By the end of the first year there were some folks (myself included) that were really wondering if they could pull the whole Six Flags thing off easily with the addition of 4 new coasters. Sure, we all know how it turned out but it was amazing to see those coasters in one year.....and a brand new one the following year. The "party" consisted of a construction tour shortly after with a marketing person commenting on how they were excited they were going to take Cedar Point's crowd.
but without the resort feature at Geauga Lake for guests to stay in the area for more than one day as there was not a whole lot of lodging options in the area.

@@Coolsomeone234 There was never a plan to build a SeaWorld in Sandusky. The marketing director of CP at the time became friends with SeaWorld’s founder and wanted a park in Sandusky, but the founder said no.
Who else wishes they could have experienced the Six Flags parks in the early 2000's? I love those transition commercials for when a park becomes a Six Flags park. I miss all the focus on the Bug's Bunny play areas and when all the commercials had Mr. Six and such. Plus I miss Six Flags Ohio, Six Flags New Orleans, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom (at least that one reopened), and Six Flags Astroworld.
I also believe it was only called Six Flags Ohio for one year, 2000. 2001 was when we got those ultra-cheap sea world passes that also came with the SF pass. It is too bad this place went down the drain. I liked spending part of a day here combined with a day or two at CP. 4 coasters in one year was crazy!
7:58. 2007-2008, I'm standing in the parking lot at King's Dominion next to the track pieces of Dominator which came from the former Geauga Lake. It is scheduled to open here for the 2008 season under the same name..
It's still hard to believe that they built FOUR new coasters for the 2000 season (a record I believe) and today they're gone. Sad. And why wasn't I invited to this cool party?!
I bet you do. I mean, it's not like someone will just show up at your front door with some sort of coaster stuff like that. Could you imagine? "Hey! I am not using this anymore. Did you want this entire B&M train" Ha ha.
I have tons of still pics from here when it was Worlds of Adventure. We stopped here unplanned on our way back from from Cedar Point heading back to NJ. Glad I got the experience this place. The floating bridge cross the lake was pretty cool.
I am glad I was able to experience it. However, I stopped visiting in late 2001 as the customer service had gotten terrible. When Cedar Fair took the park over, there was a lot of promise in bringing it back to a well run park again, but that only lasted.a very brief time before the park was torn down. What a strange story.
It sucks that the park was killed because they wanted not only to overexpand with an ambitious plan and way too much corporate spending, but also trying to compete 4 parks with Cedar Point.

Ha ha. Actually, that statement wasn't totally false as it was the first to include a twisted spike. Linear Gale was a very, very tame rides as far as impulse coasters go. I was so happy to ride it but was so used to Superman that LG felt very slow.
I wish I did. The park was notorious for not allowing guest to record the rides at the park, and I don't mean POV. I was yelled at several times by employees for recording their rides from the midways. Anytime I went to guest relations to complain, I was never given a reason other than "you cannot duplicate the Six Flags logo in anyway." Because of this incredibly ignorant policy, I didn't record much video from inside the park other than on media days. I have a video being released in August that contains some off-ride footage of X-flight during a commercial shoot. I haven't uploaded anything from the media day when Six Flags Ohio opened. I just have to review that footage to see if there is anything worth uploading as I don't remember recording very much. I do have a lot of construction photos of the park though.

At least the park got another season in. Six Flags made that park un-enjoyable for many folks so it was nice to see someone come in and at least try and bring it back to a pre-Six Flags time. Yea, it didn't work out at all, but it was nice to go back to the park and not worry about some of the ignorant things that Six Flags put into place.

+DigitalDegenerate I believe SFFT is a far better park than what SFO was. The park simply couldn't handle the crowds it got, resulting in sub par visits for many of it's guests.
