@@DdotRay86 Jose Fernandez, who was a young rising star pitcher for the Miami Marlins baseball team, was killed in a boating accident. He was a team favorite and a fan favorite, even fans of other teams and a favorite of other players.
Dee Gordon (a left-handed batter) was the leadoff batter of their first game following Fernandez' death and stood in the right-handed battery's box, and I believe he was wearing Fernandez' batting helmet, to take the first pitch of the game. This was followed by Gordon hitting a home run, which was (and still is) a very emotional moment for him and his teammates, and baseball fans alike.

(disclaimer: I am a Jays fan just outside Toronto, and was watching the game live)
The Bautista home run needs to be watched in the context of the entire inning which was over an hour long and full of emotion from both sides.
Top of the inning had a throw by Jays catcher Martin to second go off the batter's bat, and allowed the go-ahead run to score. Umpire review held the call of no batter interference.
Three errors by the Rangers in the bottom half, should have ended the inning before Bautista even came to the plate.
Every other team sport has celebrations for great plays.
This was easily a top 10 moment in baseball history.
    It was bat flip worthy.

Props to bartolo on the dee Gordon homerun. He knew what was up. 85 mph fastball right down the cock. Respect

I think this is missing one of the greatest homeruns of all time. The walk off homerun to cap off the A’s iconic record breaking win streak

I was at that game when Chipper walked it off. It was his last one 💪🏻 landed about 50 ft from me. One of the best experiences of my life 💯💯💯

Jose’s death rocked sports news for weeks. No one could believe it. Someone guaranteed for MVPs and a Hall of Fame career cut far too short. RIP

For anyone to young to remember or know mike piazzas home run 9/21 2001 TEN days after the worst attack since Pearl Harbor he for that moment helped ease a country. Kids today don’t know the world before 9/11 everything changed that day and for mike one of the most beloved players to hit a homerun like that it was incredible
