I have a 99 cobra I bought 3 years ago , 4.30 gears , full exhaust with off road x pipe, steeda shifter , cooling mods, lowered , tuned... fat tires and it's definitely a fun car to drive has 01 black and suede ,very comfy I don't care that I get 8 mpg with the 4.30 gears don't fear the gear
At the time (99-00ish) I used the word, “Agro”, for the edgy design. I got the term from an early Nickelodeon show. It wasn’t hard for me to transition from the word I used to what everyone else called it. Not sure what you are so hung up on about a term that is subjective to different people.
Im not really hung up. You are putting yourself in a certain group using that term. They are pretty good cars., easy to work on for the most part. 99 was a 1st year for the independent rear suspension. It was a little better. My advice is the northern climate is tough on parts you discuss. People want to modify them which in turns makes other problems. It devalues them too. Regardless of what you hear. @@udonenomee2117

I bought a 1999 cobra brand new from ford dealership And mine was black aswell but convertible. $28,500 new bcuz of the wrong horsepower ford had promoted that year. I believe it had 290 but ford had said 320
Im gona tell you all the only clutch you dare put in an cobra 99 or 01 is an you all lissen the name is EXEDY racing single series racing clutch no other will do an dont let the words racing clutch worry you i mean its easy shifting an not to hard to push down an you all that say all this shit about the 01 cobras well me tell tou all something ok here it is my cobra had only 22.000 miles on it yal its a convertable mineral gray 01 cobra an yes showroom all the way motor compartment an body an mineral gray is one pretty color under lites an sun the way it turns colors anyway back on track about clutches after 21.000niles i started having shifting peoblems an it wasnt the 5 speeds fault its the clutch so i only take this covra to one place because of the condition its in with low miles any droped it off at my ford dealer an they called me a few days later an said their a hard time finding a clutch now rember this covras never been touched ok on these cobras the vin number tell the right stock clutch to put back in but guess what ford biscontinued this clutch some time ago ok here it to all car companys make changes in mid year on cars an the build date onmy 01 covra was 08/2001 an usually new car models start coming out in september so my dealer said that my car was made tords the last of 2001an got a couple of changes my point so my 5 speed got the 26 spline shaft not the 10 as with most of the first 01 cobras had but after 9 weeks down at the ford dealer they called me an said they had a fuken hard time getting the right clutch but finally got it the exedy clutch an let me tell you at first i really took it easy an after a couple weeks an about a150 miles i started a little more ped 7:18 al still a little outa key an then about a month an 300 miles i said to myself pushcit a little more so im at the stop light an when green now i didnt dump the clutch now i rolled it to about 2 grand steped on it an an talk about gitin it it did an i mean cherpin from1 st to2nd an 3rd its a different car its a lot quicker and a month later i had my ford dealer order 355 gears for rear an they didnt wan put em in but they did ive always let them work on on my car so they made an exception it was 900 dollara for gears an for dord to set the rear up right any those two things made my 01 cobra faster an so much easier to shift now never ever miss a shift its unbelieveable an ill leave it all stock i mean dor should of put 355 in to begin with an the new clutch is really stock any way the new clutch alone made the car perform quicker an now with the right gear in rear the car is like three cars quicker in a quarter mile race then what it would if been..
I picked one up a few months ago, loved every minute!
Cars like that you can leave as stock and just drive slow with the top down radio off listening to the exhaust It’s a fun car to drive
