Hmmmmmm....... Okay, if you have lived in Vegas for more than 15 years this would come as no surprise, Michael Gaughan's places has always had excellent chinese food in his coffee shops. To clarify the story, when Boyd took over Coast, one of the first moves after Michael left to take over the South Point was to get rid of the Chinese food in the coffee shop at the Gold Coast and fire the chefs. The baccarat play dropped by 50% over night. Of course the big bosses said "Don't worry, the players will come back".
They didn't, Boyd tried to rehire the chefs, but surprisingly, they had all gone to the South Point. The Won Ton soup was to die for at the Gold Coast and it still is as the South Point.
Well, I had been to the Coronado three times prior to our Prime Rib video and no one ever gave me a Chinese menu or even mentioned it to me. Maybe I don't look like someone who would be interested, but it took me asking about the Chinese food I saw going to another table before someone filled me in. In addition, I've had several comments from viewers who mentioned that they had been to the Coronado many times and didn't realize there was a Chinese menu. So, I'm definitely not alone on the surprised feeling.
Thanks for the more detailed story about how events transpired to bring excellent Chinese Food to SouthPoint. Having been in the restaurant business for years I marvel at how clueless some of these large companies can be. Small changes can have huge impacts. Large changes can be devastating!

When I saw your review of this place, I was astounded. Now I absolutely adore Chinese food, but usually it's the food that comes from a 13.95 all you can eat buffet. (we live in New Hampshire and don't have those crazy buffets out here) The look and quality of those items that you purchased were unbelievable. I didn't realize that you could get Chinese food like that. Now you're definitely paying up, but as a once in a great while treat, I think that place would rock! My dad and I both watched your video tonight, and when it ended I looked over to him and said "that man spent some cash at that place" :p In all honesty though, I probably would only want 3 or 4 items, so it' wouldn't be too terribly bad. I'd definitely be getting that General chicken and pork AND the rolls & coconut chicken. Excellent review! Keep up the good work.

I eat regularly at The Coronado Cafe. If there is a "secret menu" that I'm not aware of, in addition to the Chinese menu which is included in the "regular" menu, I'm not aware of it, especially since all the dishes shown in this video -which is nicely photographed- are the ones I know from the Chinese menu which is part of the regular menu. - A better way to describe this might have been to note that many visitors are not aware that Coronado Cafe has a standard Chinese menu, as opposed to making viewers think that it's a closely guarded secret to be delivered to the table only when you tell the server that "Joe sent me" or words to that effect. I might also mention that the menu at the old Fiesta Henderson cafe, a property that has been demolished, was also well known for its Chinese food.

@@LetsEatVegas I didn't cross out those words, so I don't know why they came out looking that way. It has happened to me before, and it might have something to do with my putting the words between dash symbols, which perhaps RUclips interprets as being strike-out marks. Sorry about that, because you DID do a great job on your video quality.
Their Chinese menu hasn’t been that extensive. I was always excited just to be able to get won ton soup. We’ll have to give it a try. Love their service at Coronado Cafe.

I know, right?! There's another restaurant here, Amlee Chinese Cuisine, which makes it in a very similar way. Other than that, it's pretty bad here.

I went to an American breakfast spot ran by Chinese people one time in Seattle. They also serve Chinese food too. When i ordered the BBQ pork omelet, i was like, what the heck? Its BBQ Pork Egg Foo Young!

Oh my god !! Where do I start here ... Every dish looked absolutely amazing ! So this is a South Point and is it available every day or .. From Jersey Jersey orginally now in LA since 98 . Used to go to NY Chinatown almost every week! The Chinese food here is okay (I guess) which brings me to the egg foo young . Which I have never been able to find in La . But that looked like the real deal when I saw the gravy ... yummy. Cant find it here . I've had it in the past and no deal , nor good ... Anyhow thanx so much for this review!! Everything looked amazingly good as well as pricing..❤
Yes, the Chinese menu is available all day and yes the Coronado Cafe is within Southpoint! As for the Egg foo young, yes, it's wonderful and they way it used to be made. They gravy was fantastic. There's another place here, Amlee Chinese Cuisine, that also makes Egg foo young this style...and they also have Pressed Duck (which they call Crispy Duck)...it's terrific!

Hello we just dined at Coronado for the 50th time and ordered the sweet n sour pork. It was not crispy and in fact not very good. I asked the waitress 3 times if they served me the chicken. I had the video playing to show my wife. Nothing like your video. I’m confused.
We definitely had the pork and it was super crispy and delicious. I'm sorry to hear your didn't get the same. I suspect the chef was different. As a reviewer I can only comment on what was served to us and it was terrific.

What are you talking about. The Chinese menu is not a secret. Whenever we go to the Coronado cafe they always give us the regular dinner menu as well as the Chinese Menu. You must be the only person that does not know about this if you think this is a secret. The food is hit or miss. The last time I was there I ordered the Cashew Chicken and there were only a couple of cashews and virtually no chicken, just a lot of vegetables. I will never order that again.
