truck fall on its face then after about 2 secs of “wtf” it would come back to life. I realized the power was being retarded and wasn’t the traction control just kicking on and killing power. The Vehicle Stabilty Control VSC was being activated. I learned how this feature and now it’s common practice to turn this off when I plan to drive in places it’s needed. Plus it’s way more fun off-road and I can go full send Baja style!

    Woow! Thanks for the video. It was digging a whole in my head for months. When my toyota prado was stuck, I put it on 4Lo and traction control was automatically off, but then when I kicked the throttle pedal to the bottom, rpm didn't go over 2,000 rpm and car was still stuck. It was really strange. It happened twice. No idea what was happening. I was thinking it was most likely due to an underpowered/small engine problem and was thinking about changing my vehicle, for months. Now I have to go out and check it, but I am in a Covid lock-down, haha. I have to wait for 2 weeks. Thanks for this!!! really don't understand why Toyota doesn't produce this kind of videos.

    • @AngerManagementOverland
      @AngerManagementOverland 4 года назад +1

      Pretty sure AUTO LSD is the old “ATRAC”. My old FJ had an ATRAC switch to activate this control. On the Tundra i think its the AUTO LSD.
      I got my tundra off camber with one wheel from each axle suspended. It wouldn’t move in 4H. I activated AUTOLSD and it worked through like old ATRAC. See my post above. It explains my thoughts on both AUTOLSD functions.
      By the way after reading the manual for the 10th time I think I am mis-remembering this event. I need to test again to confirn. Ugh

      Interesting, i thought ATRAC was on with all nannies on, without activating auto-lsd. Here in MN when the ground freezes, my sloped incline driveway gets patches of ice. In 2wd, i tried testing the system going over the ice under one wheel slowly. I can feel ATRAC working applying brake to the spinning wheel, i dint make it but almost did if kept at it. I should try same senario again with auto-lsd.
