A theme has emerged for me at Suzuka this week. It is drivers going off track and coming back on to immediately defend their position. In my view, after a spin or when re-entering the track, a driver has no right to defend their position until they are back up to full race pace. Thoughts?
You're not wrong mate. We all make mistakes but I try to get back on the track off of the racing line a when it's clear. If you're worth your salt and there's time left you should be able to salvage some positions. Nice to see there's some like minded people out there.
So realistically what you're saying is that racing etiquette doesn't matter as long as you've paid? Are you a forza player? You sound like a forza player.
Here’s a top for most of you. I always try to know the style of the guy I’m gonna pass, if I try a move once and he blocks me then I back off and make a decision. Option 1 if there’s someone behind you fast enough let him through and let them fight. The dirty guy is always going to block the pass but he can’t cover both sides at the same time. So he blocks the other guy and i go thru. Option 2. If I already know he’s dirty. I’ll send him into a spin when he tries to block me (which is really easy to do on a straight away). And I’ll deal with the penalty later. Because scum bags like those don’t deserve any respect. That’s why I keep my SR at 99. So i could loose a couple and still rated S.
1 race lap 4 you and the Italian were going to hot into that corner, both cars would of taken out the jaguar, (take a look at speed 0.25), the salty multiple change of direction happens more than you think unfortunately. Hard to stamp out. On the positive side you are bloody quick turn 3,4,5 before Dena’s.
Of course, the Frenchman was dirty and unfair. No question at all. But he is far from the most unfair driver. I am BS and thus one or two classes under you. In my races I experience such behavior and worse in almost every race. In BS are many over-motivated drivers who are totally fighting for any place. To achieve this every possible trick is exploited. The problem is that GT Sport does not punish such behavior because it simply does not recognize it as wrong.
Agree that suzuka is one of the best tracks in this game, in other racing games & in the world. The section from turn one to degner 2 is so challenging to get right but so rewarding when you do as you can really attack it (like lewis Hamilton did with his pole lap in qualifying this year, the onboard video is almost pornagraphic & i have to shower after watching it)
To help your driving I think you need to learn from the Jackie Stewart quote he said on top gear, something like once your on the throttle you don't want to back off. For example it once you start applying the throttle it should at least be remaining still or rising progressively (until the next corner obviously) but this game rewards this a lot, you'll notice it on the delta how much you lose with a choppy throttle out of a turn compared to smooth. Quite often your stabbing the throttle clumsily out of turns cos you've got on the power at the wrong moment or just not positioned your car correctly. Always try to have the car as straight as possible to get on the power more Also now your in the Porsche you have to really maximise the revs and get stuck into the circuit the first Esses and 130r in particular was almost like fuel saving. For example in the Porsche I'm carrying roughly 142mph through 130r, hit the brakes briefly then straight back on the power to keep the speed up you can gain a surprising amount of time there
I remember the second race of the video well. Was sorry that you spun on the hairpin. But it was a crazy lobby for me. Only A and S drivers so I was just happy to survive that one with a descent result. Gained a huge amount of points. I find it extremely dangerous to overtake someone here. They just have to give you a little nudge and off you go.
A recurring pain in the ar*e it seems. Drivers like that just make it so frustrating. This is one of my better tracks. I recently returned to GT Sport after a couple of months and dropped from B S to C B. With this track I'm slowly creeping back up. Have to get some racing more racing time on it before Monday. Those sweeping bends are fantastic when you get them right.
Blocked me on bathhurst, but thankfully karma is a nice tool of revenge. That Boca Guy was right in front of me on the second straight as someone punted me right in to him. His race was dead, and i got away without a penalty + a race win. Karma at its best.
A guy like that should be flagged somehow and Polyphony Digital should give him 10 seconds penalty for the next 20 races he finishes and remind him he is getting the penalty because he was flagged, polyphony digital looked into it and decided he was one dirty bugger and should get punished for it.
How is this guy in a team after all? Hits other people, blocks other people, doesn't behave correctly at all. Which team does want somebody like this? (I guess that he's in a team, hence the GT_BOCA_ tag)
I did get salty players on Gr.3 but then 1 left and I blocked them off (when 1 did not leave) but then blocked 1 off (when that salty player left) and tried to defend myself from those salty players
Really enjoy the series. Early on in your videos you used to take it easy and let others make mistakes - it feels like you push too much and you are making the mistakes that you used to take advantage of. Just seems like you should relax into your race and focus on cutting out the disastrous spins.
Well I guess we all want to win but sometimes you just have to accept when someone is faster than you. Personally I make one move and if I get passed than thats the way it is
maybe slightly ambitious on your brake point on the last lap final chicane i always thought there is no real normal break point because it depends on what traffic is in front of you could be called a lunge but you will get back to a+ in no time great channel
He's not doing anything wrong. He's defending his position. He's allowed to move across the track as much as he wants, unless he's under braking. Then he only has 1 move. If you can't tell that he's going to try to block you and counter it, then that's on you.
Yeah I don't agree, there's a difference between blocking (what you describe) and defending. Blocking is dangerous and doesn't allow someone faster that's trying to pass to know the other drivers intentions, especially if the driver blocking is repeatedly weaving all over the track to make passing impossible (aka driving in mirrors). An excerpt from from the FIA GT Nations Cup Regulation handbook, but also similar to other racing regulation handbooks (F1, indycar, etc) . 19.4 More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted. Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off-line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner. 19.5 Manoeuvres liable to hinder other drivers, such as deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track or any other abnormal change of direction, are not permitted.
By your definition, then super gt is a dirty driver. In fact every driver is a dirty driver. Every single driver moves like that at some point to cover off areas of the track that result in no pass. He defended borderline fairly. You may not like it, but it's still fair.
Well, after seeing your video and talking about your string of bad luck, I wanted to point out 2 or 3 things. From my point of view, I think that you should be more progressive on the throttle when exiting a corner. I saw you stabing at the throttle maybe too often, and it costs you 2 of the 4 races you made. Why not work on that and try to be more progressive ? Or learning how to throttle at 70-80% ? Also, it seems that since the last time I watched one of your videos (I think it's the last episode of "From beginner to winner), you started to race more aggressively. Maybe too opportunistic this time or like your last race at Bathurst when you tried to pass on the outside of Turn 2. The thing is, it's good to take what the race offers to you but it's really easy to lose position with the "Checkers or wreckers" mentality. I think being consistent and more careful can be better, like you did in the past. Keep fighting sir, and good luck for next time.
Once you stop stepping on the Gas to early I believe your gonna do a lot better. All them silly little spins cost you in the races. Just my 2 cents worth & I'm sure you know all this already. Love your Stuff so all the best for your Future races/videos.

Maybe you're focusing too much about the ones that races dirty because I know a lot of frenchmen who'll race you clean. In fact, lots of us choose to race only in private lobbies because they're also pissed at people driving dirty. Like I said, there's clean and dirty racers everywhere.
