During when Regan was president. My mom owned a Chinese restaurant. Also, I saw rice shaped in bowl designed, then turned onto the plate on a combination lunch special.@user-us7dq4ux7r
You can still get it for less than $10 lunch special in some suburbs but in high profile locations food tends to be more expensive

Aloha Danny! Usually they remove the bowl so you have a perfect dome of rice. The crunchy noodles is so old school. Only Chinese restaurants that cater to caucasians serve those. Reminds me of Vegas in the 70s. That Coronado cafe is pretty good!
Glad it tasted good for you Danny, for 20 bucks it better, still has that red dye #5 look to it.. South Point has some good food options, going to stay there next trip to Vegas I think...
I have not seen sweet and sour pork lightly breaded like that. Usually it's more of a tempura like batter. But that looks really good. A 9 is a really good score on that considering Coronado Cafe is not even a Chinese Restaurant. We always go there for the late night specials. Next time I might have to ask for the Chinese food menu. Thanks for the review.

DtM. Looks delish, nice and red. Never seen the bowl come out on the rice like that. Pretty clever, must be a chinese person in the kitchen or something. However, I think $20 bucks is too expensive for that, it's the South Point! Karla in Cali.
Sweet and Sour Pork looked good. Rice with plate offers you the option to use the plate to spoon some rice and some pork on it to eat off it, or use the bowl and eat Chinese style. Plus the plate on top of bowl, keeps the rice warm. That's nice a viewer was working there, stopped by to say Hello.

Next time in Vegas, I will surely visit South Point. It has a lot of restaurants, activities , and other things to do. South Point looks like a self contained city all by itself. And.............the food looks good too.

I've seen the upside down rice bowl in Canada for like the combo plates at small town Chinese food restaurants but the bowl doesn't come with. It's just the shape of the bowl of rice with your beef and broccoli or sweet and sour pork etc.
So we're the "other type of people!" Lol, Danny!!😂
The Chinese restaurant we went to when I was a kid always served their rice that way. I think it's the easy way to keep it hot and serve. Saucer on top of bowl would be difficult for service. 🤔
In a recent video you paid $20.00 for a bowl of bread. Now I see this great sweet & sour pork dish for the same amount. No comparison. When I worked in Toronto I use to frequent a couple restaurants in Chinatown ( their names escape me) and they would serve the rice in an upside down bowl. So I have experienced it. Hope you are enjoying the cruise.

I don't remember seeing white rice being served in an upside down bowl. But I have seen fried rice served, where the bowl was used as a mold

Never seen rice served like that before. 🍚 They always take away the top bowl before leaving the kitchen 😆 I would be happy as the top bowl would keep the rice warmer. Good to hear about the flavorful pork and its thin batter.
Many years ago in Canada, some smaller places would serve single rice bowls that same way. Not huge bowl like what you received.
20 bucks for that is absurd. South Point should be ashamed. They are getting greedy like the Strip. 10.95 max

I have seen rice served like that actually Danny, but it's almost always in videos on channels that either are based in China, Japan etc. or are travel/vlog channels that are food centric that are visiting China, Japan etc. I think I *might* have seen it once on a RUclips video from a place in Brooklyn that a very small channel did a review on but this was years and years ago now, probably 2011 or 2012.
I made it a point to stay at South Point and eat there!

Love the old school Chinese dishes like when we'd go to Chinese restaurants. There aren't any more in NJ. Just takeout. I need to go on vacation or a cruise for a true sit down Chinese restaurant. There are Japanese however.
The boarder of Mexico from south point is 1,406 miles away. I doubt you can see the mountians in Meico that far away.

I've tried that long time ago but now at that price, I'll go to some cheap Asian buffet. They usually have sweet and sour pork and other selections then bet on the horses at Southpoint.

You can't even see Mexico from my house, and I can drive there in less an a hour..
Its ti keep the rice hot. They pre plate to save time.

When I saw the tilde on the N in "Heñderson," Mexico... There is no such thing as too many crunchy noodles, especially when you're taking food to go. It's a Chinese proverb to live by.
I remember when you use to get a boatload of crunchy noodles with your meal. But because of people like DTM, you only get a little cup full now.😂

I've never seen rice served in an upside-down bowl. I think the restaurant wants you to decide if you want to eat in the bowl, turn it upside down, or on the plate whereby you lift the bowl.
