    Okay, I'm gonna throw hands. No Cha Cha Cha? Not even in the honorable mentions? The song got the second highest televote score ever in the history of the entire contest. People in the arena were ready to riot during the voting.

      The audience reaction was WILD - during performance and when the votes were counted. It really looked like there was gonna be a riot. We've never ever seen anything like it.
      Even the other contestants seemed to be rooting for him, and ONLY during his performance even the press room turned into like a fan room. They all stopped working and were all just singing along and jumping and cheering!
      He's genuinely a sweet guy, I think that was part of the success.
      ...Also the song wasn't a joke, it was a real banger. Humorous doesn't equal to joke.
      Loreen is obviously an incredible singer, but the song wasn't actually anything special. And she got extra points for being an eurovision legend.

    • @arturocas90
      @arturocas90 Месяц назад +11

      As much as I would have wanted "Cha Cha Cha" to win (I truly did), the actual winner from Sweden, Loreen's success cannot be matched just yet. Her original winning song in 2012 usually being the most streamed Eurovision winning song each year since it won (minus 2022 I believe) plus her 2023 winning song "Tattoo" being streamed much more than "Cha Cha Cha" makes it a fitting winner.

    • @sk70091
      @sk70091 Месяц назад +15

      We can't deny that Loreen has been more successful than Käärijä, if we're talking commercially. But the contest winner isn't determined by commercial success. Käärijä won the televote, by a LOT, and that makes him the winner in my books.

    • @arturocas90

      Yes, Käärijä was the most popular with the televote that year, but the initial comment is mentioning he was more successful than "the one that won" and even alludes with sarcasm if anyone remembers the winner, that's why I bring her commercial success to point out she is not just "the one that won"

    2022's Spain entry for "SloMo" by Chanel was a deserving winner but the situation with Russia invading Ukraine, was deemed that Teleovote was heavily influenced by this and got "sympathy" votes. Ukraine's "Stefania" was a good song, don't get me wrong but both 2nd (Sam Ryder's "Space Man") and 3rd Place (Chanel's "SloMo") would have been better songs and performances to take the winning spot.
    "SloMo" has transcended to be quite popular in Latinamerica, especially Mexico, where you can hear the song playing at clubs and has even been used in TV shows...additionally to be added to Nintendo's Just Dance for its magnificent choreography. Additionally, for the first time in 10 years, it took the top spot of the Most Streamed Eurovision song in 2022, dethroning 2012's winner "Euphoria" by Sweden's Loreen during her 10-year tenure.
    ...if that's not impact and a highly deserving winner I don't know what else would be.

    Unpopular opinion maybe, but Heroes totally deserved its win. The visuals were amazing, the song catchy, and Mans is a really charming performer, not to mention with a great voice. I'm glad he won.
    Too bad you didn't include Poland 1994 though. Apparently the only reason she lost was that she sang a part of the song in English by accident during rehearsals and some countries protested her participation in the main event. In the end, they let her perform, but those countries pointedly gave Poland 0 pts.

    10: Absolutely not - Arcade is one of the best winners ever (Kano deserved a nice second place tho
    09: Hell no . Finland is iconic (worst to never win lol - and no people don't think so)
    08: Good one, but Hallelujah struck a cord that night
    07: Agreed. Iconic song
    06: Agreed. robbed indeed, But Sweden was good as well
    05: Fuego is groundbreaking in a way that it's influence it's still seen in todats entries, but Netta won fairly (success says enough). It was a good battle tho
    04: Agreed! Such a great song
    03: Nope: winner would be Italy - Diodato
    02: yes yes and Yes - was shocked with the winning song that year
    01: Absolutely. Real winner
    12 points go to Kaarija tho 2023 - The real robbed song of Eurovision
    1975 - Germany was really great, but The Netherlands is iconic so no - Australia yes, Sweden no,
    2022 - Hold me closer, absolutely not. Spain was the winner that year, although Ukraine was really good as well
    2009 - Nope
    2016 - Australia was a great second place and would have been a great winner too. One of the best singers ever in Eurovision
    2022 - still Spain
