You really need to talk to a pond builder. That soil is pretty sandy and can give away under a lot of water head pressure.
The farm project is super neat. Just keep neighbors in mind, you always have them and you don’t want any issues. Like the track and lake plans, maybe a dam with turbo turbine charger creating electricity. Goonzquad power company. Great stuff, keep it up.

Great Idea
Consider building a shed/shop out on the farm with two high cube containers on each side, 30’ apart, with 4’ knee walls to get some height. Throw on some premade roof trusses to span the 30’. One shipping container air conditioned as an office/fun zone, the other for storage. Four easily poured piers per container, then a 30’x40’ slab between them.

Just remember even if the pond was 1/4 mile wide it would still only fill to the present level at this present time since it doesn’t appear to be running off with steady flow. Definitely get with a professional before you go too big for the spring to ever keep your expectation of a level. Good luck
They have to do soil testing to see if the ground will even hold water or will it just soak into the soil that is there already !

Hope y’all talk to each neighbor adjoining the property and across the road. Their feeling about it will make a difference. It’s an agricultural area. Check out zoning and codes for you property.

Be sure to check local ordinances and permits required to build a racetrack. Also, try to clear the idea with any neighbors to make sure they're okay with the noise.

I cannot help but think this is a bad business decision. The land will have a poor uplift in value compared to the development costs. The limited track will have a short interest span with viewers watching a few circuits with different vehicles. I just do not think there will be any significant gains in values or interest.

Might want to check with the EPA before you start messing with the pond as some wetlands are protected

A lot more involved with permits and soil testing dealing with the EPA because of natural springs and ground water ! They just cant disturb marsh areas or wetlands like they were doing driving through that little pond ! Have to be real careful with anything to do with the environment now adays ! Its not as easy as they may think ! They may have to do environmental impact studies because of their plans for a lake and race track !

Are you going to have fish in the pond? If so leave some there. like downed trees, bushes things for the fish habitats. They need places to hide. The track is cool. We put a motocross track on our property. Best thing we ever did. Great video guys!!!
Having off-road trails incorporated within the track would be fantastic, providing the opportunity to test out off-roaders. Additionally, a elevated structure resembling a windmill would offer a panoramic view of the surroundings while serving as a multipurpose facility for off-grid power generation. (just an idea ;)

i watched you guys a long time, and i loved your vids from building - rebuilding all this cars. but in the last months maybe a bit longer your channel changed in a way i dont like too much. and btw, build a race track on that nice piece of land ist wasting resources - time and destroy that land. there are way better places to build a " Privat " race track

You boys need to check out the race track at Bathurst NSW Australia,it's built in the middle of farm land and is about 6.2kms from start to finish,has S bends,high elevation,and the annual race is 1000 KMs,run in October each year !

Guys be careful that the dept of transportation doesn't use imminent domain against your property for road expansion projects. Make sure you check with them and the county to make sure there's no road widening in your property area. They can do it without your permission and only pay you for your property at value

I’ve not seen it mentioned and I’m sure you’re aware of it but you might want to look into noise ordinance so the city doesn’t come by after thousands of dollars spent and hit but with more “to-do” things to cut down on excessive noise. But loving the idea and looks of it.
Rent a portable construction office. They’ll bring it out. And a port a potty..

Why rent one when they can buy one for long term use and storage. The rental costs would exceed the cost of a good used one. We bought a used 12x40 job site construction trailer for $22,000 in great shape. Renting one would have been $1300 a month. We owned it for what 1 1/2 years rent would have been and they will be building on this property way longer then that. Ours had heat/AC, 2 offices, a kitchen and a bathroom. We had a 300 gallon fresh water tank and the septic place came and emptied the tanks about every 6 to 8 weeks.

Would actually be a smart move for them. A cameraman / editor.. They need to try and learn from other successful RUclipsrs. They need to rethink their strategy.
Yall should think about excavating out the pond and use the dirt for the dam. Also clean out from the springs to the pond for better water flow. Should keep the pole barn just enclose the sides and use it for your heavy equipment storage.
I know I'm late to the chat, but make sure you get that dam engineered! It will blow out if you don't. One of my customers just lost their lake due to their dam blowing out this winter!

Time for building the new Goonzquad headquarters, with the nearby race track for testing. Add a farm tractor to fleet, and some heavy equipment.
Make a circle or oval track but u can keep it like u have it jus just connect the lines and leave the curves in it so u can have the option getting the max use out of the straights. The turns will still be there if u choose to use them…

Agree. I don't think they realize how expensive it will be to build a track around 100 acres. They can do it in less than 20 acres, have a really good track and be less expensive. I know someone who built a track like that, profesional track and spent 40 million on it.

Guys, why are you destroying your new property with a race track? There is enough of those that you can take your cars and new automobile creations. Save the land, if you want a trail or dirt driving and motorcycles ok, but not a race track.. I too like what your dad said, make your property a place to relax with your families.
Tracks have too many rules and some dont allow cars that are too loud.

Wherever you put the drainage, make it a concrete dam. Don't just stick a culvert in dirt...it will erode every few weeks. Put in some hard work on it now to save yourselves future hard work.
They have to get permits for all that stuff and it has to be engineered by the county or state !

Find out from the original owner or the municipal survey records where the septic tank or leaching field is located on your property. Figure out the stormwater drainage needs on your layout to install culverts as needed before laying down a half million on asphalt. Barn-dominium needs to be on the highest ground of course. Take your time, have fun but avoid irreversible mistakes.
It all has to be engineered by professionals !

Hi guys, Richard here again. A couple things to keep in mind are can you contour the springs to run into your retention area to form your lake. If the springs are exit points for ground water, what is the lowest elevation discharging water. Remember, the water level in the pond will go no higher than the water sources. This can be circumvented by using a solar lift station then the pond can become deeper. Get a geotechnical engineer to come out and verify you have sufficient clay to line your pond.
Race track sounds fun but is it useful? How about insurance if you open the track for events. Drag strip....are you sure you have enough length for this ? You will need a staging area, Track , shut down strip plus the usual emergency sand pit section. While the strip can be part of the overall track, the shut down probably can not be dual use for safety reasons. Don’t believe you can place driveway asphalt for a race track. If not it will rip apart in no time and become a bumpy useless course. You will need safety barriers. If you have competition events, where is everyone going to park. Remember the Freedom course was an existing facility and infrastructure was in place. A million dollars a mile for road course is not out of reason when starting fresh. I would use that for a budget number. Have you gone to the city or county building department to find out if what you are planning is allowed ? As you know from past correspondence I have been with you from the beginning and want you both to be successful. Just don’t forget the days of the red had held metal tool box and you will be fine. Hire a track builder. Seems like a lot of wasted space in the middle. Seems like you can build a mini Tsukuba or Hockenheim Short.
