    Hi,
    I just got my Firefly Bass. WOW! What a beautiful instrument. Perfect fit and finish. I've been in bands since 1963. I am not a bass player, but IMO this is as good as any Fender P bass I've ever seen. I bought it to do bass lines for my home studio. It's sick that I could buy this beautiful guitar for only $149. Thank you and thanks to Firefly. Shalom/gw PS I will probably go for a set of those pickups you recommended. They are going for $179 everywhere.

    One of the best deep dives, and set ups of this great looking bass that I've ever seen anyone ever do anywhere, firefly is doing a great job with all their products, thanks a bunch for a great review. 😉👍

    Great vid as as always. Appreciate the time and effort you put into making these. Very helpful. Noticed on their website that they aren't using the high mass bridge plates on the current models. Just the cheapo bent steel plates. Still looks like it's got good bones for a project. Cheers.

    Thanks for the commentary and playing. I just revisited this video, as the bass popped up on the website again recently and I was curious (they did not listen to you -yet- about the pickguard). All the best.
    Aside: It's interesting, as Firefly updated their logo prior to this latest batch. I wonder if this is NOS or someone forgot to update it.

    Firefly always amazes me with their quality for a budget guitar. I had a LP jr double cut that was amazing. The p90 in it was solid.

    I am happy to see someone knows the name of Marillions bass player. I love his playing!

      Not sure why I hadn’t seen this comment before now. Pete is a great player and an awesome human. Got to see him with Marrillion and Transatlantic. He plays with such joy. You just can’t help but smile watching him play.

    I was really curious on how the bass would be. The bridge and how solid the is wood was concerning to me. I might pick one up

    Thanks for the nice review. I ordered one today for my home studio..😊 Do I need to replace the pickups or will the factory units work OK. If I need to replace them, what would you suggest? Move over Les. Here I come! Yeah, I wish. LOL. Shalom/gw

      The stock ups are good. Nothing to get excited about. If you did end up replacing them I highly recommend the EMG GZR’s. The Geezer Butler signature model.

    Mine will be here Tuesday. If it's as good as it looks, I'll probably install a set of Geezers. Sweetwater has the same price as everyone else, $179. I have a sales engineer there, (Sunni) who I buy from. She's a very nice young lady. I bought an Ed Sheeran Looper X from her last week. Thanks again for your help!😊 Shalom/gw

    Hi, Question; Do you know if anyone sells a white pearl pick guard for this base?
    THANKS! Shalom/gw

    • @TheTapeFarm
      @TheTapeFarm  9 месяцев назад

      I do not. It’s pretty much an odd ball shape. The body is similar to a Jaguar bass but the pickguard is way different. You probably would have to make one yourself. Which isn’t all that hard.

    Wow, almost 10 lbs!?! That is one SERIOUSLY heavy instrument-heavier than my 8.5 lb Stratocaster, and heavier than my ~9 lb Mexican Squier Precision bass… Not sure how that compares to other bass guitars. It looks like it’s overall very well built, and those P and J pickups look like a great combination. But forget the bass, I want to know more about that awesome looking G&L and that awesome looking PRS that you were playing in the demo! 😂

    • @TheTapeFarm
      @TheTapeFarm  2 года назад +1

      The old Irish Ale ASAT Tele and the Translucent Blue PRS SE Standard 24. Both really versatile guitars. I don’t play the G&L as much as a should. The PRS is one of my “go to” guitars. It’s just really good at just about anything. It has one of the best sounding coil split circuits I’ve ever heard. When I bought them, I think the G&L was about $600 and the PRS SE was about $500. I think they have gone up since then.
      And yes.. the bass is let’s say, substantial. That being said, I’ve played some really heavy bass guitars in the past. It’s one of the reasons my go to Bass right now is a short scale Fender P bass. It’s 7.5 lbs.

      @@TheTapeFarm 1) Funny thing is, the G&L Tribute series and the PRS SE series are both made by Cort, if I remember correctly! Then again, MOST “budget” lines from virtually ALL of the big names seem to be made by either Cort or Samick these days. 2) The PRS Custom 24 is truly a wonderful guitar all around!!! I don’t have one, but I do have the IYV IPF-300 semi-hollow and the IP-350 solid-body PRS clones. 3) Incidentally, I see that Firefly also now has a PRS clone “FFPR” model. I don’t need any more PRS clones, but that YELLOW FFPR sure looks tempting! 4) I bet a semi-hollow bass like the Hofner “Beatle” bass, or a clone like the IYV IVB-500 would be even lighter weight, but EXTREMELY neck heavy. That’s why I’ll never get one. I don’t understand why PM continues to play his.

      @@zuperdee I have one of the cheap Hofners that I keep flat wounds on. Sounds awesome for stuff that calls for a flat wound tone. Very light, but sounds great.

    GREAT PJ Bass review Keith. Got my Tobacco Burst 3 Mini HB Firebird this week. SWEET! Probably swap the PUPS at some point tho the stock ones are serviceable right now. I'm at 12 FF guitars at this point and I'm all set...I think. :)
