Im with you all. Blur was stinking amazing! No racer since has ever had me as on edge as blur did. Yes it was hectic and stressful but that’s what made it sooooo good.
Man I feel you there. This game was my childhood too. I remember playing hours upon hours with friends or by myself after school, at night or early morning. It’s just one of those games that made such a mark on our generation of gamers that today’s gamers won’t necessarily understand. They’ll have their own versions of that but we had the OG experience you know? BLUR was too good. Imagine if someone made a petition to get it back up and running and send it to the devs who knows maybe they’d make it again.
Activision made a huge mistake in dropping the company who made Blur. I would certainly put this on a level above most racing games as it expertly combined the elements of Mario Kart like power-ups with the standard racing of Need for Speed vehicles. This had so much potential to be massive.
@@Sekaniysplit second is still solid but makes sense why it’s only two players not because of frames but because some moves can be only used once. But Blur is so much fun with 4 players
Trust Me, everyone loved it from Reviewers and Consumers alike, it was a great racing game but unfortunately it didn't sell well and the rest is history
when i mention this game 97% of people dnt have a clue what im talking about. this game was way ahead of its time. literally one of the best driving games ever made. its really no debate imo lol. i remember my cousin randomly buying this when it came out and we were hooked
My favorite racing game. Played through it again a year ago and it was exactly as fun as i remembered it to be. One thing that bothered me when it launched was the marketing campaign for the game. Actually calling itself "a kart racer for grown ups, come play with the big boys". While kinda funny it really felt cheesy and i don't think many people saw the ad and were like "damn i need that". Still a great game tho, shame it didn"t get the sequel it deserved, same for split second.
Yeah they were trying to take a shot at Mario Kart like it was too childish. I bought it specifically cause I have 3 kids and we wanted 4player split screen. But it suffers from the same element of MK, skilled driving mean nothing compared to the right power ups
I miss Motorstorm, Split/Second, Blur, the early Dirt games, the pre-Paradise Burnouts, Full Auto, and NFS pre-2006 (the last great one being Most Wanted in 2005). Things really haven't been the same in the genre since the end of the PS3/360 era.
Man 2008-2015 games just hits different . Im still playing games like dirt 3 , forza horizon 2 , blur , dirt showdown , sonic all star racing and transformed version , cars 2 , f1 star race . I play it alone and sometimes with my friends , my sister or my dad . I have the xbox one in my room and xbox 360 in the living room . I mostly play 360 , i dont know why honestly its just giving me more joy than xbox one.
Man, my roommate and I LOVED this game. We would play this every day on our lunch breaks and late nights. So many great memories. Hope Microsoft brings this back!
I have it installed. Me and my friends play it on lan during gaming nights. This game is 100 times better than current NFS titles. The mechanics and gameplay is so smooth.
I remember putting many hours into blur because it was just straight up fun to play and after years of not playing since 2019 i wanted to play it again but the game isn’t backwards compatible on the xbox one or series x and my 360 died after 10 years of gaming it’s sad that blur didn’t became backwards compatible on the new xbox but i hope it does come to backwards compatibility or a remaster of the game
I just finished playing it and went on here to see if anyone else enjoyed it as much as I did. I wasn’t disappointed to find so many other memories in these comments. Hopefully Blur can be revived. The Blur me and my brother play freezes and our poor PS3 isn’t the best anymore. I would love to see it remastered with new cars on PS5 or Xbox Series X.
I had so much fun with this game. I wish everyday this game would come back. It’s exactly what it’s supposed to be, bonkers, chaotic and fun. It is the only game to actually keep me away from the gears franchise for a prolonged period of time
this is actually the most played game by me and my friend of all time, way more attracting than a smash bros or other genre.. I was desperately hoping for the release of the sequel, that sadly never happened...
I still Have The game for The PS3, IT was one of The best games in My childhood Edit: i just found My old PS3 today, i played Blur again after years and i still love it
Blur is and still is one of my favorite games in racing ever. I have my ps3 just for this game. It was racing and strategy at its finest. My friend and I still play it on split screen when we get together and hated that it didn’t become the franchise it deserved to be
I remember buying this on a whim at big lots for $5 a few months after released and was in love. The music was insane. The campaign was fun and I spent hours on multiplayer. I tried onrush and while the concept is somewhat similar it's not the same.
4:18 I disagree. If you knew what you were doing, it was very easy to win actually. And the chaos was what made the game beautiful. It wasn’t just driving and drifting
Man I miss this game haven't played it in years but when I watch gameplay of it I get so much nostalgia it was so much fun playing it with my cousin brother and sister had a blast
Never played it but I remember seeing it on Target and Best Buy. It had a great cover and I always wanted to buy it but I didn’t have PS3 nor Xbox 360. Hopefully they remasters it to the next gen!
My enjoyment from this game as a child was how high the skill ceiling was. All the items have its basic uses and functions but most people stopped there. There was a whole set of other ways to use the items like launching the mine item forward instead of backward, using the speed boost backwards shot out this wave that slowed anyone near you before before launching you and reverse shooting the shunt that was arguably more effective than shootin it forward. I must put at least 500 hours in the game just dunking players online, fun times
I love blur! Still have and play it when people come over for local multiplayer. It really coulda been a franchise had it kept going. Bout to play it rn.
Such an amazing game that was not released in a good moment. I will always regret that I didn't get it for Xbox 360 when it was released. Hopefully I could get it for PC and I really hope that this gets available digitally some day.
This is one of those games that I said looked stupid.... then I played it and had a blast. I said the same for Minecraft, and I never felt so wrong in my life, especially out of all the people that could have got me into it was my Dad. I liked the power up mechanics as most other "realistic" racing games that had the fancy cars I liked in real life. I have always also had a knack for crazy shenanigans and destruction, especially in racing games. My favorite Ps2 racing game was probably Crash 'n' Burn. I also really loved FlatOut 2. So this game felt great to me in that 1 aspect of destructive cars and craziness. The powerups made it more possible.
Blue was awesome. I played tf out of the online demo. I wanted it so bad, but I was in high school and did not have my own money to buy games. I really want this to come back though.
2010 was a Great Year for Racing Games I bought 3 of the Four N4S Hot Pursuit, Split Second, & Blur all of which are Awesome Games. But its Blur that got the lower end of the stick where Split Second & NFS Hot Pursuit I’m currently playing on my Series X. Blur however I cant find anywhere except eBay for outlandish prices since its OOP. Such a shame I loved this Game! Thanks for covering! Also not that Microsoft owns Activision we could see a Revival of Blur.
Me and my friends loved this game man. This game was so slept on. We would be up all time of hrs goin at it. The good ole days when games worked and mad us happy
Still play blur to this day. I love this game. It is my favorite racing game of all time. It was about skill and planning. You need to plan for if you get hit or how to stack up boost. It can be chaos and I love it
Blur knew exactly what it was. It was Mario Kart for Adults or at least that what many of us online called it back then and most of the people I recall playing it, were adults.
Blur is one and only mix between nfs&mario kart.People found out how great it is way to late because they got confused thinking it would've been bad.But ef Blur2 comes out im soure it will be a sucses.
I think blur is up there with the best game to have a bunch of friends over and play it's 2023 a whole 13 years after it came out and its still fun and looks decent it's a great game to have at a party rather than play by yourself
I came across this game at a Playstation cafe at 2010/11, then at internet cafes we played this game many times because the attack and defense skills are fun to use.
Love this game, especially 4 player split screen! Recently managed to get a pc disk copy. My gaming pc has nots drive so had to make an iso image at a friends. Then of course it kept giving error when running a copy of disk even though I had paid for it. Luckily managed to replace game exe with a handy drm unblocker & game runs perfectly without the disc! Now need to buy more controller. for game nights, it’s an adult version of mario kart :-)
Still playing every weekend with my three friends. They brought their laptop to my home, and I'm with a desktop PC. We played from morning till night around 7pm. It was so much fun.
I own Blue on PS3 and it's arguably one of the best racing games I've ever played in my life besides the Burnout and NFS games on PS2 and PS3. I've unlocked every car and class in Blur and I think Blur deserves more appreciation, support, love, and respect. While I did rage at the game at times honestly because the game has been frustrating me, I never gave up on beating the races and I still enjoyed playing it regardless. There should've been a Blur 2 in my opinion as well.
Blur is one of the most enjoyable racing games I ever played. I sincerely hope it gets a remaster/remake or a sequel one day. I still listen to the soundtracks from time to time. This game will never be forgotten.

I remember on 2011 playing this on PC, me and my siblings used to play Motor Mash but we used to do 2v2, one drives, the other shoots. Man, the memories
I sank so much hours into this game as a kid on Xbox 360, this was way before I was into cars I was like 11 or 12 playing this game now I'm 20 😭 and recently got the game again emulating it via Wine Windows emulation on MacOS I don't like Kart racers all that much because of balance, but adding traditional race handling instead of the Kart handling was a much preferred style for me this game almost hit the golden spot, I'm sure the sequel was gonna do that but car customization with Blur would've been the final cherry ontop
I first played Blur on my uncles Xbox back in like 2012. I didnt have my own copy til 2020, but it always holds a place in my heart as one of the best racing games of all time. I think a thing that could make a better competitor in today's market is to give a story behind what feels like a vast emptiness in the racing locations. Either reveal why only you and the other racers are the only seemingly living things around the courses or add in more assets like civilians and a few NPC vehicles to avoid. The OG game just felt empty and kinda sad unless you were playing with friends
I played the beta. I played when it came out and purchased it and I loved it everything about it the graphics how it look Need for Speed and the weapons it was like a futuristic feel. If I ever get a PS3 again I would take this game up top 5 💙💙 Miss playing online with Mics with this game 😔
I think blur was ahead of its time. If it was to come back today with crossplay with even the mobile market, the game could thrive
You're correct, this game had so much potential. I wish there was at least a Remaster or a simple port for current gen 😔
right? it makes me so sad this game never made it. because i thought it was such an insane idea back then

I played the beta. I played when it came out and purchased it and I loved it everything about it the graphics how it look Need for Speed and the weapons it was like a futuristic feel. If I ever get a PS3 again I would take this game up top 5 💙💙
Miss playing online with Mics with this game 😔
