Sharing in kindest intention. Berkey recommends red. Not sure why. And Berkey says NEVER drop the dye directly into Berkey. It should be dissolved into water in the jar before pouring into the unit. I like to place two empty jars in my sink and set the upper chamber on those jars and I can see what is happening.
@@rainsofhealing On my Berkey paperwork it states you must use "red".......something about the ingredients to make red. I would write it out exactly but I threw the paper away.

Yes. Berkey recommends red artificial dye, 1 teaspoon /gallon of water. ProOne recommends blue drops, not as much as the red used for Berkeys.
I thought it was the red dye test?????
Berkey uses red so my guess is that blue is another good dark color that’s not Berkey-related. It sounds like any dark colored dye would work though.
