@@damienyoung751 That's not quite true. He had orders to secure an airfield, when he got there he realised the Russians had got there first, and so decided not to risk a confrontation by trying to achieve his objective. He was never ordered to attack the Russians.
@@radman8321 you are not quite right either , he was leading 30,000 troops to the airport but found the Russians had taken control of it , Wesley Clark ( future USA presidential candidate) head of NATO forces ordered Blunt to forcibly take the airport , he refused .
When I was in 7th grade I met a girl, and fell instantly in love. However, she was always with another guy, so had to love her from afar.
One night lying in bed, I vowed I would marry her someday. After 5 years when we were seniors in high school, she wasn't involved with anyone, and I mustered the courage to ask her out. She accepted, and 7 years later we got married.
You just never know how life will work out.

I have been down a James Blunt rabbit hole for about 2 weeks now and I cannot believe it took me so many years to discover his work! I only knew the "Your Beautiful" part of the chorus never realized how sad this song is. I love sad songs and boy James Blunt does not disappoint in that regard!
I was living in England when this song was released. I had never heard of him before. I saw a clip of the video one night on tv. I got out of bed, got dressed and headed into London to buy his cd! I loved every song on it and played it about ten times that night. I told everyone at work the next day about this cd and they all went out and bought it too.
You will probably love him more when you find out his real title is Captain James Blunt and he spent years in the British army as an officer. My borther is an ex soldier and pretty much all British soldiers love him
tremendous man..He was an Officer in the British Army in the war in Kosovo..He went back a number of years later and found some people who helped them..Then he gave a free concert for the people of that town and area

I was never really familiar with James Blunt's music until I came to your reaction channel. I'm more of an expert on music from the decades of the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's 1980's. By the 2000's, I had stopped following popular music when this song became a hit. I must say, from what I've heard from James Blunt so far, has been impressive. He has a terrific singing voice and sings with such emotion. I can definitely see why you both like him. He's obviously very talented.

In an interview he said on a show inEngland that it happened on The Tube, “ It’s about me stalking somebody else’s girlfriend on the underground while I’m high “ when he saw his ex-girlfriend with a new guy and he walked after them. He then jokingly followed up by saying “ but people play it at their weddings which is nice.” He’s a very funny self- deprecating guy with 2.1 million twitter followers. Have a read if you get a chance. 🇬🇧

Brilliant song from a very talented artiste.
Whenever I hear this, I'm instantly reminded of the place I worked when it was released. Right next to my ground floor (1st floor in Murica) office was our large workshop and warehouse and it had 4 guys working there with the lousiest voices you ever heard but they really used to put their heart and soul into singing along! The din was appalling! lol.

@@generationgapreacts Goodbye My Lover was recorded in Princess Leia's bathroom! James met Carrie Fisher through a mutual friend and stayed with her while working on his first album. Apparently the acoustics were so good in the bathroom he moved the piano in there to record the song.

I've seen him perform live several times now. considering many of his songs are a but gloomy (his words) his stage persona is brilliant and he really gets the crowd going. Has lots of little stories too and is a very funny guy.

@@generationgapreacts it was massive hit (as was his debut album Back To Bedlam) but it got so much air play that people started to hate it. James owns a pub in London and just before it closes they put this song on to get the customers to hurry up and leave! He has a great sense of humour.

James Blunt is an incredible artist. I have several of his CD's. I'll admit when you viewed "Monster" I teared up since my dad had just passed. Another artist similar to James Blunt in sound is Daniel Powter. You should check out "Bad Day" I haven't seen any other reaction channel check him out I think you enjoy listening to him too.

I was 15 years old when this song becomes my favorite that as I recollect my days wouldn't be complete without listening to this song, and the funny thing is that I didn't understand English at that time and still manage to kinda memorized the lyrics 😂 so really I was just completely impressed with his nice angelic voice....

He told viewers: “It’s about me stalking somebody else’s girlfriend on the underground while I’m high… but people play it at their weddings, which is nice”, which may not be the romantic song meaning you were hoping for.
Previously, he explained that the song is “kind of miserable. It was about seeing my ex-girlfriend on the underground in London with her new man, who I didn’t know existed.
“She and I caught eyes and lived a lifetime in that moment, but didn’t do anything about it and haven’t seen each other since.”
