Not trying to throw shade at this guy specifically and I’m not even sure if he’s sponsored by this company. But these bodybuilding supplement clips always make me cringe a little since all it takes is one big TikTok influencer making a certain fitness supplement recommendation for thousands of people to run out and unnecessarily waste their money on something they don't need. There's nothing inherently wrong with creatine hcl itself, but it does the exact same thing as creatine monohydrate only for a significantly higher price. The only "benefit" (if it's even a real benefit) is that the serving size is slightly smaller. But creatine monohydrate is also tasteless, so it's really not a big deal having to consume a few extra grams. Creatine monohydrate does not cause bloating, cramping or subcutaneous water retention - these are simply imaginary problems supplement companies create in order to sell you a higher priced solution. It's extremely bio-available, will fully saturate your muscles with creatine after around three weeks of daily use and is safe to consume long term. There’s really nothing more you can ask for from a creatine supplement.

Hey Sean, great content man! Would you do a video on "fortetropin?" Im hearing it has promising results, is all natural, cheap and derived from eggs. I was wondering your take and if you think it's worth it.
Thanks man!
The only problem I have with creatine monohydrate is that it gives me gas. I still use it though. I get on the leg press and fart like a steam engine locomotive picking up speed.
Seems like something that would only be useful if you were having digestive problems had extra money and wanted to cut the volume going into your body. I think they're conflating bloating. With feeling overly full.

This might be a wired question, but does it matter what age you are in order to take creatine?🤨

I find it hilarious that dude literally got his points from the bottle.
And this guy just says trust me. A lot of comments are actually backing the other one being easier on their stomachs so it isnt bullshit.
This youtuber has no clue what he's talking about the and he believes what he's saying. He doesn't even realize monohydrate doesn't mix as well, making the powder bottom out in your blender bottle and also your kidneys (kidney stones exist). Also since you need to take more powder you are forcing your kidneys to do more filtration than with hcl. Monohydrate is just worse in every way other than the fact it is more researched. Other than being more researched monohydrate is worse in every way.
It's an ad.
It's not just supplement companies. The entire US pharmaceutical industry is pretty much based on this concept. Tweak it a little bit, or combine two medicines into one and then pay doctors to push it on patients, even though it costs 100x more than the generic version or the two uncombined medicines it was based on.
Just posted something similar.
Facts. I used to work in a retail pharmacy, and one of the most common blood pressure meds was the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combo. But someone could easily take a losartan tablet and an HCTZ tablet and be fine, at a fraction of the cost.
@@ghostflame9211 was it a compound pharmacy?
It's actually more commonly the reverse, they give you a combined option that is cheaper but the premium is the lure version of one of those chemicals.
Like codeine, people pay more for pure codeine because well you can sell that shit
or that you could reverse the disease by spending LESS on food

Chemistry Major Here: The HCL form of pretty much any molecule that can be crystallized is going to be stronger and more concentrated than a hydrate form of the same molecule. Hydrates are compounds that have a very small amount of water molecules that get "trapped" inside the crystallized compound as it forms, whereas the HCL form of the same molecule is extracted using Hydrochloric Acid, (hence the HCL) which is then purged and crystallized in a much higher concentration. So technically speaking the creatine HCL form is in fact more concentrated than creatine monohydrate, but the most important thing to consider in this instance is bioavailability.
Your body is only capable of taking in a certain percentage of a specific nutrient at any given time, so if creatine monohydrate falls within your bioavailability threshold, then taking anything more is just a waste.
Hope that helps 👍

Hcl does cause bloating for people, thats a long proven fact. Hes spoon feeding you bs
Monohydrate makes me bloated and constipated
For me, personally, creatine monohydrate causes stomach issues. I have taken it apart from anything else and about 30 minutes later there are stomach issues. Creatine HCl, while crazy bitter, does not give me those issues. I wish monohydrate didn’t either. I will be trying monohydrate again to confirm because I haven’t had mono hydrate in 10 years
try some other creaitne monohydrate. You need to find one who is good for u
@@BogdanPW641 Yes, once I am through my HCl I’m going to try regular monohydrate again because I would absolutely love to be able to use that over HCl just because it’s way cheaper and it doesn’t make a drink more sour

fix your gut with probiotics. stop taking antibiotics, stop eating GMO food, stop eating transfats (high omega 6 inflammitory garbage vegetable oils like they use at mcdonalds canola oil , soybean oil etc) stop eating conventional sugar , stop eating conventional chicken breast (they are fed antibiotics same goes for other meat that comes from unhealthy animals) , stop eating farmed fish (fed antibiotics go wild caught always) stop eating agrochemical pesticide garbage its bad for the gut and irritates the gut alot. if you fix your gut you could handle the creatine which is naturally found in meat. sauerkraut, water kefir, milk kefir would be very good to consume on a regular basis with ongoing gut issues.
If you're a regular person, and take it either with pwo or protein powder, it's because it's just adding to the overall content of the drink. I used to mix it with my pwo but it was just too heavy on my stomach, so now, I just dry scoop creatine.
Even if hcl gives you better results, i would still stick with monohydrate because it's the most researched suplement in the world.
yeah me too, and it's cheaper. doesn't cost lot of money
There's also the fact that HCL is literally hydrochloric acid. DO NOT consume hydrochloric acid
@@hoesseinh8346 if that mattered people would notice brah
It's still the same supplement, you're promoting a bit of scientific ignorance here. This is just a difference in what the creatine itself is bound to. Monohydrates are simply bulkier but a cheaper stabilization and anti-clumping method. Both forms still break down in your digestive system to pure creatine and then absorbed into the bloodstream.
@@hoesseinh8346 No, it's creatine bonded to hydrogen chloride. Hydrochloric acid is pure HCL dissolved in water.

Creatine monohydrate and creatine HCl is pretty much the same as long as gym people are concerned.
Never did🤪🇨🇳
Who are you arguing with? No ones denying that.
Creatine monohydrate does actually bloat me though and HCL doesn't. I'm not taking any creatine for the moment, but it's the main reason why if I was using creatine, it would be HCL and not monohydrate, regardless of the cost increase per serving
Ik that’s what I was gonna say I retained like 5 - 7 pounds of water weight on creatine

I think people don’t truly understand what creatine is and how it works creatine is a natural thing your body already makes and is used in the production of atp when a muscle contracts a neuron fires causing many steps I don’t want to explain and towards the end it releases calcium which attaches to your muscle and the old atp pulls your muscle causing it to contract and new atp let’s you release which is why when you have low calcium water potassium you are prone to cramps because your body isn’t able to let go so you stay cramped I don’t understand this notion of creatine makes you look bigger it just helps you make more atp which in turn helps you work out for longer which makes you build more muscle
Monohydrate actually gives me insane stomach problems so I have to take hydrochloride so its definitely not BS

So I can attest to regular creatine monohydrate giving me an upset stomach. Now I could normally get around it by always eating something with it, but I did find that HCL didn't mess my stomach up. It's literally a personal preference for me, and at the end of the day, supplements are just that. To supplement what you should already be getting from food.

@@d1rt_baggg I drink a lot of water, I know that's not my issue. Especially when I have my camel back, I would have about 2 a day minimum, sometimes more if I'm out and about in the heat. Bro is carrying him on his shoulders 😂
I love how he said being more water soluble helps digestion. U could eat dirt and your stomach acid would dissolve it not saying, u should, but there's tons of medication that's not well dissolvable in water but that doesn't matter because water has barely anything to do with digestion.
medication is almost always in the form of salts to give it better bioavailability tho. just because you have stomach acid and what not doesn't mean you dissolve everything and anything. And water solubility is actually important, as is pH. Still, you can't compare solubility of medication and solubility of supplements, because medication(usually) is needed as quickly as possible and in higher % of the consumed quantity in your blood, because of pharmacokinetics, while even if you take a supplement with 10% bioavailability you could take like 10 tablets to reach the dose of a 100% bioavailable supplement and there wouldn't be any problem, because you don't really need it asap and the "therapeutic" window in most supplements is much wider than the therapeutic window in medicine
Solubility has a lot to do with the absorption of WATER SOLUBLE NUTRIENTS. It's in the name. Just take your creatine with hot water.
@@ChristAcolyte you don't get that that just means your cup of water will absorb it better right? not that your body absorbs it better because of the water. like dude said water isn't what helps you digest.
@@ChristAcolyte or take your creatine with food like a protein shake, so your body is actually breaking down real macros and micros alongside the creatine.

If you find that creatine monohydrate worsens acne, creatine HCl could be a decent alternative. It is similar effectiveness to normal creatine and not that much more expensive.
Id recommend trying to wash your bedsheets and pillowcases before you blame creatine but it could be a factor!
Yeah and if you're pushing a new diet really heavily then it could also be that
Look at every change you make and try to figure out what helps and what doesn't
And wash your hair after every gym session
its the conventional chicken breast and conventional garbage protein powders giving them acne its inflammitory and toxic. zinc deficiency causes acne breakouts. people that get alot of acne better avoid bad dairy that comes from unhealthy animals and avoid high omega 6 vegetable oils like canola oil and soybean oil this will defiently create acne instantly

One reason to pay the premium is that since the dosage is less, it’s pretty good for travel since most creatine HCL packaging comes in a small jar. Would rather pay extra to lug that around than than a large tub of monohydrate that TSA is gonna pull me outta line for

HCL is much better on the stomach compared to mono for me at least.
I personally like HCL the best. It cost the same as monohydrate for the same amount of servings. I felt noticeably more energetic during my workouts and also did notice less cramping. Some may argue bs but I personally felt a difference when taking HCL and think it’s worth trying. I’m currently on monohydrate but will be trying HCL once it’s back in stock at my local sporting goods store.

Sean give Bullshit advice once again.
Stomach bloating is not imaginary
The hcl component is also helpful for digestion and stopping the burps I get while working out
You only need to take a teaspoon of creatine daily. That dude literally had a tablespoon in his hand
This has very recently been proven otherwise.
Height, weight and metabolism has a big effect on needs.
It's now been recommended to take 10g for the average person.
This is as a result of someone who is 6'4 200lbs actually needing as much as 15g for optimal effects.

Creatine HCL does help people who are sensitive to creatine. I know a few people that get upset stomachs from monohydrate but not HCL
Even before creatine hydrochloride was popular I remember everyone talking about the effects of creatine monohydrate. And I personally did find the monohydrate hard on my stomach.
Monohydrate does hurt my stomach, but yeah I hate these sales tactics too.
And yes, I drink plenty of water. I tend to drink a shit tonne because I work in a physical environment. Unfortunately, it didn’t get better but hcl worked out for me
"HCL gives you less water retention" ...isn't part of the point of taking creatine to make your muscles retain water better?
Maybe because I was young at the time, but when I switched from creatine monohydrate to creatine hydrochloride there was a big difference i just felt way more energetic my recovery was better and my pump was better, it might be a placebo effect but it was effective 👍
Water retention is the fcking goal 😂
Looked like you were giving him a piggy back ride at first
Earlier today I went to a new supplement store, I ended up getting hcl over monohydrate but only because it was cheaper per serving at this particular place. As long as it does the same thing I'm happy.
It also happens to be a lot less safe, due to us knowing less about it and what it can do to the body.
This man is looking out for all of us ❤ thank you.
I thought it was all bs until I actually experimented myself. I first used creatine monohydrate creapure micronized and I noticed my lower gut was bloated I then switched to con - creatine hcl and within 3 weeks my stomach got smaller while getting more volume in my muscles. the hcl version is superior for me... some people may not get bloated from monohydrate, but I do.
And what isn’t noted is monohydrate creatine is flavorless in drinks, but hcl has an acidic very harsh taste
Hcl and krealcalin don’t make water retention under the skin it’s big difference

Bloating and cramping real effects of créatine monohydrate from personal experience. It very rare I have reaction to any foodstuff or simplement
I bought some creatine HCL back when monohydrate was in a shortage and while it got the job done, it was truly awful to take everyday. It’s EXTREMELY salty and you’ll taste it a ton in almost anything you put it in. With monohydrate a lot of the time I’d just throw it on some water and drink it quick but that’s almost impossible with HCL. I still have it chilling in my car as backup, but damn that shit is not good 😂
tbh they both have pros and cons I recommend trying both for yourself to determine which is better for you and your goals I see value in using both on and off
It probably would be worth the extra cost per serving, just because the smaller serving size should be less bitter. Altho, you can just buy a capsule form already to solve that problem anyway.
Creatine is one of the oldest, most studied supplements there are. Its benefits go way beyond just weight training. As for the water retention (bloating), yes that happens when you first start taking it…it’s actually one of the signs that it’s working. The bloating will go away after a week or so.

Expect monohydrate does cause stomach problems and thats why i switched to HCL and it worked
with the current crazy creatine monohydrate prices creatine hcl and kre alkylane are actually cheaper per serving
Creatine can cause bloating and cramping IF you mix it with fluid and delay consumption. After mixing with a fluid, creatine monohydrate will begin to break down to creatinine, a waste product. So, mix it and consume immediately.
I can't take monohydrate of those reasons he mentioned. The only downside is that I get heart burn if I should take it in it self.
Idk, but HCL works better for me, the taste is hard to deal with though. Never going back to monohydrate, took different ones and I really didnt feel it worked for me.
Was it just me or did anyone else see that bent bar at the beginning ?
Creatine HCL would be a great option for capsules/pills to take in a smaller bottle when traveling to avoid having to down a handful of pills, but I only ever see it in big powder containers. :/
More expensive? Its the same fucking price, my guy!
I have a gut disorder, so finding the easiest to digest foods is important to me. I will pay a premium if it's easier than monohydrate
It's good to know that there's someone that actually knows the facts about fitness and not someone who's just making up a bunch of stupidity to get more attention, views and money
Thanks Sean
In my country creatine hcl is practically the same price as monohydrate sometimes cheaper
I love HCl because there is no need for loading and it dissolved very well otherwise they both work the same.
There is never a need for loading
I've got IBS and for whatever reason, Monohydrate destroys me like nothing else ever has, while hcl has no side effects, so unfortunately I do end up paying a bit extra but it's so worth it to me.
You saving lives
By far the best reason to get hcl is the taste , makes everything sour as hell which I actually like. And it does dissolve easily. Other than that there is no difference
at my nutrition place they’re the same price, and you take 1/4th the dosage of HCL, easy choice
I am taking monohydrate for 3 years now and had absolutely no cramps.
Bloating is literally why I can’t take créatine. It digest poorly
Creatine hcl is also extremely acidic/sour and tastes like vomit where as monohydrate tastes similar to paper. You can’t really dry scoop hcl like you can with mono. You need to mix it with something incredibly sweet and diluted.
Also hcl is definitely not 5x more effective per dose. It’s only about 2x as effective and is about 5x more expensive per gram
You giving him piggy back rides is all i saw..lol
Kind of doesnt matter which kind you take, once the muscles get saturated after the loading phase.
.. if you wanna solve cramping you get some potassium and magnesium in your diet (weekly need, eat a banana). If that doesn't work you either don't have a developed enough blood vessel system (do weighted cardio or slow long intervals), or you have an underlying problem. It could also be a sign of overworked muscle, if that's the case you need to increase your resting periods.
Tbf, if you had a lotta money I’d definitely switch to HCL, monohydrate doesn’t dissolve easy and it’s a pretty fat scoop
Love your honesty
Its not true HCL does work better it's not honesty is just his opinion and that's cool
