@images7 what are your thoughts on its 1080p 24fps quality? I will be shooting my videos in those settings for my youtube! Also buying this with the RF 35mm 1.8 and RF 16mm 2.8! Good choice?
@@Ady.B I shoot 4K to get the best out of the camera, but 1080p is good enough for viewers on smartphones or even laptops. Some of my viewers watch the videos on big screen television. So in that case 4K is better. But again, 1080p is fine. I see you like to shoot wide. So, 16 and 35mm are good options. In fact, you can’t go wrong with RF lenses in my opinion. I think it looks good even in 120fps, of course it's probably better in higher resolution and in 60fps, but it's not so easy to notice straight away. It's really good especially for low light shots like this !
Can you tell what lens did you use for the clip and photoes? What are their exif? Iso, shutter speed and F stop. Thanks! Nice content, i'm definately sunbcribe to your chanel!
Hi Muhammad, Thank you for your kind comment. I used the 50mm f1.8 EF lens from Canon. I try to keep the shutter speed at 1/400 and f stop at 1.8 for most of the photos. For video I use the same lens and set the shutter speed at double the frame rate. Usually 24fps => 1/50, 60fps => 1/120, 120fps => 1/240. In this video there is only one clip at 60fps, slowed down to 24fps. The majority is shot at 24fps 1/50 and 120fps at 1/240 for slow motion clips. I hope that helps. Enjoy the ride and spread the love!
I'm seeing TINY jitters throughout the footage like at 9:09 and 4:59, do you know what these were caused by? Is it possible it's a result of no IBIS? Thank you!!
Hi! Thank you for your question. The R8 is my first modern camera. My previous cameras never had IBIS, so I can't compare, but I shoot both videos and photos handheld, no gimbal of any kind. Then I use Final Cut Pro stabilisation feature to smooth the footages. So do the jitters come from the absence of in-body-stabilisation, or from the software stretching the image to make it look stable, or another reason? I'm not sure. I often see the image wobbling in post-production. While filming the screen is too small for my bad eyesight. Of course before stabilization it's all shaky, but even after the videos are regularly jiggly. I suppose it's noticeable when the footage was originally particularly unsteady. I wish I could help out more about this, but I'm on my discovery journey with modern camera. My previous was a APSC I bought 10 years ago.
@@Guillaumesphotography THANK YOU so much for your response!! Can I also ask if you ever experienced the camera overheating in STILLS (not video) mode under direct sunlight? A few people are complaining about that online
@@MoreData-hz8hm no problem, I am happy to help. The overheating was a concern of mine before buying the R8, but I never experienced it once. Even though I used the camera for both photos (raw) and videos (4K) in the high heat of this summer (34°!). Only one time the camera showed me the icon indicating that the temperature was high, but not even to the first overheating warning. Although the camera gets fairly quickly hot to the touch. So if it doesn’t overheat under the direct burning sun of the summer 2023, I doubt that it will for still use only. At least that’s my experience so far, despite what I could read and hear here and there. Is the Japanese weather more appropriate? 😆 Don’t hesitate if you have more questions.
@@Guillaumesphotographythanks so much, I really appreciate the responses!! It's very reassuring to hear you never experienced overheating... can I also ask, if you ever experienced any blurry photos if you shot with the rf 50mm 1.8 lens? That lens has no stabilization, and coupled with Canon's lack of ibis on the r8, I'm worried that combo might produce blurry shots when taking handheld stills, especially at night... thanks so much for your help!! And yes, Japanese weather is not too hot, it will be fine for the r8 I think, haha
@@MoreData-hz8hm I have the 50mm EF 1.8 with the EF to RF adaptor ring. This lens also isn’t stabilized but I almost never shoot under 1/400 handheld to avoid introducing shakiness or blur in the photos. For nighttime photography I usually set the lens to 1.8 which makes it fast enough to capture light in lowlight situations. At 1/400 you won’t get blurry photos but you need enough light to capture a descent picture. Of course pumping up the ISO is usually required. If you want to shoot below 1/400 a tripod or a steady surface is required.
Shot on 120/60 fps but uploaded to YT at 25 fps? You did something wrong my friend. If you are to export at 25fps than your footage should be at 25/50 or 100fps. It's suprisingly still ok but dropped frames caused jitters here and there.. should be even better...
Thank you for the comment but I am not sure to understand. Yes, my timeline is set to 24fps. Because this is the frame rate in which I recorded the head talk and normal speed clips (24/50). The high frame rate was recorded at 120fps at 1/250 then slowed down to match the 24fps timeline. I don’t see what is wrong with the process. Maybe the jitters are due to the fact that I shoot handheld and that there is no ibis in the Canon R8? I will try the 120fps again (this time in daylight) so if you have some advice I will be happy to read them.
@@Guillaumesphotography This is a single video. So you can't have part of it 24fps half of it 25 fps. When I check the video specs on youtube "stats for nerds" , I see you have uploaded it at 25fps. Use the same footage but export at 24fps next time and you will see the difference.
