I destroyed an attacker at Disneyland, he head butted me, but I had my hat on, then the attacker took me to the ground, I blocked his blow with a hammer fist block, then flipped him bk over, we both jumped up, then I pushed him off a little two foot walking ledge at Disneyland, and downward hammer fisted the guys head 6 times, then punched his face 3 times, and almost landed an uppercut, before Disney security stopped us. All I got was a scarped left knee, and scratch on chest. These really do work in real life situations, especially if you connect with soft tissue areas on the face (ie ears, nose, jaw, cheeks), with cheekbones it’s better to break them via elbow blows.
They sure do have their time and place. I'm pretty sure if you took out hammer fists and groin strikes from classic KaJuKenBo/Kempo you would be down about 80% of overall strikes! Those Cats would just hammer EVERYTHING ! Being an UKE was tough business, I learned pretty quick why the Old Timer wore Judo GI's, gave you at least half an arm to eat with when you got home. One version I still love and think is absolutely hard to beat is a spinning hammer fist. Lord have mercy if you can set that thing up and land it. As always much respect from Seattle, this is still my favorite Martial Arts channel. If you are new to the Arts get onboard and follow and learn.
Thanks for raising another important discussion point. In combatives a straight hammerfist is repeatedly "cycled" in a circular motion resulting in a fluid powerful combination.Again, avoiding hand injury allows for transitioning to weapons.Quality tactical flashlights with crenellated bezels can blind the bad guy and tear him up good with hammerfists. Love your vids!Thank you for sharing your experience and insight.
Thanks for another real deal video. Yeah those awkward neck strikes they might work in some situations but a good old fashion hook punch will do the job. Keep the real deal videos coming, you have a lot of viewers who appreciate your honesty with what works and what doesn’t
Charlitos1988 Depends where you hit, that’s the issue with most strikes Punch to the throat and solar plexus, hammer fist to the neck, hook to the jaw That kind of stuff, never do a straight punch on hard bone in a self defense scenario
There is 1 more useful variation of the hammerfist. It’s basically the standing downward Hammerfist. Say your an orthodox stance fighter with your right hand behind. Hit downwards and aim for the opponents left chin. Means you have to turn your elbow outwards (12 o clock to 9 o clock direction) It can also be used to strike the nose from above
Yep, I appreciate your take and advice. Good practical stuff, non pretentious. Thanks for replying to the comments, it shows what sort of character your are. Real deal!!
Thanks for explaining what is actually the point of a hammerfist because I thought they were useless but they look devastating with the downwards hammer fist and somewhat as devastating with the side hammer fist.
From the side can definitely be devastating. I've trained a lot of punches etc on the boxing pads, but it doesn't come close to the impact of the hard hammer fist
One i was sparring with a friend and he gave me a nasty stomach hook my reflex was to gave him the bud spencer hammer first right on the forehead (MMA gloves) dude was mad af an jumped me😂
i really don `t think you can say that hammer fist in ineffective ! ist more effective. with hammer fist you break someones pine- with regular punching you may break your own knuckles !
so first you talk about hitting concrete is safer with the hammer fist instead of knuckles BUT then almost at the end you say you prefer a jab and hook instead of circular hammer fist ? so what happen to the fragile knuckles doing a hook ? contradictory
When practiced correctly not like what you were showing, the inside hammer fist (pack sow ) is and even more effective than the others it’s just that you don’t know how to train it so don’t knock what you don’t understand
I disagree especially if they are in your face. You step forward for momentum and hammer fist them as hard as you can in the center of their face. "Repeat" don't kill them it's not that hard.
Late to the party. But... the hammerfist never really made sense to me. You are striking with some of the weakest bones in the hand, the site of the infamous "boxer's fracture". I once played a game of "deadleg" using hammerfists on each other, I fractured that bone with a hammerfist that wasn't even "full force", striking the other person's thigh. Hand was out of commission for months and years later it still bothers me every now and then. It's like the "edge of hand blow" (judo chop) to the opponent's forearm or face or whatever. Seems like you are just asking for a broken hand.
Why wouuld u want to hit someone in the back of the head for any other reason than killing them? Why are you teaching people to hit other people in the back of the head?
Hitting the back of the head, or the front of the head are exactly the same when it comes to danger... And somebody is attacking you must assume they are trying to hurt you badly or kill you and you must stop the threat
@@ThePitOnlineDojo :D yeah exactly the same, just a small detail, u dont have spinal cord on your forehead xD So no, its not exactly the same. How about you stop teaching people how to kill others on fucking youtube?
@@eduart732 these techniques are clearly for self defence, as a last resort. when talking is no more an option, when walking away is no more an option, when running is no option: when someone is coming at you or your loved ones with violence and is clearly not stopping until they get what they want from you or your loved ones. when that moment comes, you must use all force nessecary, and you cannot be thinking any longer about "oooh i'll try to stop this guy but i'll do my best not to kill him". it's what self defence is about, but you kinda missed the previous memo's i believe
@@eduart732 Not every strike to the back of the head is lethal... We see many people get punched and kicked in the back of the head in mma (mostly unintentionally). I don't recall ever hearing about a death caused by that. I have however heard of a man who was punched squarely on the chin, was unconscious and fell and hit his head on the ground which killed him. Self defense in a life or death situation has no room for considering the well-being of your attacker. The goal is to survive

Punches are discouraged in real fights as they can cause strained or even broken wrists

thx for your kind words
I am heavily in favor of HammerFists (or Hammer Blows) I have used basically all variations other then the 'Inside' one.

Are Hammer Fists Effective ?? Executed properly, they'll hurt the hell out of a man !!!
amen
2:21 if I have someone in a position like that I would knee them. It’s more effective to knee them in that position than hammer fist.

Appreciate these videos, times are dangerous today 😕
4:57 "pls no stabby" XD
This gentleman know what he talking about hands up chin down and hammer fist down
I don’t do kempo but i found that you can generate good force on the hammer fist after you slip to the side and throw it like a hook
One i was sparring with a friend and he gave me a nasty stomach hook my reflex was to gave him the bud spencer hammer first right on the forehead (MMA gloves) dude was mad af an jumped me😂
Hammer fist behind the head is a deadly blow.
@2:30 any reason why you would hammerfist instead of elbow? If it's self defense you could kill someone with an elbow in this position

I agree. Hammer blow is very effective
Hammer fist while watching porn keeps me speeding up the hammer

They were a core technique in bare knuckle boxing because they don't break your hands.
Do you substitute the hammer blows in form or kata?
Inside hammerfist rocks from inside guard on the ground
From inside the guard headbutts are great too
Yes
It's effective just when ur enemy is in the the floor
Dont do the second one to the back of the cervical. You will kill the opponent. It's dangerous.
