The gas from that plant is used to run large gas powered generators made by a company based in Austria called Jenbacher Energie they produce over 1,5 megawatts of electricity each and there are several there, The sets run very lean and the emissions are a lot better than just letting the gas go to atmosphere.
Never been to this site. But the Jenbachers look to have Heat recovery Steam Generators on the back of them. They generate steam from exhaust heat which is used in the THP to cook the sludge before it goes for digestion. No sludge comes out of the digesters to go to the farmers fields - as per the name, it gets digested. It's basically pasteurised after the THP anyway, so would be no good for growing.

A few years back I asked them for a water meter and they kindly advised me that in my situation, one bedroom flat, I’d be best off not having a meter as it would not be cost effective. Some years later I became suspicious that they had not been entirely truthful. So I asked for a water meter. They refused. I refused to pay until a meter was installed. They fitted one. My bills dropped by 70%. When I spoke to them about this, mentioning the advice they had given me, the reply was ‘You didn’t have to take the advice’. Their ‘advice’ cost me something like £3000. You picked a really good Sewage Works here DJ, it'll be well worth you getting a guided tour of the site its a fascinating process of how they deal with the flow from the sewers ect.
