The documents sent to you are the backbone of our United States government and was meant to give us freedoms and rights that were put into law for our protection, independence, and, is still the structure for our US society. Although people try to change the laws, these still stand until this day. Very proud our forefathers were so wise in implementing these for the US citizens.

Yes, every day they fly a new flag over the Capitol building. So there are 365 or more (they may fly more than one a day) they give out. Many times schools will request them but individuals can request them too.

When you pulled it out of the box and were struggling to get the bubble wrap off, I KNEW it would be a flag case with one of our flags inside. With the inclusion of the copies of the documents, I had a feeling our flag would be making an appearance as well. Very meaningful for us and when you both started to tear up, I knew it was extremely meaningful for you!!

I could understand Carol's confusion on Congref.. back in the old days they wrote a long S sound with a LONG S instead of two s's. Its like when you see a sign that says "ye olde so and so" the y is not a Y but a letter we got rid of called "Thorn" that looked a lot like a Y that was used for the TH sound like in The and That.

WOW! Those two really hit you two in the feelings. The American flag means a lot to me. I spent year on the Honor Guard while in the Air Force. I've folded hundreds of flags at military funerals to present to the next of kin. At an Honor Guard funeral after folding the flag we'd put spent shell from the firing squad that performed the 21 gun salute. The shell represent Duty, Honor and Sacrifice. It always broke me when Taps was played at the funeral service. That tune still gives me goose bumps to this day. You two do deserve that flag, we can see and hear the love you have for our country. God Bless and stay safe.

It's such an honor to receive the flag. Here in the US, the oldest daughter will receive the folded flag for their parent at the funeral if their parent had a military funeral. They would also receive the rifle shells from the firing of the rifles for the military salute.

Almost every day, when I'm on various social media, I read derogatory and critical comments about America and Americans, made by various people from other countries who are often too cowardly to admit what country they call home. It brought tears to my eyes to see the heartfelt emotions from you both when receiving a flag that represents who we are. Often what is shown on the news does not represent who we are as Americans, we are a kind and welcoming people overall, and would welcome you here with open arms. Hopefully one day soon you can visit us.

You two had me crying a little when you opened the flag. The very first video I watched of Reckys was when he reacted to The Star Spangled Banner as you have never heard it. I was touched by your saying you would defend our anthem now when someone said it was a war mongering song. We love our flag not because it has been in many wars, but because of the people who have sacrificed and died to keep freedom for our country. Many thanks; for that alone Recky and Carol you deserve to be honored by having that same flag flown over our Capitol.

the flag is a very powerful thing to give as a gift. especially when you consider where it was flown. they are fairly rare and not a minor thing to try and aquire..... and then to give it to someone half way around the world

The script is what was called secretarial writing and scribes were taught to use it for official documents.

You started reading "We the People of the United States" and I kept reciting it right along. I had to memorize the Constitution, The Declaration of Independence and The Gettysburg Address when I was 10. Somehow, it's all still in my head. The one Carol was asking about looks like Congrefs of the United States. You have to remember it was written with letters we no longer use. The word is actually Congress.
I am glad to see the flag means something to someone. I think there so many people who need to remember that. My wife received hers when she retired from the Air Force and when she passed away I received one for her service.

Bill of Rights - after the Constitution was written it had to be approved by the former colonies. Some people were concerned that it could give too much tyrannical power to the Government and not preserve individual rights. Well the Constitution provided for an amendment process, so to sweeten the pot and encourage adoption, the Founders rolled out 10 amendments to clearly protect peoples’s rights. These came in a bundle and came to be called the Bill of Rights - so they’re part of the Constitution itself, as amended.

It is Congress, not Congrefs. It's an old document and back then how they made a double S. I'm a genealogist and come across many documents of my ancestors who write the double S this way.
