- We’ve had our Berkey for 10 years and love it! But, when the filters recently needed replacing, we decided to try out ProOne G2.0 water filters instead. We’ll give our full ProOne filter review and why we are loving them!
This review will be more practical than technical. There’s other more thorough and researched technical reviews out there. But if you’re wondering how the swap has been to ProOne filters for a growing family, then you’re in the right place!

We have a Pro One and a good stockpile of filters. It's a great company. I ordered filters a few months ago and a representative from Pro One called me and said I failed to use a discount code that I was unaware of. She said she cancelled my order and then asked me to re-order with the discount code. What company does that?! They have a customer for life now.
Wow, that is great customer service! Thank for sharing and watching!
WOw, good to see, I;m lookimng for a great water filter since my distilled bottles are going up too much. Thanks for mentioning that!
What was the discount code?
First I ever heard of this with any company. I often forget about my cash back apps until after the purchase.
Guess we don't get a discount code lol I called them they don't have one.
I just ordered two 7" ProOne Filters for my old Big Berkey. Thank you so much for making this video! I've put off ordering Berkey filters since reading some controversy about them a few months ago. Watching your video and learning about the ProOne filters is a welcome option! I'm also happy that ProOne filters don't have to go through the time-consuming hassle of priming like the Berkey filters, I really dreaded that process.
Yes! So glad you found it helpful and hope you love your filters! Thanks for watching!
We have done both Berkey and ProOne filters but are using RO now instead. I prefer the taste and softness of the ProOne over Berkey's filters. I would argue that the replacement times/# of gallons filtered can't be compared fairly if you are going by Berkey's claims as to how many gallons a filter is good for. In all the time we used the Berkey filters, we never got what they claimed we would. What made us switch to ProOne was a small water tester we purchased that gave the ppm of contaminants. The ProOne scored considerably better.
Thanks for sharing! That’s great to hear how well ProOne did on the test. Glad you’re liking them and thanks for watching!
Agreed. Family of 4 used 4 charcoal filters and it didn’t even last 2 years. Keep in mind 2 of our children barely drink water.
My berkey filters get refilled 1-2 times a day and I've replaced them only every 5-8 years.... when they get slow I just clean and reprime them.
Does your water tester test for contaminants or just total dissolved particles, cause that not the same. You can have no lead and lots of minerals and test high for TDS, but still be excellent drinking water with no actual contaminants.
A TDS reader is not an accurate indicator of water purification.
Ive been trying to replace my Berkey filters for over 6 months and they’re always sold out. Stumbled onto your video and I’m super grateful! Thanks!
Awesome! Hope you get them quickly and love them! Thanks for watching!
Only good for six months. Pretty pathetic
I think they are not allowed to sell right now b/c of their situation w/The EPA...which is not comforting!
9G Healthfood has Berkey filters often.
We've had a ProOne a little over 2 years & sure do like it. The fact that flouride filtering is already in the filter so you don't need a separate one to filter out flouride is great.
We just got a new filter today & yep, always a new scrubbie included. And the water tastes great.
We have had the same filter in for 2 years & our water still tastes good....but the filter has a little crack....so we thought we should replace it now.
We have a filter on our sink faucet....it doesn't filter out much...but that's the water we use to put in our ProOne....I think that's why our filter doesn't need replaced as often as recommended. Even 2 yrs. old, it is white !
Thanks for sharing your experience! That's a good thought on having a pre filter on the sink faucet to extend the life of the filters. Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU!!!!!We have a Berkey and now we're a ProOne customer for filters. We also just bought the pitcher to bring with us when traveling. AND we got it with the holiday season discount!!!
Awesome!! Yes, such a good sale right now 🙌
Great vid! It’s such a small upgrade but the stainless dispenser valve is so nice to look at and feels great - worth the upgrade!
Agreed! That’s a great feature!
Thank you for making this video. After repeatedly dealing with heartburn after consuming well water put thru our Berkey, I discovered Berkeys do NOT filter out nitrates and sure enough, our well water tested high in nitrates! I have checked ProOne lab tests, and they do. Put in an order based on your recommendation. Thanks again!
That's so interesting. Thanks for sharing! Really hope the ProOne filters do the trick. Thanks for watching!
Has it helped at all?
@@n.a.garciafamilyI’m very happy with the new filters!

A very nice presentation as it was very nice to hear and watch your loving connection with each other as you both dialogued back and forth with a calming demeanor. Hope your RUclips experience does very well. 🙏🏻❤️👍
Thank you for your kind words!!
Thank you for this very nicely done presentation. And thank you for confirming what I first believed when buying the ProPure gravity filter about ten years ago... that it was the best and did what they said it did. And thank you again because I just bought two more ProOne 9" filters. And again for the dye test method, giving me something more to go on than just taste, for deciding when to replace the filters. And it is very gratifying to have all the confirmation that you and your commentors provide, confirming my original decision to trust the recommendation of Alex Jones, from whom I bought my ProPure 🙂
Hey! Appreciate your comment and glad you love your filter system. Thanks for watching and all the best to you!
Thank you so much for this wonderful info. I have been waiting to buy more filters after hearing the same talk. It looks like I will be looking into ProOne. Thank you again for sharing your experiences.
You bet! Thanks for watching!
We like ours. We have had a Berkey for years, but the spigot broke off within about 2 months. Walmart was selling on clearance a Sun Tea jar we purchased for like $2.00 which was massively cheaper than a replacement Berkey spigot. Now about a dozen years later the WalMart spigot still works. We want with an alternative ceramic replacement filter within.
Good to know about the inexpensive spigot replacement! Thanks for watching!
Many of the questions are with regard to you doing your own testing.
I heard on another channel that municipal water companies will supply homeowners with test kits.
It might be worth getting a few kits and testing your pre-filtered water but also testing your filtration system at periodic increments either by time or gallons or both.
That would make a great follow up video to this one.
Great thoughts! I think that's something we'll need to look into more. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for that information. I know for sure my Berkey filters aren't filtering much because the taste is chemical and super nasty.
Very good idea
Great video. Currently using 4 Berkey black filters in our Royal Berkey but considering moving to ProOne when we go for replacements. The major appeal for the ProOne is the fluoride filtration.
Yes! Definitely a great feature about the ProOne filters. They are back in stock now with a 15% off discount until the end of the month. Thanks for watching!
HI, Thank you for making this video. It was well covered (honest) and well presented.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Thank You, just bought our first Berkey and now have another option for Filters 👍🏻 You are the Best !!
So glad this was helpful!! Hope you love your Berkey!
Me also😂😂 ! 2024 trust no one especially my city water that floats down a river with our waste as well( unfortunately)
I've been a Pro One user for three or four years now.
I originally ordered the ProPur 304 filtration system plus filters from the US about seven or eight years ago. I'm in Canada, so a few years later I decided to search for a Canadian company, which would simplify ordering. I found a company in Alberta, Canada that I've been using ever since. The Pro One filters are exactly what I had been using which I got from the US. The service of our Canadian company is awesome. They are helpful and prompt with questions or concerns. I use two 7" filters and change them once a year. I ordered a second ProPur System so now I buy four filters at a time. I do a lot of gardening, so we go through the purified water when washing veggies, canning and cooking. We also use the ProOne ProMax Shower Filtration System in our bathroom. Their products are great. I feel confident that our family is drinking pure water now.💙💙😃👍
Awesome, so glad your experience with ProOne/ProPur has been a positive one! They just seem like a stand up company. All the best to you and thanks for watching!
Can you share the name of this company?
We have had a Pro One pitcher filter since December 2022. We had a couple of issues with how the lid fit the pitcher, but their customer service was EXCELLENT and took care of us right away and once we got the new one it has been excellent. Water taste great! I think it’s time to change the filter but I would like to make sure it’s necessary first (any suggestions on how to do this is appreciated). We chose Pro One because of recommendation from a family member who uses the big one. We wanted fluoride and chlorine (along with other junk) out of drinking water. Kudos to Pro One!
Awesome, thanks so much for sharing and glad you've had a great experience! I agree on their customer service being top notch. ProOne recommends a blue die test where you cycle through some water with blue food coloring to test how the filters are performing and if replacement is needed. We're not at that stage yet ourselves, but I'm sure you can find more info on their site about it. Thanks for watching!
We first got our Berkey Light about 16-17 years ago now. We replaced the filters several times over the years (five kids, now teens to 20's, and we also cook with filtered water). The fluoride and arsenic filters also had to replaced more frequently, making them pricey to use. We switched to ProOne when they were still called ProPur a few years ago, and have also been very happy with them.
We bought our college kid her own ProOne for Christmas this year (it was on her list), and would have gotten our married daughter new filters for hers but didn't think she'd be excited about that.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience! And that goes to show that a water filter can make a really great gift 🤣.
The Berkey flouride filters only last a year, so how can Pro1 incorporate one into the same filter? Does the entire filter get tossed after a year? We feel more comfortable having the two filters separate seeing Berkey black filters have longer filtration life.
I changed from Berkey to ProOne as well. I am happy with my choice. I use one filter but I am one person and have a two gallon container. Good video, thank you.
Thanks for sharing and glad you love your filter! That's a good point that the number of filters you have can definitely flex based on your needs and situation. Thanks for watching!
I’ve used Berkey for years. I have well water with bad stuff in it. The old black filters were great. The newer black filters are different. They contain less filtering medium and are much harder to prime because they don’t hold as much water. I’ve had enough of the newer black filters. I purchased ProOne filters yesterday.
I also did the red dye test on the Berkey filters, so I knew if they were working. I will do the blue dye test on ProOne.
Thanks for sharing your experience and hope you love the new filters!
New berkey filters are the worst
@@sharonchriswell8500 yes! I went to ProOne and don’t like the taste as much as Berkey. In a year when the ProOne are dead, I’ll try to go back to Berkey.
@@leahstewart6979I read they have around a long time, just under a different name before. I am currently looking for a filter so I've been learning what I can.
@@Trakehner20 yes, ProOne is a name change. They are okay but I still don’t like the taste as much as Berkey. Next year, I’ll try to get Berkey again.
Thank you for the info, my homesteader friends directed me to this video, so excited! Will be switching as soon as my black ones die. Don't want to take risks.
(So nervous to watch your Berkey SOOOOO close to the edge of the table, LOL)
Ha! Fair enough! So glad this was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review. I just bought a Berkley Royal from a MarketPlace person, only paid 100. I needed a good recommendation for filters. Thanks again.
Awesome! Love your being resourceful and finding a used Berkey! Hope you love the filters and thanks for watching!
Great Video you two! I have had a ProOne (biggest one I could buy) for at least 15 years, when I initially bought this system,, the name was called ProPure and not ProOne...that was a shock to me, but they still had the same great filters, and they've got better over time also, when it comes to cleaning out the toxins they're the best....so Good......friends love the taste of it!
Awesome, thanks for sharing! They definitely just seem like a solid company that cares about their products and customers. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate this video! I just switched to ProOne filters (G2.0 5”) for my Travel Berkey and love it so far.
Awesome! So glad you are loving them!
I’m going to switch to Pro One filters for my travel Berkey. Did you order the 5” or 7” filters? I heard where the 7” works too.
@@penelopeburruss512 I bought the 5” filters and they work perfectly in my travel berkey!
My Berkey filters lasted a little over a year and I would fill every other day sometimes everyday or more than once a day if I had to water my plants. I just purchased the ProOne filters because Berkey is unobtainable at the moment. Thanks for this review. Gives me peace of mind that I made a good choice
So glad this was helpful! We have been very happy with ours!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video for us. I trust you guys. I'm extremely below the poverty line but I'm so concerned about the water I'm drinking. Ill have to make my water container but I did purchase the filters from the link you shared. By the way...I love the little people that blessed us in the background of your video 😂😂😂❤
Aw, thanks so much!! I hope they work well for you! ❤️
Okay thank you so much for doing this. Every time I check, the Berkey replacement filters are sold out. It’s frustrating! 3 of my 4 filters keep failing the red dye test and it’s been about 21 month since I purchased them. So 3 months shy of 2 years. I was really stressed thinking about our water not being filtered and scared to buy a berkey replacement filter on Amazon. I just ordered two of these ProOne filters thanks to you.
You're very welcome! That all sounds frustrating. Hope you love the ProOne filters and thanks so much for watching!
Have you done a red dye test on your new filters? That's odd that 3 of your Berkey filters failed the red dye test. My Berkey filters are nearing the 2-year mark and doing well, still passing the red dye test. For 3,000 gals. each, my filters should last 7-10 years.
Good info! Thanks for doing this comparison study. I'm interested in a good water filter system and your video is valuable for that reason.
So glad this was helpful for you! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the review. I’m purchasing the ProOne to try.
Awesome, hope you love them! Thanks for watching!
me to im going to get a few and discard my berky filters for my homemade 5 gal filter
Not only the Berkey filters costing more the fluoride filters were HORRIBLE TASTING just being told they will taste good in a few weeks can’t believe i actually went for that as well as the added cost! Thank you for sharing .
You bet! Thanks for watching!
That horrible taste is actually very harmful. It's aluminum
We went through that with our Fluoride elements too. After talking multiple times with customer service, I found they can develop bacteria and that’s what was causing our bad taste and smell. :-(
Great video. Love your coordinated colors
Ha, we didn't even try that time but sometimes it works out 🙂 Thanks for watching!
I thank you very much for that info. I just thought it with my Berkey and I wanted to keep extra filters and I was wondering if there was a replacement and you just answer my question. Thank you very much for your info. God bless.
Awesome, so glad it was helpful and timely for you! All the best and thanks for watching!
I just ordered the large Pro One gravity filter system about 1 1/2 weeks ago, UPS should have delivered it yesterday but didn't. Hope it will make it in another day or two. I also researched all brands and Pro One seemed to fit the bill and the NSF certification was important. I have used bottled water for the last 40 years and became tired of buying and lugging it home and the expense has gone way up. I think a filtration system will be very important in any emergency and feel better now as you can't do without water !! Thanks for the video and showing how the filter cartridge is installed and washed off prior to use.
You’re welcome!! Hope your filter comes soon and it works out well for you!
Omg!!! I watched your milk paint countertop finish video about a year ago and I just scrolled upon this video while researching ProOne.
Thank you so much for helping me decide these tough decisions! 💗
Ha! That's funny! So glad our content is helpful for you!! :)
Noted! I just got a Berkey, after my friend was raving about it.
👍 thanks for watching!
Good video, we have a Berkey and replaced the filters with pro one, so far so good.
Awesome! Glad to hear they're working out. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this valuable information. Awesome!
So glad it was helpful!
Awesome review, thank you. I will be order a couple of these soon. What sold me is the fact that these remove flouride with the extra filters like Berkey. And those do not even work that well.
You’re welcome!!
I have the WaterDrop King Tank. These filters seem to do more than the ones I have. I'll check to see if I can use these. Thanks for sharing!!
Hope they can work work out for you! Thanks for watching!
Thumbs up to Doulton ceramic filter candles here. Regulated, tested, reasonably environmentally friendly and water tastes great.
Thanks for sharing!
The vertical design of any of these filters is flawed. The bottom portion works much harder than the top portion. A better design would be a disc like shape that is mostly fully submerged for the duration of filtering process. It should also be faster while utilizing the full filtering capacity of the entire filter.
Those are some good thoughts--I see what you're saying with the disc. But I'm not sure that means that it's flawed. Utilizing gravity is a pretty ingenious design and the vertical filter design gives you a lot of surface area for filtering, even though the filtering capacity does change based on the water level. Just some thoughts. Thanks for watching!
I bought a berkey and not happy at all. bad taste with the filters i bought with it. Only using 2 filters, thought i needed 2 more. but glad i watched you, i'll try. i also have a zero water pitcher that that is great. Thank you.
If you try the ProOne filters, hope you love them! We've been super happy so far and the water tastes great. There's definitely a personal preference element to finding the right filter... everyone has different tastes. I've heard from others who don't like the taste of Berkey but other brands are just fine. Thanks for watching!
Very helpful information! Thank you 🙏🏽
You're very welcome!

CT municipal water is extremely toxic but the most noticeable is the strong smell and taste of chlorine ! Our Berkeys filter out that strong taste and smell, making the water enjoyable to drink, therefore we will stick with what works. Everyone needs to use the filtration that affords good, clean, drinking water.
Totally agree and thanks for sharing! We love our Berkey too and just wanted to share our experience using a different filter if anyone is considering a switch like we were. Thanks for watching!

You may want to check out the truth about fluoride website. He did a test on the Berkey filter and IMO not good. Btw, Berkey black filters are currently not available due to an EPA stop sale order.
@@CL-im9lkexactly why I'm looking else where. Need new filters and they aren't available
Have you Lab tested the water from your new ProOne filters? The company can say anything for the sale. Berkey Fluoride filters add Aluminum into the water.
exactly, they are only NSF certified for parts but not NSF certified for actually filtering out what the claim to be filtering out and the labs only test 200 gallons, not the entire life of the filter (1000 gallons or so) - we spend all this money on a product, why the heck do they not have better testing and a legit certification by a 3rd party saying what they say they filter they are actually filtering. Who came up with the 1000 gallons test. Berkey claimed 3000 gallons and now look at all the issues and class action law-suites happening. I don't think any of these companies are telling us the truth - if so they would have better NSF certifications then just the "parts and material" certification.
We haven't done a test ourselves. We're just sharing our experience after looking for the best Berkey replacement out there after doing research. Thanks for watching!
Robert, I just had my city tap water (with fluoride and chlorine added) and the Berkey water made from it tested with Simple Lab. My Berkey has two black filters with four years of use and aprox. 1600 gallons run through them, and two white PF2 filters with aprox. 180 gallons run through them. The Berkey results showed NO detectable amounts of aluminum, fluoride, or chlorine. My overall TapScore was 94. My Berkey filter is doing it's job!
Thanks for sharing your experience!

I've been using the England made Doulton filters the last 15 years on tank water. Haven't had any problems.
The specs on the Black Berkey filters are impressive though and a lot of hype about them. They say the fine pores also filter out viruses and nuclear contamination, etc. Things I don't have in my water tank to worry about. Bacteria and bugs that upset my stomach would be possibly my only risk which the Doulton removes.
Thanks for sharing! That's interesting about the black filters having the capability to remove viruses and nuclear contamination! Thank you for watching!
@FromScratchFarmstead
The capability to filter viruses is why our government wants to take them out. If you haven't yet figured it out, the gov. Is not our friend.
Anyway, please review and consider sharing with your subscribers the capability to clean your Berkeley filters as good as new.

I like that the ProOne filters are white so you can see what ISN’T going into your drinking water, and when they need to be cleaned.
That's true!
Thanks for doing this.
You bet! Thanks for watching!
I have just today switched to ProOne's in my Berkey tank. Perhaps it's the newer Black Berkey's that have a problem?.. my first Black Berkey pair were fine and gave me clear water from the get go. Then I bought a bigger Imperial tank and installed 2 pairs of Black Berkey filters. The water came out really cloudy/milky! I primed repeatedly (and I mean - repeatedly) soaked them overnight, more priming and shaking, till the water finally looked *almost* clear. But then my son got a tummy issue, and his new doctor told us we should be boiling all our drinking water (!) - no matter what filter we use! Well, I didn't spend that much money on several Berkey's to now have to boil 10 litres of water a day. I set out to prove the Doctor wrong- and tested both my source water (*very clear* tank water) and that same water after filtering through the Black Berkey.
Not only did the Black Berkey NOT remove all the e/coli and coliforms, my turbidity increased almost 1000% (i.e. the cloudiness). Worst of all though, the ALUMINIUM increased by 2500%!!! (again - this must be the cause of cloudiness? Nothing else was detected). Aluminium before filtering was 0.01mg/L, but after filtering was 0.26 which is above recommendations for drinking water. I've googled whether the Berkey filters leach Aluminium, and they have this big article off their website about such 'nasty rumours' and how there's different types of aluminium and the aluminium used in the manufacture of their Arsenic/Fluoride filters is harmless. Except I'm only using the Black filters, which DON'T use any Aluminium in them. It just doesn't make sense. Anyway I've just run through and dumped 3 cycles from the ProOne filters; so excited that it's clear and tastes good! I will be retesting the water, at my own expense, as I need to know it's 100% safe for my kids.
Sounds like you got counterfeit replacement filters.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Wow! Would be curious to hear your results when you retest the water.
They’ve got my email address now, I will definitely wait for a discount code! Thank you, good food for thought!

Thank you for your video. We've had our Big Berkey and a Travel Berkey for 15 years. What size Pro One filters would we need for each one?
Thanks for watching! We have a Big Berkey too and used 9" filters in it. They fit tall in the top chamber, but they do fit fine and give maximum filtering capacity. 7" would also work fine. I'm honestly not sure which size would fit in the Travel Berkey best but my guess would be the 5". You may want to check with ProOne though, as the 7" could possibly fit. Hope that helps! Oh, actually I just checked their site and there's a handy chart that lays it out: prooneusa.com/product-category/replacement-filters/proone-g2-0/?ref=378.
thank you I also like my Berkey although looking for alternative to the filters I'm going to try the Pro One

Just wanting to share our experience :). Thanks for watching!
It would be interesting if those filters also release aluminum into the filtered water like the Berkey Fluoride filters apparently are.
ProOne's lab reports show that 98% of aluminum is removed from water through the filters. Since it's not a separate fluoride filter like Berkey has these shouldn't have the same effect. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for sharing! I just finished cleaning, priming and red dye testing my black filters that are not that old and the flow rate is almost zero 🙄 .. do ProOne filters require the red dye test too?
Hey! ProOne recommends a blue or red dye test to check and make sure they're filtering fine. We did it on ours recently after a year and they were still going strong. It's not a thing that's required, just a good gauge for if you need to consider replacing them. I will say that after a year our ProOne filters still filter really quickly, which is nice. Thanks for watching!
Thank you!

i live in FL we keep bottled water for emergencies so I never mind the slow filtering, Plus I fill it before b d and it's done by morning.
Always a good idea to check before bed - great tip!
This video was so informative. Thank you! I think I will go with ProOne next time i need filters
Awesome! Glad it was helpful and hope you love your filters when the time comes! Thanks for watching!
This has been an excellent presentation from you both! Thank you. I have a question about the entire PureOne system and filters. The method for removing fluoride seem to commonly be aluminum oxide in the filter PureOne or Berkey's special filter. I have seen one testing of the Berkey Royal that indicated the fluoride filter caused a significant rise in Aluminum metal contaminating the filtered water. Does PureOne's filter of fluorides use the same process built-in to their primary filter such that Aluminum level become risky?
Thanks! That's a great question and good concern. As far as we know, there is no aluminum oxide in the filters and they are carbon & ceramic based. The lab report on ProOne's site shows that 98% of aluminum if removed from water through their filters, so virtually all of it. None added. Hope that helps! And thanks for watching!
It doesn't appear to add aluminium from what I've seen, but does add strontium, and a couple of other nutrient type minerals.
It drains quicker because it's filtering less effectively. The smaller micron filters filter smaller particles. Which takes longer if both filters were new. Surface area pressure increases with a higher volume of fluid in the refill tank ; thus the faster the filtration rate. I have cleaned my filters in a way I don't recommend ! I am applying due diligence to release legal liability. I clean ours as the manual states and then I slowly run tap water in the inlet of the filter very very slowly over about 5 minutes each. After the weight is obviously water filled I take my air compressor and place it into the black filter inlet and blow the water inside the filter out at about 120 PSI. Let me tell you the dirty water that weeps and blows free from the filter just lets your see the rust and garbage that filter just released. I have a family of 5 and our 3 sons put the T in testosterone. We eat and drink like kings and have not replaced these filters in 5 years ! Again my method is not recommended but it's what I do. I am mentally handicap and that information was for entertainment purposes only.
Thanks so much for sharing! That's all very interesting and quite the cleanest process... if it works, it works I guess 🙂. Thanks for watching!
Are you talking about cleaning a Berkley filter or a PureOne? And doesn't it destroy the filter in the process? Sounds fun though...😎
Berkey filters can't be shipped to CA anymore so it's good to hear there are other options for it.
Oh wow, didn't realize that! Glad ProOne is an option for those in CA. Thanks for watching!
But that is an endorsement for Berkeley, since anything NH or WHO says is exact oposite of truth! Seems the govt wants us dead so it condemns anything that might preserve our health in any degree!
It is my understanding that they use aluminum to remove floride that is one of the problems with the Berkey filters is when they did an independent test they discovered the floride filters leached aluminum into the water. That would be my concern with these I don't know if they've been independently tested not by the source that makes them
Yikes! Definitely don't want aluminum in the water. ProOne's testing shows that nearly all aluminum is removed from the water. And it seems like it's an entirely separate system/method than Berkey uses since the fluoride filtering is not a separate filter. I have not seen independent testing results yet but will keep an eye out for them. Thanks for watching!

Hello! Great video, just curious what Berkey size did you get for your family? Do you just use it for drinking water or also cooking and washing veggies?
Hi! We got the Big Berkey about 10 years ago before having kids. That's still what we have but if we were buying another one, we'd get a larger one for our bigger family.
Excellentvideo...Thank you.
Very glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this! My parents used to live right near the ProOne HQ, so also a good reason to switch! I'm assuming customer service can help w/which size to get depending on the Berkey we have? Thanks
You're welcome! Yes - their customer service is great! They are out of stock in a lot of things right now but hopefully they should be restocked by the end of the month.
When i researched buying a gravity filtration system in 2015, the Pro Pur system was my choice HANDS DOWN over Berkey, all day long, every day. Love the company custoner service. I cant imagine buying a system and then selling it because you are too lazy to use it. Wow.
Awesome, glad you love your ProOne too! Yeah, I'm always shocked how many used Berkey's are out there. Thanks for watching!
Great information. Didn’t know about this option. Val C
So glad this was helpful! Thanks for watching!
So is the flouride removal in the ProOne still use activated alumina? Have you tested your own water for added aluminum post filering? Thanks!
Hey! From what we've looked into there is no activated alumina in the filters. The filtering is carbon based. We have not had it tested to make sure aluminum specifically, but their lab reports show 98% of aluminum being removed. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Great video. So since I have to replace my two Berkey fluoride filters every year, the replacement cost of filters overall is probably cheaper with ProOne no matter how long the black Berkey filters last.
Good call. And if the ProOne filters last longer than what they have listed, then it really is more cost effective. Thanks for watching!
Great info but how often do you clean your filters? Also the pro one comes with a comparable 2.25 gallon unit but theirs comes with the 5 inch unit. Why did you buy so many and then 9 inch units?
ProOne recommends monthly cleaning. To be honest we probably only do a couple times a year. I never checked but I guess that could make sense for it to come with 5" filters. Our 2.25 gallon Berkey originally came with 2 7" filters. We eventually added on 2 more 9" Berkey filters and they always fit and we never thought much about the size besides that it gives more filtering capacity. So when we got the ProOne replacements, we just went with the 9" again. You can see if ProOne has more of a recommendation of size, but I think you'd be fine whatever size you want to go with. Thanks for watching!
The Berkeley fluoride filter actually contaminated your water with aluminum! That upset me
You never talked about the dye test did you do one . I recently ordered a travel Berkey and ordered two additional black filters and of course after I ordered I found out about the filter issue with Berkey it’s not a deal breaker but it seems I often research things and decide to buy and find out things after the fact.
I hear ya there! It's hard to keep track of all the info out there. We have not personally done a dye test yet but plan to do one here at some point. We've heard of others who have done them with their ProOne filters with great results. So far we really like our filters from ProOne and the company and find them as a really good Berkey alternative. Thanks for watching!
I have the largest Berkey System and a travel Berkey. I ordered two ProOne filters for the travel Berkey. I am in the process of letting the water run through. It is a very slow drip. Did I not do something correctly, or are these filters just that slow. Berkey filters flowed really quickly. I love the fact that I don't need an additional filter for the fluoride. Thank you for your video.
You’re welcome! Our experience with both is more of a quick drip but they were comparable in speed. If you have any concerns, I’d definitely reach out to ProOne.
I figured out the problem. My filters were slightly leaning. I tied them together (there are only two) to make them completely straight and the water poured through. Thank you for your reply. @@FromScratchFarmstead
Thanks for the video. There is one info I cannot get anywhere, so if someone has an answer it would be great !
Do you know if we can adapt a berkey filter in a proone jar ?
That's a great question! I would think you they would be compatible to do it that was but I'd reach out to ProOne to know for sure!
Can I just mention that the berkey fluoride filter adds heaps of aluminium on the lab test. I'm not sure about others.
I just finished watching that video where an independent company lab tested the berkey filters, absolutely shockin to see the results! was little aluminium in the water before filtering and levels were sky high after filtering. They should be held accountable for making people sick!
Yes, we're sad to hear these reports as well. That's why we like that the ProOne filters don't need a separate fluoride filter. Their test results show their filters remove 98% of aluminum. Thanks for watching!
@@FromScratchFarmstead That is reassuring to hear. I had my heavy metals tested and mercury and aluminum was detected.
We used RO for several years and eventually put together that (for us) it was contributing to insomnia. My assumption is that it throws off the balance of minerals / electrolytes, and adding a pinch of Himalayan salt did not help. After discovering that switching to bottled water greatly improved our symptoms, we made the move to Pro One and are enjoying it. Definitely has better mouth feel than RO and we haven't noticed any deleterious effects.
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing. I've heard this with RO too but thanks for sharing your personal experience.
How do you feel about Pro One filters removing 80% beneficial Calcium? Doesnt sound healty longterm. I want to buy them so bad and feel good amd convinced there healthy and a great pick for my family!
Hey! Definitely hear you. I think it's just one of those things that in order to filter out harmful things, you're likely going to also have to take out some beneficial things. I'm not going to claim to be a filtration expert, but my guess is that if they reworked the makeup of their filters to allow 100% of calcium through, it would also allow a lot of other stuff through you don't want in your water. Personally, I'm fine with this and since we have a family milk cow, I'm not concerned at all about our family having enough calcium in our diet. But I definitely understand the concern. My guess is that most water is not a great source for calcium to begin with, so with some regular dairy products and other good calcium sources, I'm sure you can get your family all the dairy they need! Thanks for watching!
Would the ProOne filters fit into an Alexapure unit? That's the one I have. Their proprietary filters automatically filter out flouride-an important feature for me but cost about $85 each.
Yes! ProOne does list Alexapure as being compatible on their website their replacement filters. Thanks so much for watching!
Question, that I can’t find an answer too anywhere. I got these filters for my Berkey after seeing this video, I followed the instructions on getting them wet, scrubbing them down and started filtering a few batches to get it going, however, it only drains half of the top tank and stops dripping. I’ve added more mister a few times thinking maybe it just needs to run thru a few times but after 6 fills it still only drains half way down. I using 2 of the 4 I got amd don’t wan to open the other two to test them if they are going ti do the same.
Interesting! That doesn’t sound right. We’ve never experienced this. I’d reach out to ProOne. We’ve always had good customer service experiences with them. I hope you get it resolved!
what testing in comparison did you do to gain to you an aware that these are better or just as good?
We're primarily just sharing from our personal experience using them and having a really great experience with the people at ProOne. We have not done any of our own testing. The test reports they have on their site are very thorough and we've heard from others who performed the blue dye test with their ProOne filters and had crystal clear results. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this informative video. More importantly thank you to your family for living a lifestyle that inspires others. 🕉
Glad it was helpful! And really appreciate the kind words 😊 Thanks for watching!
What is inspiring about living in fear?
I might’ve missed it as I was doing morning chores as I was listening. We have a water well and use a water softener. Can you use a filter with water softened water?
Yes! That’s what we have too - a well with water softener!
Have you had the fluoride content tested by a lab before and after filtering through these filters? We recently learned that these gravity filters actually increase the fluoride content. The AlexaPure one we have that is an all-in-one filter as well has been shown by one tester to actually increase the fluoride content by 200%, and that was after putting 100 gallons through the system, so it was primed.
Hey! We have not because we're on well water so fluoride isn't an issue. I'd be curious if anyone else has done before and after tests though? ProOne's lab repots show nearly all the fluoride being removed but I have not seen any other results from users. Thanks for watching!
Unless the filter has Fluoride in it how could it possibly increase the Fluoride in the water? The only way would be that the filter removes Fluoride, by trapping it in the filter like it is supposed to, but at some point then releases the Fluoride from the filter into the water.
@@Eldorado66779 That's what I'd like to know too! It was The Water Filter Guru RUclips channel that posted the video. Just go to his page and search for the AlexaPure video. It was a new filter though. Only 100 gallons had went through it before testing.
I live in the UK and have had a Berkey for years and I need to replace my filters - these look good and so I’m wondering if I can buy ProOne filters in the Uk?
They are out of Michigan in the US but they do ship internationally! Thanks for watching!
Have you tried a red dye test with these ProONe filters?
We haven't (it's on our list) but have heard from others who have and it's come out clear! Thanks for watching!
Do these filters go on sale, like for Black Friday or anything, as far as anyone knows? Wondering if I should buy a few now or wait for a bit and see about potential sales…
They do go on sale occasionally! If you sign up for their emails, they’ll tell you when a sale is happening.
I put the Berkey up on a coffee can. Wine box cardboard is WAY strong, so I use a little square of that between the Berkey & the big coffee can.
But first, you need to find someone that buys big cans of coffee.... lol
Good suggestion!
Great timing! Berkey is actually 'out of stock' on almost all their items. Looking at replacing filters for two setups. Cheapest price is around $85/ea, when buying a 4-pack. Haven't checked the ProOne yet, but will right now. The cost difference is scary on all the other cheap filters, and don't want to buy "cheap" made in China filters that don't do anything!
Totally hear you! It's well worth doing the research and finding a quality option you feel comfortable with. We're still really happy with our ProOne filters. So if you give them a go, we hope you love them too! Thanks so much for watching!
@fromscratchfarmstead Is it really necessary to use 4 filters at once? I’ve used only 2 filters the past 6 plus months. How often do you change out four of them?
Not at all! We actually only have 2 in right now and they’ve lasted us about a year so far. We just did a dye test and it came back clear so we’ll check them again in a couple of months!
Spent half the day researching Berkey filter alternatives which led me to looking into ProOne more. Your video sealed the deal for me to switch to ProOne and guess what?? They are out of stock with no indication of when they will have more. UGH!
So glad to hear it was helpful! Yes, totally a bummer that they are sold out right now. They did initially have a message up that they were out through the holidays and last I heard they hope to be back in stock before the end of January. With Berkey stopping sales, I think ProOne's sales spiked and being a small business they just couldn't have predicted it and ran out. Hopefully they'll be back soon! Thanks for watching!
I'd love to order some ProOne but the 7" are out of stock. How long, I wonder?
Hey there! They seem to be getting them back in stock pretty quickly right now, but I couldn't tell you for sure. Their customer support might be able to give you a better answer. Thanks for watching and hope you love them!
Are you still happy with the ceramic filters? Are you still using them and how is the taste?
Hey there! Yes, we are still happy with the filters. They've worked great and we are still using them. The taste is comparable to what we came to expect with Berkey filters, which we really like. Thanks for watching!
I have the Royal berkey. Do you know which size filter from Pro one would fit in mine?
So we fit the 9” filters in our standard size Big Berkey just fine. Since the Royal is bigger you should be fine with 7” or 9”. Thanks for watching!
Is this a good size Berkey for y’all? I can’t decide which size to order for our family. Does it take a long time to filter through?
Hi there! I'd say that we do fine with the Big Berkey size for our family of 6. We bought that though when it was just 2 of us. If we were ordering a new one today, we'd probably get a bigger size... though I don't mind one that's a bit more compact to save space on the counter. It really doesn't take that long to filter through a whole chamber full of water... probably less than 30 minutes with the ProOne filters, which filter pretty quickly. We probably do fill it about once a day. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
