    Another practical tip in a restaurant is to be seated with your back against the wall thus limiting the noise behind you.

      Placing your back against the noise and placing the people you want to hear in front with a wall behind them is best

    Hi Doc, love your videos. Been struggling with exact same problems, anxiously awaiting your Airpods 2 review, hoping to start my use of an Aid with these, cost being the issue. Big challenge is hearing tv when my family starts talking. I'm 68 yo, been having problems for about 10 years now.

    I have KS10's and a partner mic. The partner mic is a game changer for being able to hear my wife in restaurants and bars. I just wish you could link up 2 or more to be able to hear better in a small group.

    How can I hear my students, multiple students, in a classroom setting with some bothersome background sound (a ventilation system). The acoustics in the room are not ideal either, I believe. Is there a way to pick up student voices and stream them to my hearing aids, more than one student at a time?

    My I phone has a live listen function that works with my signia motion x aids. I had a family gathering at a loud restaurant. I could not hear the other end of the table so I opened the app and laid it near the people talking. I bowl several nights a week and find it real hard to hear in the alley when all the lanes are going and people talking and music playing. I am going in next month to see if they can turn them up in those environments or add a program as they are supposed to be able to change between 5 preset programs.

    The first setting I got programmed after getting my Starkey AI hearing aids was a noise setting for background noise filtering. I have to be looking at whoever or whatever I want to concentrate on hearing, but the background noise is filtered out better. I don't want it 100% tuned out, but thus far, it's worked well for me. I've adjusted the tone settings occasionally, but the 360 reduced to forward only has worked well for me so far.

    I hear that Widex is putting out some form of table microphone to help cut out background noise at a restaurant. True? If so, have you tested it,and/or do you have a video on it?

    Recently 1 month back I purchased Phonak audeo P30-R hearing aids for both the ears. I am getting severe pain like a pin piercing in the left ear after wearing . Due to this I am not able to concentrate on any thing. I informed this to Audiologist. He advised me to replace the Dome with other size but same problem after replacing. Hence kindly suggest me how to over come the problem. I am from India.

    I’m anxious for this to drop since background noise can be awful. Actually, my biggest complaint is the fan from heat/ac in the car and at home…Ugh! For the record, mine are Widex Moments and, other than volume, the app controls are useless, at least, with the 100 level anyway.

    Question re SNR: Is SRT (Speech Reception Threshold) the same? Different? Related somehow?
    I have those SRT values recorded on my audiology report, but there's no SNR category. There is also a comment relating to mild to moderate SNL. (?)

    • @mikeg7684
      @mikeg7684 Год назад

      Hi Paul, SNR is signal to noise ration, SRT tells us what the lowest level of volume to are able to hear and repeat the word back during a hearing evaluation.

    Question: What effect would blocked eustachian tubes have on hearing response? Could they mess up an exam?

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  Год назад +2

      It would depend on if the blocked eustachian tubes caused a negative pressure or not. A negative pressure could cause a conductive component,but wouldn't necessarily mess up your hearing test.

      You need a professional plumber to add a faucet to drain water and sweat and dirt out of the head . Roto-Rooter might be expensive to clearing clodded up ear tube inside the ears and neck .

    Nice SNR definition! I didn't know that there were a specific test for this! Thanks!
    However, the rest of the video is a covert ad. I have just entered RUclips to copy your channel link and send it to my cousin, but now I feel ashamed of it. It's OK to talk about your sponsor, but this is just too much. And it feels like no other trademark do anything to improve hearing in background noise, which is not true.

    • @sylvia09xyz
      @sylvia09xyz Год назад +2

      I was glad to learn about SNR but I, too, was disappointed to find that this was more of a COMMERCIAL recommending and promoting what is likely another expensive new device AFTER most of us already have purchased our already costly hearing devices.
