Hello, I'm a 15 year old man from England and your videos are brilliant! I have now got a separate wardrobe for my formal wear filled with blazers, many cufflinks, shirt studs, collar studs ect and am still collecting them. Your guides have really helped me look my best and your advice has just helped me embrace a look that is unfortunately dying as time progresses. I'd just like to thank you for the videos and helping me to look my best!

I picked up a set of natural pearl cufflinks with silver setting at an antique store for 15 bucks... I love looking at flea markets and antique stores, you can get some high quality used jewelry pieces, furs, and hats at GREAT prices

My first pair of links I picked up at an antique sale they are 14k white gold with diamonds in each corner ( they are square ) and a large cabochon dark amyphest in the center . The dealer was asking 700 .oo and because he couldn't identify the center stone positively , I got them for 400.00 . They have a strange jewlers mark I can't identify . It's a stylized ck inside a diamond type lozenge . Wore them on formal night on our cruise to Alaska for our anniversary and to my son's wedding in australia.

Even though I only have one shirt with french cuffs I love cufflinks! My most prized are a solid gold pair with an emerald in the center which belonged to my late grandfather, and I have a pair of Japanese damascene cufflinks that I actually found in their original box tied up with thread and never before worn!

My all time favorite is a vintage from the 1920s, elliptical front double-sided silver with green mother of pearl on top, discreet and very nice looking, its linked by a little chain and it is beautiful, the only thing is that it is a bit difficult to put it on while wearing the shirt hehe (I always put it before wearing the shirt). Also bought some good ones at thrift shops. A strange but very effective tip is that two pairs of the same earrings can become real nice cufflinks (other earrings can become nice boutonnieres) but you gotta have some good sense to it, that works only for earrings that already look like cufflinks (or boutonnieres, I got one (earrings, on a thrift shop) that is like a golden leaf, it is a clip earring, that one looks like it was made to be a boutonniere) XD

Your post was great! As l have mentioned before on one of your previous posts regarding cufflinks, l have a small collection most of which l have acquired in vintage shops etc. I look for classic design and most of all good craftsmanship. I have an art deco gold tigers eye ring and noticed your ball and claw pair with the tigers eye. I think that they may be a nice addition to my collection. I also like your comment regarding buying quality things that will last over time which does help the environment.

I have gotten some fun cufflinks off of ebay. There are a lot of used ones there, and you can get them for a few $. I just remember to treat it like catching a city bus, if you miss this one don't stress there will be another in a few minutes.
Also I have a few of the cloth knot type that I mostly got for when I am going to be flying so they don't set off a metal detector

I've loved French cuffs since I was my sister's ring bearer in 1975. My cuff links were gold plated, monogrammed,, and I've used them for 45+ years. Cheap, but highly sentimental, and still look great. Now I'm 52 and have a very small collection of cuff links bc I don't have occasions for getting dressed up that often. That said...my favorite cuff links I've found are from Charles Tyrwhitt. Any comments on their brand, good or bad, Sven? My favorite are enamel blue and yellow fleur-de-lis and red enamel Starburst.

In my opinion there is no need to dress up aka wear a suit to wear cufflinks. When I wear a suit I of course always wear cufflinks but often I just wear a shirt at the office or private events and still pair it with cufflinks. I think those old rules to only wear cufflinks when you also wear a suit and a tie are now osolete. These days it is much more relaxed. Nobody ever complained about a missing suit when spotting my cufflinks. Just the opposite: I often receive compliments for wearing cufflinks.

I have a pair of cufflinks with a T bar that have a whale toggle, they are they hardest to open and close cufflinks I have. I personally don't have a problem with a T-bar cufflink, the only type I would be interested in is a 2 face cufflink with 2 different designs.

I think there should also be a distinction between cheap and affordable.
Some cheaply made junk would indeed be cheap. But something that's of decent quality but not yet of high enough quality to be considered luxury is more in the addordable category.
I believe this distinction should be made mainly because of the negative connotations that the word "cheap" carries when it relates to quality.

On your "100 books for your menswear library"-list you list some books about cuff links. I am torn between "Cuff links" by Susan Jonas and the one by Bertrand Pizzin. I don't expect you to see or respond to this message, but if you do than I'd be very happy if you could tell me which one you recommend a bit more (and maybe how they differ) since they're both listed as "nice to have". Kind regards and thank you so much for your content. I'm always looking forward to new videos :)

Once upon a time you mentioned the possibility of Canes or walking sticks. Whatever happened to that idea? I would buy one in Alpaca silver. Also known as German silver. I know the one I would buy. But they want an insane price for it. Right now my most common used cane is Rose wood with a derby handle. Looks nice with most things.

Somebody needs to talk about Donald Trump's sense of style. Plain-suit plain-shirt plain-tie is tough to pull off in general, but that's what the guy wears 90% of the time. And the other 10% reaches no further than a striped tie or blue shirt. Same thing when he's hanging at his club -- always a white polo/khakis, There's nothing creative about it. Ever.
And it's always been that way. It's like his hair -- he's worn it the exact same way his entire adult life, despite the fact that it's a huge pain to make hair look like that.

    • @Harry-tb8yo
      @Harry-tb8yo Год назад

I think his "hairstyle" is quite creative or at least unique. Other than that I find it a bit disturbing that he regularly wears cufflinks and a nice watch like his Vacheron Constantin. Can a rude guy like him really have some sense of style? But politicians in general or mostly do not really cut it in terms of style in my opinion. Ronald Reagan was the exception since all of his suits seemed to fit like a second skin to him.
