I have to say, I don’t condone cheating. However when the remorse is genuine, and comes from a place of humility like in this situation, repairing and healing the union is a good desicion. You can tell he knows he almost lost his best friend forever. He’s a changed man. IMO

I was like 9 at the time and I knew what was going on. I knew that she wasn't happy with him. My mom dropped him as soon as she go the money to move us into our own house. They had 5 kids (plus me) together and my mother didn't use that as an excuse to stay with him. That gave her a reason to leave him. She wanted to show me that you don't have to stay just for the kids. I am 17 now & we talk about it all the time. My mother tells me that the first-time her cheated it was WRAP. It was his choice to throw our family out the window for some candy so she left him . We grew up happier than ever with just her. This is how I will be. Just like my mom. I will not take that kind of disrespect from no one. I have to forgive and move on BUT I WILL NOT allow myself to reconcile with a cheater.
1.You have understood nothing about men. you should first learn about our biological functioning. 2. You story is not the same with them . He maybe cheat because she was boring in bed,not sexy, annoying, controlling, have a medical issue, or even herself cheated in the past. There can be so many variables. If she had all that.... they both should have went to counseling and try to figure it out and see if can be moved forward, atleast tried but then again it's your stepdad so I would assume she got hurt in the past with your real dad. Cheating is not a mistake unless you have the mind of a 14 yr old. You are a conscience being who knows you are married. No one forced you to be married or to commit to mongamy, this is a free country, if you wanted a laid back marriage then you can ask for one if your partner is up for it. But when you sign up for a monogamous partnership willingly, cheating is not a mistake. Plus once you take someone back from cheating it will make you paranoid, she probably wonders what he’s doing, where he’s at. They may be back together but the trust & freedom is probably dead. Lack of trust can also get exhausting & probably will cause more cheating. You open a box of problems when you cheat.
