Just saw Jon Anderson and the band geeks show a few weeks ago and they were truly incredible. They played so many songs from Fragile, Close to the edge and Yes album but didn't play this amazing classic...sounds great to me!!!
This song and many other yes pieces transform to a place where my body was a temple. 12 - 15yrs really was a golden Now in mid 60s It causes self reflection to see Steve. A magician.
Well, as a lifelong Yes fan, seems like Steve is slowing down a little bit unfortunately. After recently seeing Jon Anderson with the Band Geeks in Thousand Oaks, California, I'm sure Jon Davison is a nice guy, but he just sounds like a bad imitation of Jon Anderson. Actually that pretty much goes for this whole band compared to the Band Geeks show. You should definitely try to see that show if they're coming to your town.
This is a band imitating Yes, nothing more. The real Yes has been gone for a long time. Call this what it really is and I may be open to seeing it live. I will NEVER see this live under the Yes name.
Is Howe wagging his finger at a member of the audience? He has a habit of doing that if he suspects someone is not paying religious attention. Man this is so boring. Jon Anderson is the only one left who actually sounds like Yes. Band Geeks have well and truly sent this line up to the trash bin.
Jon's new album is so damn good! I could listen to 9-10 of the songs over and over. What the Geeks did with his ideas....amazing. Talk of them doing entire album live....im sure the musicians are capable. Awesome Musicians. I love Billy....his solo, World Trade, work with Chris, Trubute albums, And mostly He and TK's work with CIRCA:....This is horrible. So slow. Davison vocals, Downes missing so many notes... Guh!.
@gregoryschleitwiler9601 I never saw the appeal of Downes. He is surrounded by tons of gear, but his playing is poor. Maybe he has some pretty bad arthritis these days. The song lost all of its magic appeal here.
@smitlag I am a little harsh on Downs, however arthritis could be an issue. His contribution to DRAMA was less then adequate. After making my comment, contrition is not a genuine feeling I have for what I said.

Goddamn, this comments section is full of brutal criticisms of Mr. Howe. I believe his playing here is incredible, as always. Hands down one of the best and most original guitar players ever.
Well it is easy to mouth off sitting at a keyboard….sling on a guitar and play it yourself without flaws!Try!Put your fingers on the fretboard and prove to yourself that you do it better. Then come back here and commend Steve Howe for writing his music.
@@sheercerebralpower I don't need to be a guitarist of a particular skill to notice if someone is playing "off" compared to how they have played before. Howe's playing has become very fossilized and enervated, and it shows. Age and/or lack of inspiration or anything else aside, Howe has not made it easy on himself the last few decades, with Jon, Trevor and Rick all doing better work outside of Yes, and Howe's work becoming ever more myopic. I've always loved Howe's playing but found him in interviews to be stuffy, OCD and self-absorbed....that latter aspect seems to have become his entire personality as a player too. Blind fanboyism is for fanboys, and I'm not one of them.

Lol! Since when is Steve Howe Yes? He's not even a founding member. Two founding members are still alive. He's got as much right as anyone to go out on the road to play these songs, but where is his integrity. Even Steve Hacket calls his shows Genesis Revisited.
Its a shame "Yes" was always so fragmented over the years. I always had hopes for more true reunions, and that would've been WITH Howe. Look at the work before and after of when he joined. To me he made the difference that put them over the top. So no complaints from me if he ended with the name. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing Jon next week
Again with this “founding member” nonsense. What does it have to do with being a founding member when NONE of the classic Yes albums could exist as they are without his contributions? Jon AND Steve were the driving force behind the classic era of Yes, they wrote most of the songs together.
Really? Last time I checked the members of the band geeks have never played on any Yes album. Also I think the real masterpiece album True actually goes by the name “Mirror to the Sky”
Unfortunately you're right. I saw "Yes" 6 or 7 years ago and walked out at the intermission. At the time, Jon Anderson was playing with Rick Wakeman. We differentiated the two with the good Yes and the bad Yes. Band of Geeks Yes appears to be the way to go.
@@JRBird I've been a fan for over half a century. My first Yes concert was Nov 73 on the Tales tour. I've not seen them live since 2014. That wasn't great, but at least Chris and Alan were still with us then. I've kept up with releases and activity, but it's all more pale and lacklustre with each year.

Unfortunately they wouldn’t fill a phone booth under that name. The name YES sells tickets and apparently Howe now owns the name which surprises me seeing as he’s not an original member.
Who is this lineup? Any original member besides Howe? No Anderson, Wakeman, or Buford. Squire and White are gone..Anderson is playing with the Band Geeks. Rabin and even Downs are not original members, and Trevor Horn does not really even count, does he? Maybe Kaye is part of this?
Squire and White both picked their successors, and both have been playing with people in the Yes orbit for almost thirty years - Billy was even second guitarist in the 90s.

I'm sure that they know in first how far they’re from a decent rendition of the music they intend to play. Full of errors, lack of Yes spirit and energy, out of tempo. I understand it's all about money but you can get money doing things in good or bad way, and they’re definitely lower than bad…☹️

Steve has got to learn to stop admonishing the audience, wagging his finger like a schoolteacher, etc. Steve, you picked rock music as a career, not classical. So, you get a rock audience which, unfortunately, will often include boorish, drunken people. Calm down, and just play.

There's only one person who actually played on the recorded version of this and it shows. It lacks a lot, including energy.
These guys range in age from 53 to 77 yrs old. Give them some credit. They sound pretty good to me. Yes a tad slowed down but c'mon it's pretty good

I'm sure that they know in first how far they’re from a decent rendition of the music they intend to play. Full of errors, lack of Yes spirit and energy, out of tempo. Really, I don't understand the sense of this group of people that insists to carry on the Yes story with this very bad quality. I understand it's all about money but you can get money doing things in good or bad way, and they’re definitely lower than bad…☹️
Let Steven play as long as time allows. He's a living legend at 77. All time one of the greats.

Steve has got to learn to stop admonishing the audience, wagging his finger like a schoolteacher, etc. Steve, you picked rock music as a career, not classical. So, you get a rock audience which, unfortunately, will often include boorish, drunken people. Calm down, and just play.
