Really solid video. Couldn’t agree more on going the SIGMA route. I’ve currently got four SIGMA lenses that I couldn’t live without. The 18-35mm f/1.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4 and the 30mm f/1.4. All of these are absolutely brilliant. Canon L series are my other ‘go-to’ lenses. I’d LOVE the SIGMA versions of them at some point, but I’m more than happy to use Canon glass. 24-105mm f/4 is my most used lens currently and then these two sleepers make the magic happen. I use the 80-200mm f/2.8 and the 135mm f/2. And these are NUTS!!! I can’t believe the quality I’m able to capture with these…Especially the 135mm. That is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites. Takes extra work getting it dialed in, but once you’ve locked your focus on you can sit back and just admire the compression. Really is magical. Now I don’t see a lot of folks shooting video on a 135mm f/2 wide open, but man….It genuinely is a treat to see. Content was on point. And I couldn’t agree more. Primes whenever possible, but it isn’t worth missing out on opportunities that a good zoom can easily handle. Keep up the good work!
Top informations Alex 👍🏻 I have two zoom lenses and 3 prime lenses 🎥 it depends on the situation which one to use but for documentaries I won’t miss my 28 -135 mm 😀
I got quite obsessive trying to read all about the lenses choices. I’m upgrading from a Sony mirrorless probably to FX9, and there’s always the question : should I go for something really expensive like Zeiss supreme prime, to go for sigma cine primes, or really zoom. But the zooms can be also super expensive like Fujinon that go for 40,000 for full frame
hey Alex, was looking around for a good starter mic to plug into the camera 3.5mm jack, what would you recommend.? Wireless of course, budged in the rage of 150-250 USD
That’s a really tough one man if I were you, I would save up and buy the road wireless lav mic set. I haven’t really tried anything in that price range except for shock and microphones and I’ll give you the same advice. I give to anyone that is save up your money and buy at least one good quality, lav, mic, or shotgun mic.
