How to Ceiling Pop - Celeste In Depth Tech Tutorial

- Little video going in depth about all the details you need to know to perform manual ceiling pops in Celeste. I made this video since a lot of people in my streams often ask me about it so thought it might be nice to make a sort of tutorial video for it. If you enjoyed this and maybe wanna see more of this kinda thing let me know.
Shout out to bred for helping me with some of the exact data research I used for the graph and all the exact subpixel windows.

How to ceiling pop, two methods:
1: place your ceiling in the microwave, turn on the microwave, you should hear the ceiling start to pop soon, you'll know it's ready when you only hear a pop every couple seconds
2: pour carbonated water on your ceiling
And when you finally do it, you pop off
and for heaven's sake, DON'T use the ceiling button
Instructions unclear, carbonated floor stuck in microwave.
Thanks, I never actually knew everything that went into this! And I appreciate the music, makes me feel like I’m 9 years old again and learning how to drill into the ground lol
yo a geometry dash reference
no way the d side goldens guy
hi nathan
Epic
GL on 9DG are you going to stream it?
so what you're saying is that these are very consistent and fun and i should incorporate 12 of these in a row in my custom maps
…uh
4:10 Parrot casually doing 8 in a row
Thank you very much parrot, beautifyully explained tutorial.
this is not what you said in the video
@@belfee shhhhhhh

Fake comment
Lol
I would love more technical stuff pls
True! The delayed ultra thing at the end of the video got me pretty interested. Never could set them up or do them constantly.
@@nibblz2546 delayed ultras are very very precise, the reason that delayed ultra works is that when you dash down diagonally, and if you land on a floor after the dash ends, your speed will get a 1.2x boost when you land on the floor(.5 vertical subpixel which means you can't buffer the jump or you won't get the boost).
And as it turns out the boost is still given when you land on the floor even if you canceled your dash say through a corner boost(which is how most of the time delayed ultras are done as that's the only way that conserves your speed).
And as you should know by now all dashes in the direction of the speed that you have allows you to bring that speed into the dash and down diag dashes don't sharply decrease your speed after they end(yes so maybe you just haven't noticed this).
And you definitely know that cornerboosts don't go well with down diag dashes(who does those anyways without intentionally setting up for delayed ultras) as you have to go above the wall 4 frames starting from the first frame you hit the wall for a corner boost, which means you really don't have a lot of time to input that climbjump.
Combining all of that well you have how a delayed ultra works, as for easy set ups I also have no idea as I have only seen it in tas currently. other than mauve
@@suzhengchong2593 oh i didn't know that you cant buffer, it all makes sense now lmao. Thanks!
I have never played Celeste, watched a youtube video of Celeste, or Twitch stream of Celeste. Yet here, the all-powerful algorithm brings before me this video.
Neat! Thanks for the in-depth guide!
hope you enjoyed anyway !
@@ParrotDash I'm terrible at platformers but your video made me check out Celeste, so maybe I'll give it a shot! :O
@@skyc6797 just make sure to not take this video as an example for whats the game is about.
You can do this crazy stuff, but the main game is nowhere near to be this precise
YOOOOO! Would love to see more tutorials for some more un-used tech, such as spike jumps, or something (of course some more commonly used things such as corner boosts might be cool)
Me "how do I cpop"
Twitch parrot: just muscle memory imo
RUclips parrot: 5min 44s in depth video
We truly live in a society
I would love a mini series of tech tutorials
yeah, starting with the buffered wall jump thing (wall jump without activating a block)
@@grantwalker8053 thats literally only a buffered jump, its not a tech at all
@@smaster9758 i mean important knowledge relating to it is to make it not pixel/subpixel dependant you need to be moving up while buffering the jump
@@smaster9758 buffering hard for people not used to doing it catnod
@@zaj_mahal I never said it was easy for everyone, but you can’t make a full video on buffering an input
This just reinforces my desire to make a Getting Over It style map with randomly moving wind since high level Celeste has so much precision and randomness combined it's basically a masochists dream.
If you have the game on PC you can, its pretty easy to make maps!
nooo not the wind 😢
carlsagan42 made a very evil getting over it level in mario maker, with cycles of wind to throw you off. it’s already very difficult even without precision requirement
I think we don’t need that here in celeste, but maybe you want to unleash hell upon us, in which case just go ahead lol
not really randomness whatsoever at all but yeah
i mean we have summit downside now
using music from my favourite childhood game is an instant win and thanks for the explanation it was really clear and in depth while also not stretching the video at all
Thanks for this tutorial! The only other tutorials I was able to find only showed the specific setup for the skip in 4A and not a general method.
Excellent video! The subpixel and frame windows are very helpful. I've done cpop's before but never had a proper understanding of them.
One thing about the video, it was a little difficult to hear the grabbing audio cues due to the background music.
yeah someone else pointed that out aswell, kinda forgot to remove the music there would have maybe been good, will remember for next time
amazing job with the google spreadsheet, it's a great visual indicator for the alignment
Thanks parrot for making this video, it’s nice to know that there are resources everywhere for every piece of obscure celeste tech :3
Great tutorial! I finally understand how cpops work now, I would love to see more tutorial videos!
You're such a fantastic creator. Thanks for making this video. Very cool stuff, hope to see more!
This video is incredible i would love to see more tutorials like this
that was good and i'd love to see more high tech tutorials
This was great! I didn't know that this much went into it, and it opens up new timings so thats cool
Thank you parrot! Always wanted to know more tech details like this. Maybe this is a bit too obscure and useless, but I’d love to see a video on tech like
overlocking and stamina cancelling
I think thats a great idea actually, i didnt know what those were for a good while and was unable to find anything on them, will probably do a stamina tech tutorial video in the future!
Oh hey Alex jumpscare
lmao this comment was so long afo
Thanks a lot for the tutorial, this is something that was really missing on yt
This has watered my crops, fixed my switch, killed, revived, re-killed, and re-revived me with the amazing tutorial.
Great tutorial, thanks a lot parrot!
I would love to see more of those, since for more obscure tech its kinda hard to find a detailed explanation (let alone a video)
This tutorial will surely help me complete strawberry jam intermediate heartside
Yayyy! More tech stuff! Birb school #2, frame perfect boogaloo
Instructions unclear, popped my shoulder and now there's hole in my ceiling
4:50 yes, yes to all of it
Woah that was cool, it would be really cool if you could make a tutorial for multiple different types of tech in 1 video. Also ive never understood delayed ultras so that woulf be cool also
If you hold jump while setting up your cpop, you can avoid doing the fast regrab at the end, after the double grab sound you are 100% in the 3 frame area, slowfalling also helps with setting them up with micro regrabs
After watching your fulfilled emptyness playthrought i tryed and i would get it some times but i was holding right and not downright
make a video about every single tech in celeste :O
5 hour video incoming lets gooo
Tbh that sounds amazing
cat popping rn( good tutorial, i finally understand)
I think you can make guide for all Celeste G+ tricks. There are no such video on the RUclips.
Of course the subpixel diagram is done with a spreadsheet and NOT AN ACTUAL IMAGE 😭
Celeste players would never use spreadsheets
so. slide down the wall while pushing into it to align your horizontal. hold grab. tap at the very bottom for the correct amount of time to align your vertical for a 2 frame delay cpop. (too long makes it a 1 frame delay, too short makes it 3 frames.). pausebuffer a downright, then pausebuffer a jump
parrot whats a delayed ultra
I’ve always thought cpop sounds tasty - other than that augh no subpixel dependent dashless!!!
Cassosted fuper tutorial when? /j
Good guide
Absolutely killing it on YT
thanks for the tutorial! I need it lmao
Would it be easier to practice the 3 frame wait for the higher subpixel value instead of adjusting it and adding more variability?
Parrot, can you do a in-depth explanation of ultras/ultra related tech?
finally thx for elping me cornerpop
thx very much) I only after this tutorial can do a cpop
just did my first (and many more) cpops just cause i can't find the solution to a room lol
thanks for this really clean and concise tutorial, really means a lot!
THANK GOD love youuuu
i love cpop
very good video, i hate subpixels now
Good tutorial
I'd love to see an RCB video
Next, a tutorial on how to beat the tutorial of Celeste 🥺
but isnt that what the tutorial is for 🤔
You'd need to be a game journalist in order to beat the second wall in the tuto-wait wrong game.
this is so cool!!!!
Thank you
parrot what have you done
you made me like cpops so much i put like 7 of them in what was meant to be an advanced map

Esa pfp es lo mejor que he visto en mi vida JAJAJAJAJ
parrot whats a delayed ultra (actually) also wth is an instant delayed ultra
A delayed ultra is basically an ultra, but you down right into the top 3 pixels of a wall and jump in order to corner boost, so it delays the speed of the corner boost, but as soon as you land on the ground you get the speed from the corner boost and the ultra.
Instant delayed ultra is the same except for the fact that you start by down right dashing into a corner boost without any initial speed from an ultra.
But why can't u buffer the jump?
Dang you didn't use my amazing thumbnail
It was just simply too good im sorry
