Those two Mustangs are really nice, but at 66 yrs. old I sure as hell don't need either performance pack. And, being retired and on a budget, I need some tires that's gonna last a little longer than 10k miles! I'd be quite satisfied with a regular GT, cause I ain't gonna track any car! The only thing I would option for is the exhaust. Gotta have those pipes puttin' out all that music from the motor. Great review Joe, as always. Keep em' comin', thanks.
I'm right there with you. I just ordered a GT premium, and the only option I ordered other than upgraded wheels was the active exhaust. The seat warmer alone is going to make my old age feel a lot better!
I bought the 2021 GT pp1...Love everything about it...Dont need sticky tires and magna suspension, she rides beautiful....and as far as the extra botox front lip, it's just a disaster waiting to happen on any steep ramp.
Incredible review Joe, I personally like the PP1 Mustang because of the simplicity of the exterior. I absolutely love the manual transmission. Yes maybe Tremac manual for u but at the end of the day a manual is a manual. Thanks Joe.
Sounds like one is for showing off on the street, and the other is for track days. I'd want a daily driver that I can take to work on nice days, so the PP1 sounds perfect. And that PP1 wing is just downright sexy.
My childhood dream car was and still is an 89 fox body. Last year of the really solid motor and NOTHING beats that exhaust note. Its unique worldwide. With that said, I'd take either of these. Great review once again!!!
Here in the UK we get the PP1 package as standard (although only 444 bhp) with digital cluster and leather seats. Recaro seats and Magneride are both options but we don’t get PP2 option at all ☹️. I love my 2018 GT as Mustangs are a much rarer sight over here (especially in Orange Fury) and the American V8 sounds awesome. Great vid as always 👍
Hey Joe! I agree with the standard gauges, they keep the Spirit of the old Mustang's alive. I just wish they would offer the Tremic for an option. Both are beautiful. As always great camera stuff Tom. Love you both and Lori to. 😍👍
Well, history doesn't change. But I've heard other history from him when reviewing other kinds of Mustangs like the Shelby. New viewers perhaps haven't heard the history even though longer term viewers have?

Joe your reviews are spot on ! I went with level one as I use my GT for a road trip car and it's absolutely amazing. The level two is a beast on the track for the money. If you changed the tires out for 4S's on the level two it would be great on the street as well. The wheels on the level two are awesome. Either way you can't go wrong if your looking at getting a new Mustang. Keep up the great work!
Picked up a 2019 GT PP2 this weekend. Went from a 2018 Challenger TA with a 392. I gave up 25HP but wow what a difference. The weight of the mustang being lower than the mopar is totally noticeable. I test drove the GT with the PP1 and it it felt fine but the PP 2 is more. More road feel and more control. The Mag ride is a nice addition to an already well balanced car. I can't wait to get through the break in period as that could be 10% of the tire life. I guess i will look into a set of Pilot sport 4s tires before too long. But these tires are awesome especially down here in Florida with the nice warm roads. Mine came with the active exhaust which is nice for rolling through the quiet neighborhood. Start it up in quiet mode and drive through like it's a EV car. Put it in track mode and it sounds great. So far , I love this car. If you are going to spend your hard earned money and you want a mustang this is the way to go.
I did a resonator delete H pipe on my '19 PP1 and OMG it sounds so good. It's a little bit louder in quiet mode but not enough to piss off the neighborhood. And all 3 of the other modes sound amazing. Plus getting rid of that resonator shaves about 15 pounds off the car and frees up a few ponies.
I have a 2019 P2 I custom ordered from factor. Recently I went and looked at a 350, and at the end of the day with the mods I've done to mine. Mine simply is so so much better. This car is beautiful and amazing, and easily the best car driving experience I've ever had. I think I will own a mustang for the rest of my life.

I went with the PP1 setup and don't regret it. My thought was, just how much was I going to the track? That and sorry 1200 dollars in tires every 10k mile if lucky, so nearly $2400 a year and that's driving nice and not going crazy, not a cost of ownership I was interested in. This is my 8th mustang and I agree with you, anyway you go isn't a bad choice as long as you consider what your intentions are with the car.
I’ve gotta drive at the very least a Mustang GT. Never done it since I grew up in a corvette family so it’s been long enough. They really are looking good. Good review Joe.
Since my GT will never see a track, when I special ordered my 2018, I did not choose a PP. The roar of the engine and the 460HP will suffice for me. As I've done with my previous four GT Mustangs I have bought, I went with the first year model, since no major changes will take in the next several years. I hear the next new model will arrive in 2023. My GT could easily pass as a current year model until then.
Your on a totally different level when it comes to car reviews great idea showing the difference in PP1 and PP2 really helps people on making a choice 👍👍
Funny, I saw a 1970 Mach I the other day and it's amazing how small it is compared to the new ones. The 1969 and 1970 are two of the sharpest cars ever made.
Great video. Just found your channel. Looking at mustangs. I had trans ams for years. Had a mustang V6 that was great, and traded it after a year. Looking at GTs now. Don't need it but they're fun.
Another great review from the guy who should be a car journalist. It's nice to see how the PP1 stacks up against the PP2 going head to head. The PP1 appears to be a real fun player that's easy to live with every day, while the PP2 is even more focused for track days. Can't go wrong with either one.
Great video Joe!! Eventually I would like to get a set of PP2 wheels for my PP1! Keep up the awesome content brother. You are killing it!! 👍🏻🤙🏻 And just a quick side note since you mentioned Watkins Glen, I was born and raised and lived most of my life in northeastern PA about an hour from Watkins Glen. A lot of happy memories going to the track!!
The PP2 is great as a track dedicated vehicle. Since I daily mine the tire setup isnt practical. I opted for PP1 w/ Magneride. The Magneride is a must have on these as it improves ride quality infinitely.
I bought a 2018 Mustang with the Performance Package 1. I have a bad knee so shifting becomes more than mildly annoying to all out painful at the end of the day so I had to go with the automatic. Thus, the decision was made for me because the Performance Package 2 was only available in the manual transmission. Even so, I don't regret it.
Hey that’s the luxury of having a manual transmission, you can always find an adapter plate to tremec trans, maybe a custom trans mount, but nothing that can’t be done relatively easy. 👍🏼 you’ll probably need a custom driveshaft since I don’t think Input yolks are removable from factory shafts. If you need a custom shaft, you can measure it and get a carbon fiber shaft, thus improving performance with it lighter rotational mass. It definitely would be cheaper if Ford did it from the factory, but if you want it then you do have the option to do so on your own $$ and time
Yeah i mean really at the end of the day who cares about all those extras, because they all have the same engine=same hp/tq. with the exception of the GT350/500, even tho i did get the 2019.5 Mustang GT 5.0 6 sp prem./PP1
thanks. Your mustang reviews ((I've watched a few) are really helpful as I am contemplating buying one or another version of the Mustang for my next car.
I have a black PP2 GT , That said I got the PP1 tires instead of the sticky tires. Because I want to be able to drive it everyday ( especially in Oregon ) it rains alot here. But I did get the optional digital cluster and the navigation system. I also have red leather seats with the red trim. It's amazing.. I also added a Rouch Intake.
Awesome cars. The Magnaride suspension and sticky tires must be nice, but like the Type R, the tires wear down fast, and you know, they grab and throw up the gravel. I don't race, so personally I like everything about the Performance Pack 1. Plus there's the automatic option, but if I am going to get something like this, I will get the 6 Speed. If I want all the other stuff, I would go with that nice GT 350, but this one is more affordable, and I would be happy with this one.
Why not both?! It's funny, I watch so many US Mustang videos with left-hand-drive GT's, it's gonna actually feel weird when my RHD GT is delivered. That'll wear off quick, and it's gonna feel great. Kinda wish I could have it delivered at Walker Ford - that'd be fun, and you'd get to check out an Oz-spec GT Joe, but the logistics would be near impossible. HeyJoe, just wanted you to know, you said you know I'll get the Shelby or the Mustang I wanted you just know that. Well your right I didn't want to spend the money on the Shelby so i just purchased a 2020 GT performance package 2 all black and loaded. As a performance pack 1 owner, had the performance pack 2 been out when I got mine I would have gone for the performance pack level 2. With that said if you can afford a brand new loaded performance pack 2 then you should be looking at a low mileage Shelby GT350 since they are about the same price.
De-Pony front grill and wear around neck. Ha! just kidding about the neck thing. But I wonder if aftermarket could be less than a package from factory. PPII seems better for the money though.
If I was going to take it to the track I’d pick the PP2. I’d settle for the PPI for the auto transmission and longer lasting tires. Although they probably wouldn’t last long either if you know what I mean. Nice comparison! How about doing the same with the Camaro? 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
At 19:54 you talk about the tracking of the car due to the road and the steering wheel not pulling out of your hands. What if it does pull out of your hands and aggressively into those grooves in the road?
Thanks for the review Joe, been debating which sporty daily car to buy for almost a year now. Veloster N, type R, mustang pp1 or just wait for the redesigned sti. So many choices so little money haha.
Is getting the GT with PP2 still practical for just a daily driver? I know it's unecessary if you don't track the car often but I'd rather have it all anyway, to know I have one bad ass machine. Debating between eco or gt, and if I get an eco it's gunna be the 2020 hpp, but if I get a GT it's going to be a 2018 with pp1 or pp2. Hard decision for my situation.... have almost a year left to make up my mind but... it's tough!
@@RaitisRides Awesome! I'd save those wheels and tires for track days, and mount a new set of sticky ROAD summer tires to some GT350 style wheels and use those for daily use! Thanks for the response Joe!
I’m wondering if ford will make that 12” digital gauge cluster standard in the next year or so. I like both performance pack cars but I think if I’m spending the money I’m going to get the GT350.
Awesome review thank you ,, the good thing is the tires you can buy performance tires for the less money mustang ,, yes the end of the day you won’t have the total package ,,, but there’s up grades there’s things to help the less expensive mustang to perform and do as much or more that the total package mustang
PP1, wing makes it attractive. Where PP2, bigger wheels and deeper front spoiler makes it more noticeable of the 2. Kinda like that more sexier, sister with big hip's, big leg's, pretty feet! I still want the pp2 in metallic grey!
WOW someone like you did this AWESOME VIDEO BEEN ON THE FENCE you helped me Thanks very much PP1 V PP2 I would never imagine someone could tap into my brain as you just did
I just bought a 2023 Mustang GT Premium convertible with the performance package, which is PP1. Performance package 2 was never an option for the convertible. I am thinking about buying the wheels and tires, and the lower front spoiler that come with the PP2 and putting them on my convertible. Is there anything I should consider beforehand? Any reasons why I would not want to do that?
The one thing I'll I'll zonk on the pp2 is cloth seats a car with that much price tag and power should have vented leather seats if you're gonna pay that much it needs to be nice but it looks mean and will do well on the track

I went with the PP1. Everything I want, need, and then some. I’m impressed with coyote engine. The thing is crazy.
Always fun splitting hairs with different packages. Would love to see a comparison between a 2019 Camaro SS and 2019 Camaro SS 1LE!
The old muscle cars are classics for a reason. They were awesome. But, 50 years later, they can't hold a candle to what we have now.
I bought the 2021 GT pp1...Love everything about it...Dont need sticky tires and magna suspension, she rides beautiful....and as far as the extra botox front lip, it's just a disaster waiting to happen on any steep ramp.

As a performance pack 1 owner, had the performance pack 2 been out when I got mine I would have gone for the performance pack level 2. With that said if you can afford a brand new loaded performance pack 2 then you should be looking at a low mileage Shelby GT350 since they are about the same price.
Great video! Looking to save to get a 2020 Gt by next year.
De-Pony front grill and wear around neck. Ha! just kidding about the neck thing. But I wonder if aftermarket could be less than a package from factory. PPII seems better for the money though.
Love those pp2 rims. Can I get them somewhere ?
It’s easy ....if you want the Auto go PP1....if not go PP2
Wish I had this problem! But the black one is super nice go with that one whoever is deciding on this!
I totally agree with you!
Always great Joe!
You are the man! I appreciate you letting me share it with you!
Awesome video I’ll take performance pack 1
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
PP2 rear wheels are 11 inch not 11.5, similar to a regular GT350
Thanks Jay for that great info.
If I was going to take it to the track I’d pick the PP2. I’d settle for the PPI for the auto transmission and longer lasting tires. Although they probably wouldn’t last long either if you know what I mean. Nice comparison! How about doing the same with the Camaro? 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Performance pack 1 its a better daily driver.
I totally agree with you!
Out of these 2, I'm actually going with theee California special, because it's so good looking and it's special obviously
At 19:54 you talk about the tracking of the car due to the road and the steering wheel not pulling out of your hands. What if it does pull out of your hands and aggressively into those grooves in the road?
My hands moved the wheel.
@@RaitisRides mine does pull. Not saying yours was doing that. Is it normal for it to pull into the grooves or cracks due to the 305 tire?

Thanks for the review Joe, been debating which sporty daily car to buy for almost a year now. Veloster N, type R, mustang pp1 or just wait for the redesigned sti. So many choices so little money haha.
Is getting the GT with PP2 still practical for just a daily driver? I know it's unecessary if you don't track the car often but I'd rather have it all anyway, to know I have one bad ass machine. Debating between eco or gt, and if I get an eco it's gunna be the 2020 hpp, but if I get a GT it's going to be a 2018 with pp1 or pp2. Hard decision for my situation.... have almost a year left to make up my mind but... it's tough!
The PP2 can be totally fine as a daily it's just that the Cup 2 tires are super sticky and wear out quickly.
Love the channel
Great info/vid
I wonder what one of these would be like as a winter car with snows?
Not that great when it's slippery on the road, but that's why you buy snow tires or just drive like a normal person when it snows
I still want the pp2 in metallic grey!
performance pack 3 SO WHERE ADDING ANOTHER SPLITTER ONTOP OF THE THE OTHER 3 SPLITTERS FOR 3X THE DOWNFORCE
Im just a teenager but i really like to have a mustang
I personally waited till I was 25 before getting one just so insurance didn't eat me alive, but I know the feeling.
Goodness the performance pack 2 rims are better.
WOW someone like you did this AWESOME VIDEO BEEN ON THE FENCE you helped me Thanks very much PP1 V PP2 I would never imagine someone could tap into my brain as you just did
Thanks man for saying that and letting me share these Mustangs with you! Let me know if you have any other questions.
So that’s why the stock 2015 mustang gt wheels I bought for my 2016 GT PP1 didn’t fit 🤦♂️
great review of the two packages. Question, can a Bullitt be optioned with the PP2?
No. Totally separate
I wonder how many replace the pp2 tires with a harder compound to get more life
The one thing I'll I'll zonk on the pp2 is cloth seats a car with that much price tag and power should have vented leather seats if you're gonna pay that much it needs to be nice but it looks mean and will do well on the track
