Senna crashed just before the tunnel in ‘88 and walked to his apartment which is/was very close on Av. Princesse Grace. The building is called Houston Palace.
Senna saying “And I suddenly realized that I was no longer driving the car consciously.” while going 2 seconds faster per lap than anyone else. That's pretty iconic.
Best memory is absolutely Daniel Ricciardo getting his redemption, after what happened in 2016, and what seemed was gonna happen again in 2018, him being able to hold on brought tears to my eyes.
What a time to be alive, f1 world champions vlogging for all us fans out there. Thanks so much Nico, you are a brilliant presenter. Absolutely love when you talk about different driving styles between drivers and how that affected your laptimes
As a Colombian, my best memory was Juan Pablo Montoya's win in 2003. My dad would wake me up every race day, early in the morning, while he was competing in the category, to watch his races and those are really some of the fondest memories of my childhood, spending time with my dad, having breakfast in front of the TV, watching the race and stressing the f out the entire race haha. I remember that day in 2003, I was 8 years old, my dad woke me up and told me that Montoya had qualified 3rd the day before so he could have a chance to get on the podium, we sat in front of the TV in the living room, he was having eggs and coffee and I was eating cereal, the race started, we were locked onto the screen the entire time and once Montoya got in first place we didn't utter a single word until the race was done, I remember looking at the floor almost every corner cause I thought that I'd jinx it so he'd crash and once he finally crossed the finish line in first place I remember running to wake my mom and my brother up so they could come and see how a fellow Colombian had just won the most prestigious race in all of motorsport. Awesome day.
That was a lovely read. Juan Pablo was always my favourite player in the F1 games when I was like 5/6 years old. Simply because I loved BMW’s and something about his name was just enjoyable to me as a kid😂
If Williams builded FW25 without aero problems in first few races and BMW did not blow up in Austria and Japan we would have something to celebrate ... but still great memories from 2003.
Schumi's last pole lap when he was 43 years old. He pulled a great lap, yet he couldn't start from the pole. However, he showed us how much pure talent he had at that age.
@@hectorhugocortesa.456 Hector, you don't need to apologize for your English. I've made "attempts" to learn German, Swedish, French, Spanish, Tagalog, Japanese, Mandarin, and a wee bit of Thai in the course of my travels in the last 60+ years. I've done better in some... not so much in others. Most people I've encountered were very appreciative and we had a pleasant visit, as short as it may have been. You're doing just fine! Thanks for the effort.
My best Monaco memory is my Dad taking me there for my first (and only) live GP ever in 2006. He saved up for months and surprised me with the tickets on my 18th birthday. And he didn't even watch F1, but he let me give him a giant primer on the tech, drivers, strategy etc. And he actually decided that he would root for Nico lol. We were both pretty bummed when he had to retire the car. That weekend will probably be one of the best of my life until I die. I only hope I can give my future kids such an amazing experience.
Ricciardo jumping into the Red Bull pool in 2018 after his victory, with all the problems he suffered during that race and the one two years before, really redemption day
Definitely! 😊 I was gonna say this same one... I think that was 2018, right? When he had one of the Ferraris on his tail ready to make a move if he made a mistake... Top drive from him!
for me that was the moment when F1 showed how Monaco isn't suited for f1 racing anymore I mean there are tracks where overtaking is notoriously difficult, like Hungaroring or Yas Marina, Sochi and so on. But on none of those tracks a car that had basically a gp2 engine could have any chance to win a race. And that just doesn't seem fair, it clearly shows how impossible it is to overtake at Monaco with current f1 cars, no matter how slow the car in front might be
I just found out that Nico uploads content to YB, I love the in-depth perspectives he can give on the circuits and of course, on everything that surrounds the top flight. It's amazing how after achieving what he has achieved and being the person he is he still keeps this humility, empathy and creativity so alive. An absolute legend.
Most memorable moment (especially as a French national) : 1996 - Out of the 20 drivers, only 3 finishes the race due to very poor conditions and lots of crashes / mechanical failures. Moreover, Olivier Panis wins the Monaco GP, before Gasly won Monza in 2020, it was the last French who won a Formula 1 Grand Prix.
My most special moment was me as a 6 year old in Monaco watching Kimi win. As a Fin, Kimi was my idol, and hearing the V10s roaring on the streets of Monaco made a lasting impression 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮
It’s absolutely incredible to hear how one of the greatest drivers ever measured himself against someone like Lewis down to the finest detail. It’s also fascinating how much thought they put into every single aspect of the lap, including even keeping the steering straight for longer on the exit of the nouvelle chicane
There is the entry lane to the monaco yacht club just there and he is standing beyond the entrance... Still, I did initially think he was going to hit him, but then I remembered there is the entrance 😂
The 2012 Merc wasn't even their finest car. Monaco really brings out the best of the driver because it's a very technical circuit. Aerodynamic downforce is only as good as the speed you get with the car. The driver's sense and guts (driving fast in a tight circuit with merciless corners if you make a mistake) really shows. Even without another title to take home, MSC really showed he still has some of it. Besides, to be a champion you really have to be in your zone thru the whole season. You can't blame him if he lost that consistency since his departure from F1 at the end of 2006. With age, past his prime, and lack of practice, I was in awe he even managed to clinch a pole position before ultimately retiring from the sport for the last time.
@@Jojo_Bee The fact that has been blowing my mind was how many time Michael changed his brakes balances(including one handed drive through Louis Chiron - incredidle mental capacity) to get a perfect braking setup nearly for each part of the track Neither Nico nor Lewis were doing the same thing there ever.
It’s funny he has to say Lewis to put in perspective of how fast he’s going. He cooped out after playing dirty like Schumacher and beating Hamilton for the championship.
@@williamphillips6455 That's about the dumbest thing I've ever read on RUclips. Who was playing dirty? Think about COTA during that season... Lewis has been parked in the best car for almost a decade...

Most memorable moment of Monaco GP for me, was Ayrton Senna's performance in 1984 with Toleman at his debut season. Polemical ending time of the race... Beautiful place!
The Moment when everyone, fans, team members and drivers paid respect to Niki after his death. Such a moving moment to see everyone remembering one of the most authentic and iconic persons in F1 history.
Being a 8 years kid and watch all work from Senna defensive drive against a faster Mansell in 1992. We were totally nervous watching that race. The fact that Brazil was a completely chaotic country to live at that time, it was a kind of relief for us have Senna as an idol. He gave us plenty reasons to smile, at least on sundays.
I like the perspective given by someone who experienced so many different results from racing on this track. It makes for a very insightful breakdown, and I also find his humbleness in recounting his successes as well as his misfortunes quite inspiring.
I got goosebumps when you talked about Senna's tunnel vision, I experienced it once in karting when I was younger and later on as a musician I had that same kind of feeling of just being there and flowing with the sound without thinking of the notes or the lyrics or the audience, really amazing feeling.
I would definitely say that the best moment was the "redemption day" for Daniel Ricciardo after such a disappointing pit stop. Also, the belly flop was good haha
Biggest moment in Monaco was Ricciardo’s celebration after 2018 win, it made me so happy to see that he won even with 25% loss of power and all that happened in 2016
To be fair, none of the actual actors went to Monaco, that was all recreated on a set. If I remember correctly they just had some lookalikes/scouts for the wide shots in the Rolls Royce and to record a few laps in a camera car to get the details right to recreate on the set.
Amazing!! It's a really pleasant experience to 'see' the inner pilot vision from your analysis, far more treating the most beautiful track in the F1 championship! Great job Nico in and outside the tracks!!

Senna on 1988 driving perfection, I was a kid but I remember that because was the moment that Monaco became my favorite track, today still one of my favorites!
For my memorable moment I'm going to suggest Schumacher bringing out the yellow flags during qualifying to stop Alonso's hot lap and attempt to keep pole. Controversy followed! I definitely can't think of any other occasions when yellows have been brought out during Monaco qualifying securing a pole ;D
@@pervonhagelbrakare8172 You have a point. I have heard so many people put Nico in their top 10 for that reason. But I dont think anyone will ever beat Lewis again
For me Monaco is like the Palio races in Sienna because of so much atmosphere in town and build up of so much energy towards the start of the race and then the release of that energy once the race has started.
It’s gotta be when Daniel lost power and managed to hold off the pack. That was incredible driving, I know it’s not easy to overtake in this track but man was that some good driving.
The moment of silence to honour Niki Lauda in 2019. I was present that weekend at the GP and honouring one of the greatest drivers of all time with so many fans at the most memorable track on the calendar made me feel humble to be there.
Most special moment's gotta be when Ivan Vanko walked on the track in the harbor section and attacked Tony Stark's car with his electric whips. Legendary
Best Monaco moment - Daniel Ricciardo's redemption win and the pure joy on his face while drinking his Shoei. Especially after what happened the year before with the botched pitstop that cost him the race that he had dominated up to that point.
I remember the first time I saw an F1 race in it's entirety was back in 2016 when poor Daniel didn't win the race. I was sad for him but I was also happy because Checo made it to third place. I'm hoping tomorrow Checo can get to the podium again.

Best memory when button took over from Alonso while he was doing the Indy car, the banter at the start of the race was brilliant
Romain Grosjean Official: How to master the Monaco GP
Rosberg: (sweating)
Senna on 1988 driving perfection, I was a kid but I remember that because was the moment that Monaco became my favorite track, today still one of my favorites!
My most special moment: seeing Riccardo win after him losing it in 2016
This was 2016
@@krassegurkegaming1446 good point

@@matthewcarey4752 all the spelling errors!
For my memorable moment I'm going to suggest Schumacher bringing out the yellow flags during qualifying to stop Alonso's hot lap and attempt to keep pole. Controversy followed! I definitely can't think of any other occasions when yellows have been brought out during Monaco qualifying securing a pole ;D
senna's 1988 pole lap which was seconds faster than p2 but no onboard which just adds to the myth of that magic lap
My most memorable moment of Monaco is Juan Manuel Fangio's victory in 1950 driving that quick Alfa Romeo. It was the first Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix
Crazy that Nico still talks so highly of Lewis. I guess no one quite has gone through the journey they did together.
I think time apart has helped to at least partially heal some of the wounds of 2015/16 for both of them.
@@anonimoosea.9423 I wouldnt be surprised that if Lewis retires after this year then he starts making RUclips videos too
@@kgeorgel12 Lewis ,& Yt I don't think so but if he does then it will be about music.
Nico’s stock value is also tied to HAM as he is the one who beat him in equal machinery: The better HAM, the better nico is
@@pervonhagelbrakare8172 You have a point. I have heard so many people put Nico in their top 10 for that reason. But I dont think anyone will ever beat Lewis again
Best moment was Nico locking his brakes up in qualifying and Lewis could not set another time! :)
The start of the silver war
Supporting cheaters I see
I knew it that's gonna be the first and highlighted answer.
Most memorable moment: Senna’s 59th lap in Monaco GP in 1988. 59 secs ahead of Prost. Ayrton was the f*#*ing Master.
No one can ever forget Arytons legendary lap
Unfortunately, no one recorded it. The most legendary lap of the track, and no one can ever watch it.
@Kevin James Hannant unfortunately, no.
@Kevin James Hannant Won what?
@Kevin James Hannant The board game?
Best moment has to be where Kimi just walks casual after his "crash" to his yacht and gets some drinks. Just shows his amazing and funny character.
This dude will never be forgotten in F1
Most memorable moment was when Kimi retired and walked back to his yacht and had a beer 😂
“A beer” lol.
Kimmi is one of a kind!!! huahuahuahu
Daniel's redemption in 2016 for me is most iconic moment.
When it was Daniel Ricciardo’s ‘Redemption Day’ after getting stuck in the pit lane in 2016 and putting an incredible effort in 2018
Thanks Nico I appreciate you uploading this I have always struggled with this track but bc of this vid I have improved keep up the good work
The moment of silence to honour Niki Lauda in 2019.
Legendary
9:11 Charles Leclerc clearly should've watched this video before his Quali
Best Monaco moment - Daniel Ricciardo's redemption win and the pure joy on his face while drinking his Shoei. Especially after what happened the year before with the botched pitstop that cost him the race that he had dominated up to that point.
I remember the first time I saw an F1 race in it's entirety was back in 2016 when poor Daniel didn't win the race. I was sad for him but I was also happy because Checo made it to third place.
I'm hoping tomorrow Checo can get to the podium again.
