Welcome to IRON GRIP Restoration!
Oil lamp of 1940s was my second discovery, which I found in my grandfather's attic.
I don’t exactly know, who is the real manufacturer of this lamp, the only thing I found about lamp was it Lamp Factory (the exact name is unknown) production of 1940s.
The lamp had a lot of visual disadvantages: paint was peeled, a fair amount of rust, dirt, soot, and the lack of a glass bulb.
So I was very upset about glass flask lacking, but after looking for a week on the Internet, I was lucky enough to meet the person who sold me the missing element of the restored object.
When removing rust and paint covering, I used a so called "coral disc". It consists of nylon fibers with abrasive particles, which allows me to clean without the metal structure disturbing.
I start to paint the lamp, after cleaning and degreasing the metal . But a simple painting was too boring for me, so I considered to decorate it with various patterns and lines. It took a long time to find a stencil with such small patterns. The solution was to use separately cut pieces of paper napkin. The process was very specialised, so I excluded it from the video.
As a result, the lamp acquired a vintage look, and it looks like a lamp of the Tsarist times ...

especially at 7:55, it is obvious that he is giving this piece the love and protection it deserves after all these years.
also, when your power goes out for several days, you would be blessed to have a kerosene lamp like this in the evenings.

Nice pick on Gold on Black.Suprise that the Wick holder and Burner is not brass
Why didn't you polish the mirror🤔
But, great job.❤
Exactly! A mirrored finish would be a better light reflector.
Thanks for the comment. The reflector is aluminum, so I decided not to polish it. In the future I will practice soft metal polishing!
What is rust converter?
Where can I get a mount for the angle grinder. That one looks like rubber, maybe low vibration?
Probably nowhere. This is a plastic clip for the high voltage cable, but I use it to hold my electric tool in place.
@@irongriprestoration7344 Thank you for the answer.
Is rust converter white vinegar?
Did you make the clamp for your side grinder??? Super cool
Is it citric acid you use ?
Oh wow that doily trick was epic !
Very nice , 👌
looks like this video is shot in slow motion.
Это не реставрация... Ты её просто почистил и перекрасил. Она была изначально зелёного цвета, надо было в зелёный красить. И горелки у ламп обычно хромированные, если сделаны из стали.
☹️ Why didn’t you light it - demonstrate its function
Thank you for your comment. I will try to test it in a short video in the near future.

Black paint for a lamp isn't logical...
Meh.... an obvious rattle can paint job. No primer and only one coat of paint?!?! Walk up to it and scratch it with your fingernail..... BTW, I work for a paint company.
This is a refractory paint, the instructions for use say - "do not prime"!
Disappointing that you 1) didn't restore bumps and defects 2) didn't sand the body 3) didn't sand and polish the mirror part and 4) didn't use base coat before painting 🙁
👍
