- Watch this quick video tutorial on how to sew an all cork Dayna Pack. Pattern is by @LindsHandmadeDesigns and is a cute, small, and functional piece that is perfect for day trips, vacation days, and my personal favorite - dog walking!

I'm sewing on my @JukiHomeSewing TL2010q, using a size 14 micro-tex needle by Schmetz and Mettler thread size 40 (my favorite!) with a stitch length of 3.5. As always, the glue I use is Beacon Fabri-Tac, my zipper is from ZipIt Zippers, and my hardware is from etsy.

Sew cute and tiny. Looks perfect for walking. Phone - Kleenex - and a lipstick. Well maybe a little cash. Nicole I just found this video. So good and encouraging to see you fix anything you know isn’t perfect and move on, satisfied with a job well done. I enjoy watching your bag making videos👍. Keep up great job!
Thanks for sharing!!
This will be perfect for my mom! Making it for her birthday
I bet she'll love it!
Great video! I learned a few things and I’ve been sewing a while.
Do you use the 3.5 stitch length on the whole bag or just the top stitching ( because it’s cork)? I have the same Juki 2010 Q 😊
I use that stitch length throughout!
@@SewGnar thank you
great little bag...think I'll make this one for my daughter...you rock!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Girl I love to watch you whip together a bag as fast as you do! Your awesome, I only hope some day I can get as skilled as you are! Ty for Sharing your talent with us!
Practice practice practice!
I just found this video today. I’ve made 2 Dayna Packs out of cotton. Love the pattern.
It’s a cute pattern!
1st time here! Love the beacon idea for securing seams!
Beacon is the best!
Thanks for the tutorial. I like to watch a bag being made before I buy, even though I have already bought the hardware for this bag. You made it look doable and I love your fabric and cork combos. Also, thank you for showing your mistakes and not editing them out. It shows you are human!
Oh I make mistakes all the time!
Loved your PBS IT'S SEW EASY SEG...
Thanks!!
I bought this pattern because you did such a great tutorial. Thanks!
Aww thanks so much!
Oooh, I have this pattern and I’ve made a bunch, but never in cork. Thanks so much for this tutorial! I’m going to try one in all Cork.
Awesome, can’t wait to see it!
Another great video Nicole. You have such a way with colour.
Thank you so much
Always love watching you sew! The bag looks great! ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this pattern.. thank you!!! As all your videos the instructions are so great. The camera view was perfect. I loved how you shared what interfacing you used with the cotton as being new to the bag making process totally appreciated. And the top stitching I thought was perfect for a domestic machine. Again TY!
No problem at all! Domestic machines are getting dumped for Juki’s and the like, but there’s nothing wrong with sewing on a domestic!! They do the same stuff, just not as specialized or heavy duty but I love my domestics.
Love this small bag. Bought pattern. I like how you slung it over your shoulder like x-body. Super idea. A butt bag on my hips is not a good thing. Lol. Btw, really like this camera angle at the machine.
Thank you for all the great feedback!
You made that look so easy!
When you’ve made a ton of them they come together really quickly!
Bobby-pins? GREAT IDEA!!! I found you through Lauren Mormino, I’m hooked.
They’re my go to for straps!
Right!? I have never seen bobby pins used in sewing before! So smart!
Hello! Great video!
Thanks for the visit
Pretty awesome!
Thanks!
Thanks Nicole, I made one of these in cork also last year I think it was and it came out squint :( I also cut one out of vinyl at the same time and its still waiting to be sewn together, I was so disappointed that the cork one didnt turn out that I gave up on the 2nd one, I need to take the hardware of it and maybe use the cork for something else tabs or something , rather than sitting there going to waste
Either that or donate it?
@@SewGnar not worth donating its unwearable lol
I use double sided tape on the birthing area before top stitching to keep it down for stitching.
Great idea!
First time here. Never tried the glue. Doesn't gum the needle?? Great idea. Love the bobbie pins. Could you sew the strap insteadof riveting? Really enjoyed this video. Will go looking for others of yours. Thx
It doesn’t gum up the needle, however this video is really old and now I almost always use double sided tape. You could sew the strap instead of riveting.
Thanks for the great video! Is there a reason you only top stitch one half of the zipper sandwich (hopefully that makes sense)?
Not the lining? I just prefer it that way!
Enough with the bricks already Sharon ;)
Anyway! :) Can a welt pocket be added to the back with a zip closer? Can welt pockets be added to cork? :) also, what about a rivet at the ends of the top stitch line to end/anchor the floating in space closing seam?
Yeah a welt pocket can be done with cork! And you can certainly add rivets!
Great video! The Dayna pack looks like a fun make! May i ask where you get your rolls of cork?
I always purchase from Fabric Funhouse, use code SEWGNAR10 for 10% off your purchase!
Can you tell me why you think bobbi pins are better than just using clips?
Easier to move around, they cover the entire strap, they don't leave impressions!
The new angle is perfect. You make things look so easy 😊😊. I have the Juki 2200-mini, what is the thickest thread you use with your sewing machine.?
Glad you like the new angle. I haven’t tested many weights with my machine, I love mettler 40 wt and that’s what I have readily available so that’s what I use!
@@SewGnar So, I'm a quilter and use 40 wt poly thread (expensive) is that thread strong enough for bag making, as I thought 70wt was preferred ? I'm soooo confused when it comes to thread use in bag making.
@@mommamea43 Thread is tricky and I'm just really starting to understand it. I use 40wt in my machine because I've found the thicker threads to jam up. When you have an industrial, you hav larger needles with larger eyes and the throat plate holes are larger, so thicker thread works.
What stitch length are you sewing at and is that a Teflon foot?
You can always find that info in the description boxes of each video! 3.5mm length, and yes I never take my Teflon foot off!
Oops...you didn't catch the fabric in the top finished seam. I had the same problem with this bag as well. I don't think the pattern pieces fit as well as they should. I added an addition stitch line around my bag tag at the top to catch the opening inside. So it looks framed about an inch and a half down. Hope this helps!
Where did you get your rivet template?
Tops and bobbins!
@@SewGnar thanks
I had your day of trouble with my project yesterday. Where did you get your rivet template? Great looking bag
Tops and bobbins sell them!
This looks great! Just wondering what you use to emboss your logo into the cork? It's such a cool effect 👌
It’s a brand from branding irons unlimited!
Hi. Where did you get this nice colored purple metal zipper tape?
It’s from zip it zippers
I video. My opinion could of been closer shooting. I like the size of strap good idea for different size person.
