Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou My Vision is of Irish origin and is known by the tune name "Slane." It is not known just how old the melody is, but variations on the melody date back hundreds of years in both Ireland and Scotland. Slane is a town located in northeast Ireland in county Meath. The melody was named after that town at some point in its history and is well known across the British Isles. Though we didn't sing the actual lyrics on our recording, the original lyrics date back to at least the 10th century. Some people think that the lyrics date back to the 6th century. We think the melody has an earthy beauty about it. This is why we chose to film it in the mountains during the fall when the leaves would lend their color to the music.
