I know a person that makes their entire living off of buying and reselling tickets in bulk. He and his wife live in a multi million dollar home in Brentwood, TN and made their entire fortune exploiting fans with ticketmasters help from them turning a blind eye supporting bots and scalpers. I haven't been to a Ticketmaster or Live Nation show in over a decade. It breaks my heart because there are so many shows i want to see before i die.
Make tickets non-transferrable. Best way to get rid of bots and resalers. That way, box office TicketMaster, and the artist themselves can sell tickets for the price they want - TM can sell at a markup for "convenience" or whatever, but people then have options that aren't TM, and the only people buying tickets are the people who actually want to go watch the show. I used to be able to go to 2-3 concerts a year, and now I can't go to any - just no way to justify $500 for 2 hours of entertainment.
I’ve recently bought tickets to a couple shows that were non-transferable. It’s a great idea until a show that I want to go to is sold out before I can buy my tickets. 😜
I saw Kid Rock 9 years ago when he was doing $20 tickets and $5 beers. When you bought the ticket you needed to present your credit card at the gate to enter. ALL tickets, front row or lawn, were $20. It seemed revolutionary at the time and it is the only concert I've been to where that seemed to work. Don't know what happened to cause them to only do that ONCE.
@@mattsnyderARTIST Right. He can take a pay cut. But he can't go negative. And that was 10 years ago. With current day inflation no way that model would work today. Especially with ticket master and politicians on both sides making it worse.
I wanted to attend the NCAA Frozen Four in Minneapolis. The second day of sales, all tickets were sold. Approximately 6,000 tickets were re-listed as “verified resale” on Ticketmaster. There’s no way that many people are buying and re-selling. Ticketmaster has to be doing this.
I don't think Ticketmaster themselves are doing it, but it has been confirmed through a secretly recorded video (not 100% sure on if it was a secret video or if they just straight out confirmed it) but Ticketmaster had some convention they held for their top scalpers and they let the scalpers and their bots get access to the ticket sales before anyone else so they can buy however many they want and then relist them. That's why even if you have a code to get access to the pre-sale and are one of the first in the queue to get in you'll see large amounts of seats in the best sections already sold out.
Ticketmaster still lives on because of buyer convenience and no competitors. The monopoly conversation has been going on for decades and every time an artist talks about it nothing happens 😂
We used to stay up all night in front of Ticketron stores to try and get the best seats at face value. On sale at 9am? We'd be there at 6pm, the night before.
Online sales should only be available 1 day after the physical tickets from the venue are available. It's pretty obvious they're scamming when they walk to the window and ask for 100 tickets.
