I love that lens I used to do a lot of corporate videos when the Sony FS7 came out and that was it's kit lens It made sense with that camera because of the internal ND One time on set we swapped the lens onto the A7s1 (which is much smaller than the more current models) and it looked hilarious having a tiny camera body on a huge lens Then we put a tiny Zeiss Loxia onto the FS7
Great video! I am a huge fan of this setup and the 28-135mm lens is amazing. That said, that mist filter makes it looks like when you take a phone video, but forget to wipe off the oil & stuff from the lens before hitting record. Goes way further than just softening or diffusing the image a bit. Not sure that I'd personally wanna use one that strong, but if that's your vibe then cool. :)
this is going to sound weird, but i could watch no complies all day. takes me back to the good old days of watching Ray Barbee's bit in Public Domain, and just being so stoked over that trick and practicing it over and over. amazing footage also (as usual)
That's weird, after watching all these youtube reviews on lenses, I never heard of this particularly one. I put it on my wishlist. Seems to be a really good allrounder lens for our future Sony ecosystem. It would definitively suit our run and gun projects. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
love this lens i have two of them for my FS5 event kits it gives me that little bit of extra reach needed without having to centre scan in and fondly enough I tested my second one by filming some skaters.
You should take a look at the Laowa OOOM 25-100 T2.9 ! Even without the expander it covers 5k (1.2 crop) on my Zcam F6. It makes it a 30-120 T2.9, in PL Mount. With the expander it covers more than FF and becomes a 35-140 T4. Very nice and organic look.
I've got the FX30 and I got a deal for this brand new SELP28135G lens for around 1200 USD in my local Sony store but I am confused if I should take it or not. Help me out folks.
@@JustinPhillip Word as word. Depends what you're looking for. APS-C will do a great job in many situations. I know that for many people "full frame" is like the holy grail. However, it all depends on the design, the narrative, the skills. Another argument for the 18-110 PZ f4 OSS is the improved servo motor. The servo can be completely disengaged in manual mode. This situation does not cause "lag" in manual mode as in 28-135. In my opinion, you cannot disqualify APS-C matrices in this price range. Many projects were created on smaller sensors, a matter of idea.
You would need to TURN OFF the lens OPTICAL STEADY SHOT in order to record Gyro Data on the camera to stabilize it later in Catalyst Browse and in case you want something more frantic looking... ya know... artistic freedom. Thats why you should be able to turn off lens stabilization.
umm ….then what about sigma fp then? you raaaaaved about it as your run and gun. Edit: I looked further into sigma fp vs sony. There are other camera pros here on youtube that compared the two well than Justin and I am not in favor you tubers that sway back and forth. Sigma fp is only worth it if it was $500 price tag. If you really want it buy it second hand dirt cheap as much as possible to play with.

Hi thanks Justin
No sorry I am in the uk but travel to santa clarita often.
I love that lens
I used to do a lot of corporate videos when the Sony FS7 came out and that was it's kit lens

LOVE those skateboard clips in the evening. Youve captured my childhood perfectly man.

True i find the mist filter look terrible also. I dont get the logic of making your picture worse on purpose.

YES! Love this lens man i've used it for awhile myself! The Komodo works very well with the A7siii as well. Great camera to add to your kit!
Love your videos Justin! I am an aspiring videographer and content creator and I am hugely inspired by your videos!
please talk about the image quality difference in ALL I vs Long GOP vc ProRes vc ProRes RAW in the a7SIII
love this lens i have two of them for my FS5 event kits it gives me that little bit of extra reach needed without having to centre scan in and fondly enough I tested my second one by filming some skaters.
I use this lens on my FX9, great lens for documentary and run and gun.
wow! i hope i get to see your skate clips too. nice treflips tho.

This lens looks super useful. Looking it up now lol
Cool lens Justin👍😅 thanks for a detailed review
Congratulation to this great lens!

Take it! I use it on my FX30 all the time, plus its full frame so its future proof
Some skating ❤❤❤❤
Great deal is now FX30 and the same lens but for super 35 sensor - 18-110 f4 PZ G OSS
the words "great deal" should NEVER apply to a crop sensor

Now I'm looking for a Full Frame EF Mount alternative for my C70's.... Suggestions anyone?

That diffusion filter looks absolutely terrible. I was wondering what was wrong with your camera until you mentioned the filter.
💪💪
Different talking heads setup than usual
I really like this lens overall, but it doesn't have a character.

Sorry, but these images are awful. Cold, no aesthetics, this lens has a terrible sharpness in my opinion. But, if you are happy...
👌🏼
No matter what, 265 codec internal recording is a joke for a $3500 camera.
