I watched Northern Exposure when it was on in the 90's and loved it. I now have the whole set on DVD. Names for the goats, Flora, Fauna, Merryweather and Prince Phillip.

Yes!
Love this!!!!
Girl! Talking about hard feelings is not you being a Debbie downer. It's ok to feel sad or down or whatever you are feeling. Sending you so much love
Thank you ❤
I LOLed about you asking your hubby's opinion and promptly doing the opposite! 😂 When I ask mine stuff like that, he says, "it's a trap! I'm not answering that." 😂 He knows good and well I'm on a do what I wanna do, but I do sometimes actually want his input.
Exactly!!
Clothing industry patternmaker here - with your large bust, you need bust darts. Judging from how the bodice hikes on your romper, you need about 1-1/2" to 2" darts. Adding darts isn't hard. I will gladly show you how if you can't find instructions on RUclips. Try it; I think you will like the fit so much better.
I agree!
I love how you feel about dressing. I wish I didn’t depend on the opinion of others so much. I love the ranunculus sweater. I made a three quarter length sleeve one. I love it. It is easy to cook and do other things without worrying about dirtying the sleeves. You really do a fantastic job putting your podcast together. One of the best knitting productions I’ve watched. Fruity knitting is good, but I like the length of yours. Also, while I’m writing a book to you 😂 are you fabulous at everything you do? Bee keeping, piano, sewing, , knitting, etc. What a gal!
Awww you’re so sweet! I wish I was good at anything haha. I’m decent at a lot but not great at anything 😂 that’s ok tho
Northern exposure is awesome. What a cast of misfits that somehow all fit together. Love your podcast!
I was literally finishing my first Ranunuculus while watching you today. I am using Santolina from Purl Soho in a lovely lavender color. I will be making a 2nd one for winter soon. Also, my daughter, who lives in New Zealand, got to work on a goat dairy farm for a couple years. I have so many goat videos she sent me of them doing all sorts of silly things. She also has mental health issues and the goats were so much fun, she couldn't be sad around them.
Goats are crazy haha
We all get into a funk now and then so don’t be hard on yourself. You’ve suffered a great loss and have dealt with family health concerns. I love my Audible subscription too! I just downloaded Steven King’s short stories You Like It Darker. I haven’t listened to them yet but am looking forward to hearing them. Stay well ❤️🧶
Thank you ❤
Northern Exposures is wonderful! It's full of quirky characters and dry humor. I hope you'll love it!
It's so good!
I loved your knitting in public day video! I missed it by a day, but on my 50th anniversary I knitted at the south rim of the Grand Canyon! Such fun!
Oh wow! What a great spot to knit
Billy, Lilly, Milly, & Nilly
I ❤ your podcast!!! I am amazed at all the projects you work on!! I have Rosacea too & absolutely hate the humidity here in Iowa!!
Love these names!!!
Northern Exposure is my all time favorite show! Great music, great characters, great stories. Very quirky.
Couldn't agree more!
When I was pregnant with my second daughter, my eldest daughter loved a board book about two little goat kids named Poppy and Patch, which is where I got the inspiration for my second daughter’s name. I haven’t told her she’s named after a goat 😆. Good luck with them! Your podcast is a bright spot in my week ❤
Thanks for sharing!! Love those names
Knitting on a tractor. Now that is a first. I love it. You make me laugh! I totally understand about the humidity. I was born and raised in southern Louisiana. I move to Arizona for 27 years where I hated the heat, but loved the absence of humidity and bugs. Well last year I moved back to Louisiana and I am just miserable. Yes I do sit in the air conditioning with a fan on to work on my projects. You could name them after Charlies Angels. Charlie or Bosley, Sabrina, Jill, and Kelly. We once had triplet goats that we named Sandy, Randy, and Brandy.
Oooo love those names
I knitting my first ever socks and learning to spin too. The Ranunculus is on my list once I develop more skill. This is my favorite Podcast, thank you!
Oh my goodness thank you so much! I’m excited for you!
Praying your days are brighter, Kaci❤
Thanks for your wonderful podcasts. You are beautiful and your wonderful bohemian vibe reminds me of my oldest daughter. I think her style is similar to yours and I love it! Also, thanks for your honesty in sharing how sometimes you feel a bit depressed. Being a young mom who is also in the spotlight a bit with your podcast can be overwhelming I’m sure. But know that you bring so much joy to all of us out here watching. Take care and thanks again!
Thank you so much for the kind words!!!
Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Branwell! Those are my name suggestions for your goats. Love your podcast❤
Love that!
Yes to northern exposure. My son and I enjoyed it in the day. Bonus: a young John Corbett.
I think I’ve talked myself into watching it again.
Love that!
I’ve been down also. Thanks for sharing. You are better than I am. I can’t talk about it without tearing up. .
Aww I’m so sorry I hope you have someone you can talk to
Goats….Billie Jo, Bobbie Jo, Betty Jo and Uncle Joe. I’ve had a pretty tough 2024 too and I know exactly what you mean… the usual podcasts and books aren’t doing it, knitting isn’t doing it doing it but I love Northern Exposure! I watched the series a couple times and I think it’s time to watch it again. Thanks so much for the reminder! I hope your year gets better. It’s been a very tough one for you, it will take time. ❤
Northern Exposure is probably one the best series ever. Holds up so well after 30 yrs. So glad Prime is able to run it
Yes!
Absolutely LOVED Northern Exposure! I watched it in the 90's when I was younger, together with my parents actually and I have great memories about that show. Even rewatched it 10-15y later or so, and still loved it!
I’m enjoying it!
Mannie, Nannie, Fannie, and Annie. I love your podcasts. Life situations can take a toll on us- that's why it's important to allow yourself time to heal, take one day at a time and find joy in the simple things. Peace and blessings.
Thank you ❤
Good morning! How exciting to add goats to your menagerie! They are so sweet. Here are some yarn/fiber related name suggestions: Hank (for your billy goat) Flora, Wispy, Vella, and Lacey Have fun and keep your episodes coming- love them!!!! Carrie from Northern San Francisco Bay Area😘❤🐕🐑🐐☕🧵🪡🧶
Great idea!!
YES to Northern Exposure!!! It's not something I would have thought I'd love, but my sister got me into it when we were teenagers and it's such a special show. I should watch it again!
And thank you for introducing me to that Staffan Carlen song, it's so beautiful 😍
Great projects, as per usual, thank you for sharing.
Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved watching Northern Exposure!! I should watch that series again….😊❤ I love goats….and baby goats are the cutest!!!! If I come up with some names, I’ll post them here!! How fun!
Thanks!
The periwinkle blue is special ❤
And the stichmarker Queen of WIPS had me ROTFL
😂😂😂
I think one of your goats needs to be named Ranunculus :) . Love your knitting and your stories. I like listening to audioboooks while I knit too!
Great idea!!!
I’m living vicariously through all of your summer knits 🌞
❤❤❤❤❤
LOVING the summer brights going on in this episode Kaci!!! Such happy colors and they all go so well together. Just something funny came to mind about the goat names: Grieg, Bach, Chopin, Mozart. The juxtaposition of these classical musicians with goofy goats just tickles me lol. I've seen goats used to help manage invasive buckthorn in Minnesota. Yay for goats! Sending love to you and yours ❤~Stephanie
This is a great idea Stephanie l! I love it haha
I love everything you do. Afraid of the bed thing. I dislike the humidity too
I'm so glad to see the bees in your video, here in Belgium I have almost none bees in my garden this year! It makes us anxious and sad. Thank you for the useful tips, much appreciated and very usefull!
That’s so sad 🐝
I had three babydoll southdown sheep named Hattie, Mattie and Fatty. You are welcome to use those. I had to rehome them when we moved but they were lovely.
Love these names!!!
Northern Exposure is a delightful series❤
It is cute !
I loved Northern Exposure. Watched it with my mom as a kid. I’ve been to Roslyn, the Central Washington town where it was filmed. It’s so cute. I stopped for lunch at the Brick, took a picture of the Roslyn’s Cafe sign from the show’s intro and wandered around the historic district for the afternoon. It was delightful.
I love that!!
Northern Exposure is such a great series! I would hold off on goat names until you’ve watched more Northern Exposure! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
I'll check it out!
Sorry to hear you’re having a hard time, grief and change can be exhausting. Thanks for sharing your ups and downs, take care.
Thank you ❤
Hey Kaci! Love all your tops in progress and so excited for you to get your goats! As far as names go, I always have to see the animals before I name them (with the exception of my dog who I named before we even found him!) although since you like Jane Eyre so much there are 3 Bronte sisters right? And the buck could be Bronte 😂
Love these names!!!
Really enjoyed this episode after a long day of work today. 🙂 Thank you. Goat Name Ideas: "Knitty" (Girl), "Purl" (Girl), "Stashy(Stash) (Girl) & "Gusset" (boy) 🙂
Thanks for the idea!
OMG I am a huge Northern Exposure fan from when it first came out and watching all the episodes again it was a fantastic series. Marylin is awesome❤️
It’s been very entertaining
I really enjoyed your video today and I was happy to hear you are getting goats and need name suggestions. My son has two female dwarf goats named Luna and Lucille. As for names for your goats how about knit terms or things you love to do…Purl, Bea (bee keeper), your favorite book character…Brontë, etc. They are always naming their ducks and chickens after their favorite sit coms or favorite musicians or songs. They have a lot of fun with it.
Love this!
Dobrý den. Na vaše video jsem narazila zcela náhodou a velice mě zaujalo. Překvapilo mě, co všechno umíte a k tomu máte ještě starost o svoji rodinu. Přeji vám, aby jste byla zdravá a aby vám tento životní elán ještě dlouho vydržel. Dávám vám palec nahoru a přidávám si odběr. Velice se budu těšit na vás a na vaše inspirující videa. Zdravím z Evropy /Czech repablic/. Na faccebucu Božena Maryšková.♥🌞🌞
I am sorry you’re having a hard time right now :(
So exciting that you’re getting goats though! I have always loved to do theme names for animals. The first thing that popped to mind for me when you said name suggesting was something knitting related ..stitch, jumper, purl, and bobble? Hahaha
Or maybe like country singers..Waylon, Dolly, Loretta and Patsy?
Oooh ooooh or maybe Jane Eyre characters?
Ok I’m done. Sorry for this comment 😂
Thank you so much!! Love all of them!
I watched Northern Exposure in High School, it was my fave! The chemistry between Fleischman and Maggie is the best!
Yes!
Kaci! Me too on so much of this video. I lost my FIL in November and the grief bubbles up randomly, sometimes at work, which is always interesting.. Sending love!!
And oh my gosh I am so excited for you that you are just starting northern exposure. It is my all-time favorite show. Definitely keep going. Marilyn is one of my favorite characters and you will love love love the poetry the music, the characters… it is just awesome! Keep going…. also I just purchased the citron yarn and I’m super excited to cast on another Ranunculus after watching. PS. That romper is my favorite thing you’ve ever sewn. Love it so much. The material and the pattern are great! 🎉 be well! ❤
Oh and I’m also into that citrus color right now. I think it’s a mood lifter….❤🍋
Thanks! I can’t wait to see yours!!!
My goats are named after women in songs. I have Fancy, Lucille, Jolene, Stormy, and Brandy. My wether is named Bubba after my favorite Alabama cowboy, Bubba Smith from " the Cowboy Way" tv show.
Ps... I loved you knitting on the tractor! It made me giggle! I have that same tractor. My hubby uses an 1987 Ford 60 HP. But I like mine better.
Love it!! 🥰
We have been rewatching Northern Exposure too! This was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid! it's super quirky, and the storylines are so comfy.
Yes!!!!
Yay for goats!! How fun, they’ll cheer you up. I’m sorry you’ve been feeling low, I hope you feel more yourself soon. I’ve always wanted to watch Northern Exposure but not sure how to here in the U.K. Loving all your knits and sewing projects, I’m so inspired.
Thank you so much!! I’m watching it on prime
My goat's name was Ginger. She was so sweet. Spice names could be nice. Could be Ginger, Cinnamon, and Cloves, and then Basil for the billy. Love the podcast. You've got me thinking about going back to sewing for myself.
Love that!
PS - I just rewatched northern exposure for the second time in my life. Once when it originally came out and again recently. Love it!!!
It’s so funny
Ooo you're tempting me with another Ranunculus sweater. You're entirely the reason I made the first one!
It’s a great pattern ❤
Great podcast, as always, Kaci. I love the variety of projects, the adjustments you talk about and the luscious yarns you show. Some years or months or weeks are just hard. Good for you for being kind to yourself and giving yourself the grace to do what you need to do. Goats will certainly make you smile (and maybe tear out a bit- lol). You will certainly have the best mown lawns. I am sure your kids (pun intended) will have lots of name suggestions for the goats. 💜
Thank you so much! They are asking to pick out the names haha
I love love love your Tate Romper! Great job, and the way you can style it with a linen shirt or a knit or on its own. It’s just the cutest and you look so comfortable. If I was meeting you for lunch with the girls I would be freaking out over it! 😂 So cute
Thanks so much!!
so inspiring... and I love the outdoor shots. Thank you for your videos and best regards from Germany ;) ah, and I love to see the goats 🐐🥰🤗
Thank you very much!
Your goats will be fun for the kids too! If the boy is not nutered, you will want a separate area to keep him during rutting season ~ preferably downwind from your house 🤣! All breeds of goats have different personalities. If you guys are not in 4H ~ join up ~ they are connected with University’s across the U.S. and will teach the kids & you medical & care. 4H is a great resource. We had angoras. They have wonderful sweet personalities.
Thanks for the tips!
Love your videos…..wish we had some of your heat gear, we are experiencing unseasonable weather in Yorkshire England! Names for your goats….well I think chickens and goats suit the old fashioned names so……Mabel, Gladys and Maud would pair with Reg or Reggie…enjoy xxxx
I wish I had some of your weather! ❤
I am SO grateful for your cast on info. I’ve made 4 but none had a neckline I saw on others. I’m a new knitter so wasn’t eager to just try stuff. Thanks!
You are so welcome!
We loved watching Northern Exposure back in the day!
It’s very entertaining ❤
I absolutely love Northern exposure. I watched it when it was first on TV. I live in the state where it was filmed and just love everything about it. It is so quirky!
Goats names : Edward, Jayne, Ms Temple, and Bertha!
I once again love, love, love your whips, your humor, and your smile!
It is so quirky and very entertaining
I love northern exposure!!!!!! It's my favorite show period and Marilyn is why I started knitting!! I bought all the seasons the last season is my least favorite but the show is amazing!! The Tate romper is totally a combo with the yellow too cute!!
I had pygmy male goats named Mary and Pippin and kisses and bob they were the best and my girls were cookie, sprinkles, mango, princess layah she was lamancha, moomoo, Nellie, Daisy, tippy and dizzy and Calypso those were some of ours I hope those help! I love your videos and your smile lights up the sky it literally makes me so happy!!
Awww I love those names!!!!
Northern Exposure was my favorite show back in the day! And I totally loved Marilyn and her constant knitting and stoicism ❤😊
It’s been a hilarious show to watch ❤
Violet, Daisy, Rosey and Bud for the goat names! I can't wait for you to introduce your new goats on the podcast. Also I want to say that lately your podcast has been giving me life and bringing me so much joy. You are so fun and I love that you share little behind the scenes of your daily life too. That peach dessert you made looked delicious and I loved the knitting on the tractor!
Thank you! ❤
Hi Kaci, I love all of the summer tops you are working on and the ranunculus and romper pairing is adorable. I am sorry to hear that you have been feeling depressed lately and I hope that your goats provide you with a huge boost of joy. As far as goat names…..I can’t narrow down any female names , but for the Billy goat the name that immediately popped into my mind was Oz (or Ozzie) since it starts with the same letters as Ozarks!
Oh that’s so cute!
So many great WIPs and plans! I can’t wait to see your gingham Tate Romper and your Cosy Posy Yarn Co Ranunculus all finished!!
Thank you ❤
Speaking of goats, I subscribe to this RUclips channel called sunflower farm creamery. Whenever I need to pick me up, they have the most adorable baby goats playing videos ever.:)
Awwwwww
My dad keeps telling me to watch Northern Exposure and I very much trust his taste! He loves all the things I love too, like the best Star Trek, etc :)
It’s been very entertaining
Thank you for replying! I'll definitely give it a go! :)
I love your rompers and the ranunculus sweater; that yellow is stunning.
Kaci you can’t be happy all the time; it is only because we are able to feel sadness, emptiness and grief that we can really know how happiness, fulfillment and love feel when they return to us. You have had an awful lot of sadness and worry in your life recently.
Thank you ❤
❤I love it! Thanks for your opinion, I think I’ll make the Tate Romper! Kaci you are the BEST! and so is that amazing husband! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Tate romper is so fun ❤
Goats!! I can't wait to see them, they will surely lift your spirits (and mine). Not good with names, but anything you choose will be great.
Can't wait!
That's hilarious! Knitting on the tractor. I don't think that would work for me. I'd probably drive over some crops or the flowerbed. Inloved the look on your face.
😂😂😂
Lola, Annabelle, Alice and for the boy, George. Thanks for the opportunity to think about goats!
So cute❤
I also love Jane Eyre. I will have to check out that Audible version. Thanks for the recommendation!
It’s a good one!
I love the Ranunculus and have made it in summer as well as winter bases - multiple times, loose fit and smaller fit. Ive omitted some of the lace on one of the versions too. I never understand folks who dont love this pattern. It fits me and my style too! Love your style and thanks for sharing the sewing adventures! You’ve got me to pull my sewing machine back out and ordered some fabric and patterns. See you next podcast!
Oh that’s exciting! I hope have you fun sewing ❤
Thanks for another fun podcast! I'm also knitting a summer ranunculus In a nice dusty blue Rowan creative linen. My first ranunculus had three quarter sleeves, this will be t-shirt length. Keep watching NE, I'm going to watch it again.
Sounds great! 😊
And she can drive a bulldozer!!! Love you and your podcast Kaci! The yellow ranunculus looks fantastic! For goat names, how about Nanny, Billy, Rosie and Dahlia?
Good ones!!!
I like old fashion names Mabel, hazel and Alice they were my 3 aunts and also gracie gr aunt. 😊 love your wips and the different plant based yarns its always nice when Podcasters share about different yarns especially when they are not in the local yarn store. 😊 hope you are feeling better you've had alot going on in your life this year. ❤
Oh thank you!
Goat names:
Ginny
Ginger
Gertrude
George
Northern Exposure is a MUST watch, you won't regret it⭐
I'm sewing the Tate romper next week, wish me luck🙌 I finished the Mock Neck tank a few weeks ago and it's fabulous. Thanks for sharing, LOVE your casting💫🌈🌷💗
Thanks for sharing!! 💕💕💕
My husband and I watched Northern Exposure all the time back when we were first married. It was a favorite show. Somewhere in this house we have an autographed script from the show. It is quirky and fun but also gives you a real sense of the culture of that place. I remember seeing the woman you referenced on a late night talk show back then and she actually brought a jar of home made Alaskan mulberry jam that her family had made and gave it to the host. I don’t know why I remember that. Also there’s this character I think named Ruth Ann? She is a no nonsense older lady on the show. She wore pigtails and denim overalls and a plaid shirt to the Emmy Awards! The show was so fun, and full of a bunch of characters who were interesting personalities in real life.
Yes! It’s so entertaining
Northern Exposure is one mighty fine quirky series. I watched it during its original run on TV. It's wonderful. Enjoy it all. There are some things you will never see again. Be on the lookout for the piano fling episode. First rate. Have a blast.
Haha it’s been very entertaining
Loved Northern Exposure! Eenie, Meenie, Miney and Mo for the goats.
Cute!!!
Another great video! 💛 I absolutely love the flow of your videos with the mix of chats and music interludes. So great to knit with. 🧶☺️
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Goat names !! Jane, Catherine, and Villette . Northern Exposure is fun . Perfect background show, it’s older so something’s have aged better but worth it for the Jon Corbit of it all. Main Street was filmed an hour west of Seattle and still looks pretty much the same including the bar .
It’s been so funny to watch. Very entertaining
I watch Northern exposure as a kid and I loved it. Can't remember the guy's name but the really tall dude in it has been in a lot of stuff since then loved him in that show. I definitely think you should keep watching.
I have been enjoying it
Thanks for the show idea!
I’ve never watched Northern Exposure so I’ll give it a try. My husband and I would love a new show to watch. I hate Jane Eyre though 😮. My sister and I forced ourselves to read it once. That was enough. Glad you have something you love that you can go back to again and again.
It’s a very morbid and gothic book. I do think it’s rather depressing so I can understand that!
Northern Exposure: regular Monday night viewing back in the day! You’ll love it!
Haha it is hilarious
The humidity is why I stayed in Arizona my second time coming here. I grew up between Little Rock and Memphis. I do not miss the humidity at all. I will take my dry 123* days over a 80* 100% humidity any day of the summer. However I could do without the 2 springs. My allergies go haywire twice a year
That humidity is killer!
Omg I grew up watching Northern Exposure lol my dad loves it, it’s fun but it’s also very much a product of its time. 😬😆
Haha yes it is! Also very hilarious
Thank you for playing - love it 😂
😅
We have the box set of Northern Exposure - this will be the best medicine to brighten your day when you feel down - just wait til you meet Chris In the Morning and see the things he flings!!❤
He is a hoot! lol it’s been keeping me laughing
I loved Northern Exposure. So fun❤
It’s very fun!
In the 90s my mom and i would go to my great grandmother's house every week to tune into northern exposure. Thanks for reviving a sweet old memory.
Aww I love that ❤
Kaci, I too have those periods of time where nothing seems right. It's so hard to change my swirling negative thoughts! This morning, however, I did a meditation of Reiki this morning and it did help! It's on Insight Timer. If you're interested, let me know and I'll see if I can gift it to you. Feel better soon. ❤❤❤
I love how your guy had the trust to give you his true opinion!! And how you also do what you feel best about! It’s all good girl!!
😂😂 thank you
Casey I love your podcast. All your creations both knitting and sewing are beautiful. Unfortunately knitting a vest is not really an option for me as I live in Northern Ireland and we are still waiting on summer arriving in the British and Irish Isle. Even when it does arrive we think we’ve an extremely hot day when it hits 20 degrees C😂.
I loved Northern Exposure in the 90s and now might rewatched it.
My grandparents had a goat when I was a child/teenager and she was amazing. They are such characters and will bring you and family so much fun and laughter. Can’t wait to see the pictures.
I wish I lived where you are! That’s my kind of weather
I caught the audible sale with 30 minutes to spare! My husband and I watched northern exposure religiously in the 90s!! Such a great show.
It’s so funny
Hi Kaci! Thanks so much for your beautiful videos, I really appreciate them, and I can’t believe how much you are able to knit and sew. It’s so funny you brought up Northern Exposure, I’ve just started watching it about a month ago and just finished the first season and I honestly love it so much. I haven’t seen past season one, but I would recommend you keep going with it! ❤
I’m loving it too!
Those blueberries looked yummy! 🫐 Love the color of your newest Ranunculus. 🧶 Yay for goats! 🐐 I vote naming the billy goat Rocky Balboa. 😂
Hahaha love it!
1st time watching, and I LOVE your podcast!!! Subscribed ❤
Goat names for the girls:
Heidi, Bethel, and Goldie.
Boy: Billie Bob 😂🐐🐐🐐🐐
If you go back to the beginning of ROOTS AND REFUGE ( on youtube ) they had a small herd of goats that all had great names. She also said that she wanted to name her next ones after Downton Abbey characters..... Lady Violet, Lady Mary, Carson , Bates, Daisy, etc. , you know who they are! For fun.
Great idea!
