Those first few words also can be rearranged to form a phrase reminding us of our greatest fear.
Rearranging “ We the people” can be rearranged to form a similar sounding phrase “ The wee people “. So similar in their pronunciation yet so polar opposite in intent.

We're doing a terrible job on all fronts and have been for at least 4 decades. We want our money back. Government works for the people...The people have been deprived of their most basic rights. Epidemic of homeless? Epidemic of domestic violence? Flourishing racism, sexism, homophobia? Poor. Very poor score.

Love this channel. Big fan. But you refer to democracy. America is not a democracy. Never have been. Never will be. We are a constitutional republic, as laid out in article 4, section 4, i believe.

You're overcomplicating the term "democracy." The US is a democracy as it is governed by the people, which is the only qualification needed for the term to apply. Technically speaking the US is a federal democratic republic, but is alternatively referred to as a constitutional republic. Both are correct, but refer to different aspects of the same institutional framework. The Founding Fathers invented modern democracy, establishing democratic principles, collectively referred to as "liberty," yet unseen, and while it is true they explicitly avoided using the term democracy in favour of "republic," due to valid concerns rooted in historical notions of populism and mob rule, it doesn't make the fruits of their labours any less certain. What was established in 1776 was and is a democracy, arguably the greatest seen by humanity. That it has, is, will and should be acknowledged in the linguistic framing the Founding Fathers and the subsequent formation of the Electoral College, does not modify its place as a democracy. In fact I'd even argue that the existence of the constitutional republic as imagined by the Founding Fathers, is the ideal form of democracy as the individual rights enshrined within the document allow for a clarity of government limits and offer protections for the citizenry, which cannot be readily dismantled. Constitutions that are legally binding and inviolate enhance a democratic system by offering a lodestone for the branches of government and the people themselves. This ensures a healthy democracy, where the people can exercise their rights without fear from persecution or unlawful transgressions. The two go hand in hand.

@@drlca6601 you tell me I'm over complicating it then proceed to over complicate it..... America is a constitutional republic, and i even gave you where to find it. It's literally spelled out. Democracy is majority rule. In a republic, the minority has their voice heard. It's only compliments if you're stupid.

The votes have peopled representation, thus, a republic.
