My dad had 2 of these, he gave me the gold one and kept the white gold one… I was so afraid to own such an expensive watch, I didn’t even have a safe at the time and I was paranoid of braking it by changing the date at the wrong time of day! (Something I did to a cheap watch when I was a kid) I literally can’t afford to own a watch that cost 2 times more than my car. So I gave it back to him. Now I can relax.

I bought on preowned several years ago. Still worth what I paid for it many years later. Got the white face with blued hands and numbers.
Not sure the price increase was only related to the new movement but the portugieser chronograph price has definitely been climbing over the years.

I heard it has low power reserve , low water resistance and prices too high! But I love the classic look!!!
it's considered a dressier watch, (even though it has a chronograph surprisingly), dress watches don't usually have high water resistance.
