Your comment makes me appreciate baseball even more now. It is complex sport that involves intelligence and skill that not many people can do. Few people can hit a baseball with a bat coming at the at 90 MPH. It also involves a great amount of strategy. soccer on the other hand is a simple and mindless sport that anyone with two feet can play. Being more popular doesn’t mean that it’s better.

Alek talked about how he grew up hitting with some of the white Sox greats, but seeing as alek hit a home run off the white Sox’s ace, (especially while they were losing a lot) the father doesn’t wanna celebrate the home run his son hit even though it’s off one of the best pitchers in the league. However seeing as its preseason so it doesn’t really matter, he gave his son the attention. If this was in a real mlb game I don’t think they would have had an interaction after the homer

Wholesome reaction would seem to include any outward expression of some sense of pride. Can someone explain how the opposite is somehow wholesome?

It's wholesome in this case because they are actively competing against each other in a TEAM game. The father must show his team that losing, even if family is on the other team, is not fun. His son got him to crack with an electric smile and loving bond though. ☺️
