What i really like is it has a Fender style headstock as well, i don't like when a copy bass or guitar has a weird looking headstock it just kind of kills the whole thing for me at least.
Good call. An ugly headstock ruins it!
I am so with you...some of those cheap headstocks are fugly
1thess523 I feel you,ugly headstock's suck
1thess523 I honestly couldn’t agree more
I agree, but it's usually the only way they can guarantee not getting a lawsuit from Fender....which Fender would probably never win because Fender went too long before they tried stopping it that now their body styles are now genericized.
$87.56 now lol I had a Ibanez bass that couldn't sound nor play as well as my CHEAP P bass. The Chinese stuff has completely changed the guitar market forever!
Chinese is the way to go for sure! Super cheap stuff for amazing quality, of course the hardware is always gonna be cheap, but we shouldn't even mention it for the price. If one decides to invest some time and a little money on those instruments, they are gonna have an amazing instrument that will LAST, for a fraction of the price of a fender for example, which is the brand most chinese factories copy!
i think every time you do a review it drives up the price lol! but it is not your fault you are just keeping us informed on what is good for the price! Thank You for your work and keep on Man!
Ron Stickle ...nope. Just bought one on ebay today. $76.97 shipping included, no tax...and it will be delivered by friday. Its monday now. Not too bad of a deal.
If it sucks i will try some upgrades...or just burn it in my firepit!!!😂
I remember driving 2 hours to the city on the bad side of town to buy my first bass from a pawn shop, used for $150 in 1992. Oh and it was terrible.
But at least you've got a better story than "I ordered it on Ebay."
My first bass was a Yamaha BB 200, it cost $200 used, headstock end would always slide down as that end was heavier, haha, got the job done though!
I guess you could say your bassist career was... 'Born under a bad sign'
I was born in 1969, I feel your pain, things were so expensive for anything any good back then. These new instruments are actually unbelievable for the price. Lucky kids, lol. 🤘
@@ClearAdventure cheers fellow 69er, turning 50 in Dec... yikes!!!! Back when I was 14 my dad and I found a full 5 piece drum kit at the local dump, then found a second set with pedals and cymbals for super cheap at the pawn shop. I ended up with a sweet 10 piece with real double bass for less than $200 including new heads and extra bass pedal.
No fluff, right to the point with out the drama... also not attacking the product for everything thats wrong with it. I like these types of videos where the focus is on the strength of the product. If you wanted to make this better... maybe point out what you don't get with a cheaper instrument... was it set up well on arrival? Did you need to do anything to make it sound or play better. Finally who would you recommend the product to... like beginners or a spare to beat up on for gigging. Thanks!
Excellent points Lincoln. Thank you.
That actually sounds really good seriously 👍. I play, bass, guitar, and drums as well as my son.
1thess523 You want a cookie now?
Jeremy Clarkson yes
Who are you? I'm talking to this pussy here
Jeremy Clarkson Give me a cookie please
Jeremy Clarkson is that you in the thumb nail. You have a really good smile! You could be a model for Abercrombie!
I'm merely a bassplayer and when I'm given a guitar I'll just admire you for how you can play on things so small. So it's safe to say I am not much of a guitarist so I'm just here for your positive vibe during the reviews. Keep it up man
About your question asking about guitarists knowing more than one instrument, I used to only be a bassist but when I learned these other instruments I found that it was much easier to understand songwriting and improvisation because once you know how to think like a drummer or guitarist it’s a lot easier to fit the bass into a song and not have it sound to dull or too overwhelming.
I agree the transition is easier for guitar players to learn bass, than it is for bass players to learn guitar. I believe that to be true for most musicians.
PickCity1474 I think once you know a stringed instrument, all stringed instruments become easy.

I really appreciate your honest reviews of the lower priced instruments. Not everyone is made of money and these lower priced units you show us might make a nice addition. Thanks again.
You're welcome! I just don't want a lack of money to be a barrier to people who want to start playing!
I picked one of these up for my son, who is learning to play bass for $60 and free shipping from someone in NJ. The pickups are a little different from yours (his has exposed pole pieces). You are right about it being easy to play. I love the feel of the neck. I don't know how it will hold up. But, it is easier to play than a Sire Marcus Miller that I paid $499 plus shipping for. Obviously, the Sire sounds better. But, you could upgrade the pickups and still be less than $120 into this bass. Also, as someone else mentioned it doesn't have the weird shaped headstock that a lot of copy guitars and basses have. With a few swipes of fine grit sand paper you could take the "AMMOON" name right off f you choose and everyone would just think you're playing a custom "partcaster" bass. The body is VERY light and it does neck dive a little. But, Hey, for $60 how can you complain? I wish they were making basses like this when I was a kid and learning to play. My first Bass was a "Global" EB copy that I think my parents paid $150 at Sears in the eighties and it couldn't hold a candle to the playability or sound of this bass. I have also bought the tuner and the delay pedal you reviewed. Thanks for doing these awesome, honest, and factual, reviews. If you review something I know I'm getting accurate information.
I love the idea a budget musician looking for good quality, but I only ever see guitar videos for it, and I do play both and would love to see more bass stuff too.
I've got a $76 bass review! But you make a good point! We need more bass gear!
Yes, that’s what I meant. Thank you and more please! Lol, sorry for not being explicit
Who in God's name would think of Glenn Danzig?
Mike Mixer he’s like the opposite personality wise.
I made a comment a few months ago bitching about the long intro. This intro is perfect now man, you've nailed it. Also, the content is great. keep up the good work. Glad i subscribed!
Thanks Mike!
I just bought one in Blue. Going to do a fretless conversion on it!! 87 bucks shipped to my door....
First song I ever figured out was Kiss...Rock and Roll All Night.....on a crappy bass. But , you know...if the passion is there, you can make it sound good. I now play guitar, bass, and drums....just jamming with buddies, but isn't that really the best times!? So much fun 😎
Nice. I play bass in Taunting Giants and guitar for Zooks Nook. I put some bright DR red bass strings on my red aamoon to make the overall sound a lil more bright. I lightly sanded the frets on the side and lowered the action and she is now ready to be played out live. $77 worth it.
Nice! I agree that this bass could be a bit brighter, but strings and amp / EQ settings would probably easily correct that.
A good set of new strings make a huge difference with the ultra cheap basses! At least for recording purposes.
I bought a goplus guitar on Amazon for $80. I wanted to replace its pickups, but I couldn't find any pickups in its size.
Hi, Max! In answer to your question about bass, and or, guitar players... I believe that every guitar player eventually plays bass, and every bassist eventually plays guitar. It's just part of being a guitar player I think. I know I much prefer to play bass on stage, for some reason. I just love the way they feel and play. Also I have very large hands and fingers which could explain why I'm just more comfortable with bass guitar. So yeah, I think everyone that gets proficient on one, or the other, is eventually going to play both.
My main instrument is guitar, but I also play bass in the studio, and occasionally fill in on bass in a buddys blues band. I use an old Yamaha $200 bass that I installed an active pickup it. This Ammoon bass looks pretty nice for the money!
another solid review. Bass needs a pickup upgrade. started on bass added guitar which eventually became my prefered instrument.
Start out playing bass after a failed attempt at guitar now I play guitar and I play bass I also like screaming deals on instruments that have decent fit-and-finish cuz I like to customize and Hotrod a lot thanks for the video great information
Excellent review and professional demo ! Yours was the best and most helpful review of this line of guitars. Thank You !
Re: ending question
I prefer to play guitar, even though I started on bass. I like to keep at least one of each nearby as I write all the parts for my music myself.
I have 1 bass. An ol Squire MB-4 which I use when I track my own stuff. It looks lonely along 27 guitars but serves me well. I shall check on getting me one of those Aamoon basses. I have the stray copy and it's awesome.
Also as a home guitarist for 40 years it doesn’t hurt to throw down a bass track once in a while !!!!
I use an Ibanez SR300E bass for recording it's the only bass I own I think it's awesome very versatile
Sounds pretty good for a sub $100 bass! Nice 1 Max!
Do you know who these are made by, most ammoon stuff is rebranded chinese brands (Joyo, Mosky etc) and they don't sell online to Australia but the original manufacturer might
As a musician, I started out playing drums for a couple years then transferred to guitar and bass. I've been playing these instruments at my shows and the more I play these instruments, I get out my comfort zone and experience new ideas. Also when I'm writing my own songs, I like to hear and play certain instruments to see how it will fit with the song.
you didn't show the 6.35 mm jack plugin hole..
if i didnt already own a squier 70s jazz bass (heck yeah geddy lee) and a yamaha RBX i would get one of these.
covfefe nothing wrong with amassing an arsenal;)
+1
Dude I gotta ask are you the same maxwell that plays for Hellion?
Yes indeed.
Guitar, bass, drums, tambourine, triangle... 220, 221... Whatever it takes brutha!
Great video. These cheap guitar videos never seem to get old. Love it!
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video hoping for more bass videos from Max.
I love the budget gear videos! Just wish there was more bass on this awesome channel.
Help Max! I need more suggestions for cheap basses and gear!
I will take that into consideration!
@@GuitarMAXMusic thank you sir! That’s all I ask!
I play both guitar and bass, depends on the mood I’m in when I wanna play guitar, also how do u get gigs, u mentioned u keep a few basses just in case someone needs a bassist short notice, where would u hear this short notice?
I have one .IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK .I HATE IT ......DECORATION WALL HANGER
Cool review ! Can’t beat that price !
FU, Max,you already convinced me to buy the Glarry P. Just kidding, but not really. people listen to you, bro.
I got a really bas bass, returned it. Got one even worse. Not your fault... but ...
Sure nice of the Chinese company to pay the licensing fee for the Fender shaped headstock. 🤣🤣
A DECENT JAZZ BASS FOR JUST 76 BUCKS :-)
MR. LEO FENDER : WHAT DO YOU MEAN BUDDY ?
Saw this video...just had to buy one. Got one on e-bay $76.97, free shipping, no tax. Will be delivered in 4days. Amaaaaaaaazing!!!
If it sucks, i can just burn it in my fire pit!!!
These things disappeared. I had to get rid of mine due to relocating. Thought I could grab another . Nope. ☹
Thanks for the review. I’ve needed a beater bass for quite a while
This will do.
I play bass, keyboard, drums, and guitar, pretty much equally.
It's funny how much of what you review and recommend is sold out.
I don't think it's a coincidence.
People respect your opinions and respond accordingly...by buying it all!!
I once purchased an Ammoon strat for around $60 - $70. Examined it closely - besides the cheap hardware I have 2 major observations. 1.) The fret work on the one I recieved was horrendous. Full of sharp edges up and down the entire neck. Okay - you can fix that. 2.) The holes drilled for the tuning pegs. They obviously didn't use any kind of template or machine. They didn't even use a fucking ruler. They eyeballed the spacing between the holes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF? Never again.
Ordered this from ebay for $79 and just received it. Same color. Its totally playable. No buzzing or sharp fret ends. Wanted something pick up some extra gigs aside from playing guitar.
I'm predominantly a bass play by trade. But if given the chance/opportunity to do guitar, I'm mostly a rhythm guitarist.
I broke down and purchased one because I wanted a cheap bass to just mess around with. The order process got messed up and the seller was very receptive. BUT...once they shipped and I received what turned out to be a defective bass with bad machine heads...nothing...crickets. SO BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! That being said the craftsmanship was not anywhere near a squire. It is a 79 dollar bass.
Hello very Nice review!! As a musician (mainly strings) i live to play every instrument i can get ahaha have two basses, eletric mandola, synths, guitars, ukuleles, bandolim, Portuguese guitar... omg its an addiction to learn all this but it keeps me alive, i would be In a drug Path or even worst if music did not exist.
I feel like I'd buy this and replace the strings and pickups with more expensive gear
In 2007, i bought a Rogue bass on musicians friend for 79.00
Wish i still had it. It’s was an amazing bass guitar
What a great deal for a nice looking playable Bass!
Thanks for posting.
Great guitarist, But I don't need to tell you that mate. Hands down you've won on this one. 76d is a bargain , in hull ur looking at 150 dollars (£125) at least, so you've won ere. I love playing bass, it simpler to play than a jimi. Peace out.
Yes you can make a shit guitar sound good with a nice recording setup. Hell you can make a rubber band sound good with good equipment and editing. I will stick with my stwrling music man stingray thanks
What amp are you using? Doesn't the amp make all the difference?
I bought an Ammoon Strat copy a while back. It had some fret sprout, some dings on the back of the neck and a crooked tuning key. They actually refunded part of the purchase price to make up for it. It looks pretty much like an expensive Fender. Plays great and sounds great. I do have an issue with them doing a pretty much exact copy of the Fender headstock. That could be a trademark or copyright issue. I think Ammoon, Irin, and Glarry might be all made by the same factory. I have no problem with that. I'll probably get gear from all three. Great review, sounded pretty good for $76.00!
The best benift to these is the cheap, pre made body. As long as that arrives mostly intact, just remove the pickups, tuning pegs, and anything else your having trouble with. It'll still be cheaper than getting a pre made bass, and if you find out you hate the bass, your only $75 in the hole
I've played guitar for a loooong time. Was never interested in bass at all. About 6 months ago I got a wild hair and bought one of those green dean basses at gc. Now I play it as much as guitar. For me bass is fun and it actually enhances my guitar playing experience. My advice is if you play one then play both. BTW huge fan of your videos Max. Thanks for the content.
I bought this exact color/pickguard Ammoon Jazz bass for 81 bucks received yesterday. Judging by the one I got in the mail, all are not created equal. The neck pickup is slightly crooked. The bridge pickup route, and subsequently the bridge pickup is way crooked top at the E string tilted forward and overall not centered in the body. The bridge itself is not centered offset a little high and slightly crooked on the body where the strings don't go straight up the neck equally with the E string getting pretty close to hanging over the fretboard and the G string almost where the D string would normally be. For sure the bridge mounting holes would have to be plugged and redrilled on center. The neck seems OK. The outfit I bought it from off ebay wants returns sent all the way to China at buyers expense but the thing was shipped to me from Jersey. I don't know if it's worth doing that on a crap shoot whether the replacement would look as good as the one showed here. They must have really picked him a good one, or he just received a good one. Trust me, not the case for me.
I have this bass in blue but unlike yours it apparently has a mahogany body which I couldn't believe for the price, it's quite heavy, but as per your review it's a great bass for the price, I always get comments on it as to people thinking it's a $200-$300 bass.
Dudes, they sell the fender head stock logos decals on eBay for like $8.00. I got one on my old 92' squire bass- looks legit!!
Is it hard to pick up bass when you primarily play guitar? I’ve been thinking about it.
From the other side, I'm a bassist but I have a guitar and am looking into more. That ol' GAS is catching up to me. The guitar I have is a $120 Washburn acoustic in a natural finish, nothing special.
I’m always learning. I have been considering buying an octave pedal to loop some bass sounds. Now seeing this, maybe buy a bass. Do I need a bass amp?
Good tone bro well worth the money . I can tell you're a guitarist because I started on guitar before I switched to bass . Learning to use our fingers and I corporate slap pop was and still is a challenge.
Might be too long for me to find this and get an answer...but what is the nuts width? I'm really close to buying this for a beater bass but don't want it if it's neck doesn't come close to a real jazz bass. A lot of cheap jazz basses have a width at the nut more similar to a p bass and I'm trying to avoid that.
Most definitely play both the instruments for recording
That fretboard isn't rose wood. It's that Ferro or something like that. I think that's what it's called. Fender are using it too on their player range, that and maple.
You're not being fair to yourself or your band sticking to just one instrument. I wish I would have picked up more when I was much younger but playing both bass and guitar really helps in the writing process.
Your guy must have not got the memo that musicians had to be skinny little guys that don't ever workout because they are busy practicing alone in their bedroom.
Bass is really cool it's just that we are mostly attention seekers and want to have the spotlight. And even though slapping does indeed get us dat feim, we luv de gitarr. Something to note here is that there are many people with bad bass playing technique (mostly right hand) and I am really happy to see that you played it safe and stuck with the single finger route.
really not the review i expected for a vintage style jazz bass but im not mad
Thanks again man. I ordered one this morning. Got a black one. Probably gonna change the electronics .
Nice. I wouldn't buy a bass but for so cheap I have to get one. Do you know of any cheap 6 string basses?
I too appreciate the quality of your reviews. No silly verbal exersizes just nice adult information. THANK YOU!
I agree! 👍
to answer your question, I am getting into playing bass and was looking for an entry level instrument and I think this might be it. Sounds really good and the price is a definite plus!
Very decent sound,.......what is the body made of?
Terrific video and review! Can you tell us if the neck and head stock have a clear finish or are these unfinished?
I play bass too Max. You never know when a band needs a bass player.
Good call! Bass players are in demand much more than guitarists!
It depends, great guitarists that really know their instrument will always be in demand. But yeah, it pays to be versatile.
I dig it. I think it looks and sounds great for the money too. I might check that put since I've been thinking about adding a bass to the collection.
in the links, the pickups look different with metal in them. is it the same?
Was there any adjustments involved, or is this out of the box and tuned?
how's the output on the pickups. will they need to be changed
Is the fret buzz because of your technique, or are the frets uneven?
lol the tracking number shows ur address
the bridge pickup dimension seems wrong
I just received this bass yesterday and even without a set-up it played quite good for over 2 hours at a rehearsal last night. The pots are wired strangely and the intonation is off a little bit (again, proper set-up), but it sounds great and the action is good. I'm very happy with it!
Excellent!
A badass bass bridge is a nice addition to a jazz style bass.
Can't hear shit with all that damn metal music,!!!
Heard a tad bit of buzz but for the most part sounded nice.
Just ordered one today. Can't wait for it to get here.
Would it be worth it to put some money into this bass?
playing a bass with a pick? that's illegal!
is this bass available for left handed players?
For a cheap bass, it looks really good.
That is a great idea and I like to play the Bass guitar also
I like to play bass on occasion. and that's a nice bass
